wdwmagic is reporting that each of the florida parks is getting a gift for disneyland's 50th in 2005. Most of them aren't surprises. The rumors are-
stunt show for mgm
fliks fun fair for DAK
Soarin clone for epcot
maybe the mermaid lagoon for MK
Here are myh thoughts. If they are going to be gifts from disneyland, why have one from Paris and one from Tokyo. I wish that the studios would go ahead and just get indiana jones as a gift form disneyland. I guess they need to spread the cost out and get the new stunt show up first.
Fliks fun fair will be a welcome addition to camp minnie mickey. My only wish here would be that they would make Hiemlicks train into a kiddie coaster, more like flounder or gadget's go coaster. The train is pretty weak. Little, little ones will like it though so I'm all for it. If this really does shake out this way, DAK looses to Epcot getting Flik's fair rather than Soarin. But Flik's Fair would really help DAK. Flik, soarin, and E:E would really help DAK. If you threw in a beastly kingdom.
Mermaid lagoon for MK. Again, not a surprise, but I'll believe it when I see it though. This idea keeps coming up and going away. Again, I wish it was something from disneyland - maybe pinocchio in the fantasyland sky bucket station or something. If they do go with the Mermaid Lagoon it is going to be interesting to see how they do it. There is a large show building from 20Kluts that they could use for the indoor parts. But some of the carnival type rides are already right there in fantasyland; dumbo spinner, mad tea party (kelp cups), goofy's barnstormer (flounder's flying fish). Beyond that, iirc, it is just jumping jellyfish and the himilayan type ride (talk about a carnival ride!). I wonder if they would just do the interactive indoor stuff? Would they put the carnival rides on islands in the lagoon? Would they change it and put in a new type of ride plus the interactive indoor elements? It would be interesting to see what they do, but I can't see a carbon copy of the TDS attraction working in fantasyland. They could do a different version of the same concept. Maybe a little mermain ride on the sub tracks. If they do end up doing this, I hope they keep the toddler play areas, that was cool in tds. Honestly, I am still skeptical that we will see something in the lagoon.
And I guess TDS and DCA are getting to the tower of terror as birthday gifts. Buzz lightyear's astro blasters should be open at TDL before 2005! Wonder if they will have something else. I wonder if they will do anything for Paris.
But, to me, it all begs the question, what is Disneyland going to get? Space Mt. reopening? Will they do anything to pactch up tomorrowland at all? It looks like the subs aren't coming back. Buzz Lightyear in the circlevision theater is on again, off again. Tomorrowland right now is astro orbitor, star tours, honey I shrunk the audience, and the monorail station. Autopia. That really needs to be fixed before any of this.
