The Cast:

Me-I love the magic of Disney, even the air is better there!
Dh -AKA- Map Man- loves to plan trips, rarely gets lost, has abnormally strong fingers and is not allowed to push buttons.
DD Lexi -8 AKA Mouth Almighty- Loves Mickey- totally believes with all her heart in the characters and the magic of Disney.
Grandma -my mom- in her 70’s she is in great shape and can keep up with anyone but has trouble seeing. Has been on many WdW trips with us. Is staying in Fl. ater this trip until we come back in May to pick her up.
Nanny- Dh’s mom- in her 50’s (she started a lot sooner than my mom) never been to WDW or traveled much. Doesn’t live near us and works a lot so she and Lexi have never spent that much time together.

It is official we have become crazy Disney people, and I am fine with that. We last went in Aug ust for 10 days, a split stay between WL and the Hard Rock Hotel. It was great, but never in the summer again! We usually do May which is as close to summer as I will ever get again. I didn’t dare think we’d be back so soon but Map Man found a great deal on flights and we had a credit with South West so the rest is History……

We left Manchester about noon on Thursday 1/12 and were checked in to CBR with out problems by 5:30. We had to stop at Walgreen’s for some meds as I was pretty sure Mouth was getting sick she felt warm to me and sounded stuffy. She didn’t want to admit it, she wanted to swim! While Map Man got us checked in I took the rest of the gang to the food court and pool. By the time Map Man returned, Mouth and I were swimming- the Grandma’s decided to have a drink and watch. It was a bit chilly but fine while you were under the water.

We were in Trinidad North - The Grandma’s were 3 doors down which was good as it kept Mouth from always “checking” on them. Mouth and I got dressed and we all went to check out our rooms.
As we entered the Grandma’s room it was clear Mickey had left a note and a few surprises for them. As you may or may not know sometimes Mickey leaves presents and notes for kids and their Grandparents. Mouth loves this and had told Nanny this might happen. Grandma was already aware of this custom from past trips. Lexi believes that she gets presents from Mickey when some of her friends don’t because she and Mickey share the same B day.
Mouth read the letters to the Grandma’s. Mickey told Nanny how happy he was she had come and that any friend of Lexi’s was a friend of his. He asked Grandma about who she was meeting in Florida after her time with us. Nanny was very surprised and excited over her letter and kept remarking “How could Mickey know all that?!” We then went to see what Mickey left Lexi, she got a note and a Minnie swim suit and some other little things. “ Oh Mickey is such a good kind mouse,” she sighed as I tucked her in. We were all in bed by 9 ready to be at the Magic Kingdom for opening. I woke up about 12 am to hear Lexi moaning in her sleep, she only does that when she is sick. I took her temp and it was 100.7, gave her some Motrin . I was pretty worried she and I might miss the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully she woke up fine and we all were at the bus stop by 8:15. That was when Nanny let me know the blasphemy that my mom had spoken the night before. I had been impressed with Nanny’s acting abilities when she was remarking about the letter and Mickey gifts, as I thought she understood I “help” Mickey with this. She did not understand however , and once she and my mom were alone she was going on and on about it until finally my mom looked at her and said “ It’s all a SCAM!” Well , Nanny said she was never so disappointed in her life! Of all the ways to word it! I quickly told Nanny that while it was true I did help Mickey with that it was only because he was very busy and even magic needs a hand now and then. The bus came and we were off, we got there just before opening . Watching how excited Nanny was to see the Characters and the opening show was really cool and made something we had all seen many times new again. The plan was DH and crew would walk swiftly to Dumbo and I would walk swiftly to Splash Mtn for Fast passes. Even though Lexi is 8 and sort of too cool for Dumbo, it is a tradition we start every Magic Kingdom morning with
“ Bumbo” her most favorite ride on her first visit when she was 2.
Dh holds the record for a splash dash and back to Dumbo even in the August heat, but I thought he should see his mom do her first Disney ride with Lexi, so I dashed! I was back Fast passes in hand by the time they were off Dumbo. We did the rest of Fantasy land with no waits and after every ride Nanny kept saying “I had no idea , it is just so amazing!” We went over to Frontier land via the Haunted Mansion and Nanny and Lexi met Jessie and Woody. Nanny was very excited over meeting the Characters. We did Splash and Thunder Mtns ( didn’t need the fast pass.) Rode the train over to Toon town and met Mickey and a few more characters. It was there Nanny fell in love with Eyeore. We saw the parade which we usually don’t do because of the heat and then had ADR’s at Mouth’s favorite Restaurant, Liberty Tree Tavern. LTT was excellent as usual and Mouth ate a ton- I was glad about that because she hadn’t been eating much. Nanny and Lexi got Pictures and Autographs with everyone there and Grandma had her picture done with her favorite, Goofy. We then did Pirates and Aladdin’s Carpets and headed back to the room about 6:30 we all went for a swim because we had promised Mouth we would. DH and I were happy, everyone was getting along and the grandma’s were holding up well with all the walking. Our first day was very magical and fun even if it did start out with a SCAM!

A "scam". That is so cute. One of my best friends, who happens to be 59, believes in everything. I "scam" her all the time. This cracks up my DD, who is still a child at 24. But, I must add the Easter Bunny always brings my favorite candy, so maybe I "scam" myself. :rotfl:

Wow, I'm very impressed that the two grandma's can go vacationing with you -- how nice! I can't ever imagine my mom and MIL sharing a hotel room -- now THAT would be a short trip report. It would go something like this -- "we checked in, heard scuffling next door, one grandma had been stuffed in the toilet by the other. The end."

This trip report is sounding good so far -- hopefully Nanny won't get "scammed" any more :rotfl: How does Mickey's helper get the stuff into the rooms before you check in? I'm curious about this. Thanks!

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Yes, I feel lucky our mom's are both easy going. They also never try to correct DD when we are there to do it. My mom is always up for a trip anywhere, you could call her and say, "Hey I'm going to the arm pit of the nation and stay at Super 8 want to go?" She'd be excited and packed in minute.

Oh I forgot the real answer I was going to post- How does Mickey get the stuff in the rooms? Magic Of course! Well really I have it in some type of gift bag in my carry on and usually Dh or I will run up to "check" to be sure the rooms are fine and while up there we put out the stuff- I have also had us all walk in the room at the same time before and acted like I had to pee really bad and run into the bathroom. Then grabbed the stuff out of the bag and put it in the tub or on the counter. Then I yelled out to everyone all bewildered, Hey there is stuff in the tub. Of course DD is practically breaking down the door when she hears that. Silly Mickey you never know where he will put a surprise! This trip Dh put it out while we were at the pool then he came over, none of the crew knew he had been in the room yet. We are staying off site at the Orange Lake Country Club ( it's free, grandma belongs to RCI) in May and even though it is very nice Lexi is going on and on about how Mickey won't leave her anything. I keep saying of course he won't, but really I plan to have him leave something for the 1st mornings wake up, saying sorry to be late but they wouldn't let me in the gate so I had to send Tink over .... This will really amuse Lexi. When we were at Universal I had Sponge Bob leave her a note saying how he hated it that everyone loved Mickey and now that he was leaving gifts everyone would see he was the best Character in FL. He left her Sponge Bob bandaids. This cracked her up and she still comments on how poor Sponge Bob is too dumb to know Mickey will always be the best and Band aids are not a good present. :rotfl:
