Watch out, Port Charles: James Franco is back.

After a two-month stint last fall on General Hospital, the actor returns next month, continuing his "obsessive vendetta," leaving a "tangled web of clues" for his pursuers and taking townspeople on an alliterative "wild ride of mystery, music, murder and mayhem."

"The hospital," producers say in a statement, "will be in peril."

Which is just fine for the Pineapple Express star. "Working on General Hospital was a great experience," he tells PEOPLE. "I love the cast, writers, directors and producers. They have become a new family for me. I can't wait for the work we will do this summer.

GH Previews: Week of May 24

INDESCENT PROPOSAL

**Wanting to destroy Lulu and Dante, Carly offers Brook Lynn to pay off her debts and return to Port Charles if she sleeps with Dante. Carly also offers an additional financial incentive if Brook Lynn gets pictures of her tryst with Dante. Olivia sees Carly and Brook Lynn planning their next move and becomes curious about seeing them together. Brook Lynn tries to gain Dante's trust by playing up the drama between Olivia and Johnny.

Lulu keeps her distance from Dante as she debates whether or not to tell him about her abortion. Eventually she decides to tell him the truth.

SPENCER FAMILY DRAMA

Elizabeth misses her ultrasound appointment, mistakenly taking Jake & Cameron when it's actually Lucky's day to have them. She returns home to find Nikolas waiting for her. An angry Nikolas confronts Elizabeth about her irresponsibility, accusing her of purposely trying to miscarry.

Tracy learns of Helena's evil plans when she visits Tracy in the dungeon. Luke tries to break into the Cassadine mansion but is caught by Thor. Luke is reunited with Tracy when Thor takes him to the dungeon.

RISON LIFE AT PENTONVILLE

Jason discovers a badly beaten Michael and wants to take care of it, but Michael tells him to leave it alone. Jason teaches Michael self-defense maneuvers to protect himself. Michael updates Jason on life in prison, making sure he knows that lockdown doesn't necessarily mean you're safe. Carly learns of Michael's beating after visiting him in prison. Carly vows to destroy Dante & Lulu for what they've done to Michael.

Sam visits Jason and is denied a conjugal visit because they are not legally married.

ELSEWHERE IN PORT CHARLES

Kristina tells Michael she blames Sonny for him being locked up. Johnny continues to be a thorn in Sonny's side when he steals some of Sonny's business partners. Sonny threatens to kill Johnny in retaliation, with no regard to how that might affect Michael. Claire asks Dante to help her convict Sonny so Michael can be released. Sonny makes a deal to bring down Johnny before a mob war breaks out. Lucky learns Claire believes she can double cross Sonny and take down Johnny at the same time. Sonny tells Olivia he's purposely antagonizing Johnny so he can kill him in self defense. Lisa plays on Patrick's jealousy when she flirts with Steve.

Claire asks Dante to help her put Sonny behind bars so Michael can get released on Monday, May 24.

Carly offers Brook an incentive of $50K if she gets pictures of Dante cheating on Lulu with her on Tuesday, May 25.

THIS WEEK ON: GENERAL HOSPITAL

**Jason finds Michael physically battered and unresponsive in his jail cell on Monday, May 24. Michael begins to open up to Jason. Jason works on teaching Michael self defense techniques. Michael presses Jason to drop the topic when he continues to try to pry the truth out about who hurt him. Kristina's ire towards Sonny returns after visiting Michael. Nikolas accuses Elizabeth of purposely trying to lose their child on Tuesday, May 25. Helena confides in Tracy that her master plan is to provoke Lucky's murder at the hands odf Nikolas. On Wednesday, May 26, Luke and Tracy are reunited in the Cassadine dungeon. Lisa continues to play on Patrick's jealousy. Sam and Jason romance hits a roadblock on Friday, May 28.

The Inside Story: Wicked Game
A vengeful Carly offers to pay all of Brook's debts in exchange for her sleeping with Dante. Dante, meanwhile, is confused when Lulu pulls away from him. Lulu tells Dante about her abortion on Tuesday, May 25. Carly sweetens the pot for Brook, offering her fifty grand if she captures Dante cheating on Lulu with her on film. Olivia suspects Carly and Brook are up to something. Carly and Brook plot their next move. On Thursday, May 27, Brook uses the conflict between Johnny and Olivia to gain Dante's appreciation and trust. Carly's determination to make Dante and Lulu pay intensifies after visiting her battered son in jail.

A Closer Look: Russian Roulette
Johnny pushes Sonny to the limit on Monday, May 24. Claire insists to Dante that she can get Michael out of jail if he helps her put Sonny in jail. On Wednesday, May 26, Sonny and Claire agree to team up to bring Johnny down before a mob war breaks out. Claire confides in Lucky that she's planning to double-cross Sonny and has every intention of bringing down both Corinthos and Johnny. Sonny, meanwhile, point blank informs Olivia that he is purposefully provoking Johnny so he can kill him in self-defense.

It was implied. At least in my opinion that is what they were going for.

The guy who befriended him tells Michael that he "owes' him and IMO was coming on to him. I thought it was pretty clear what he was trying to do.

He is just sitting there clutching his knees to his chest, rocking back and forth.

It very much seemed to me that is what they were implying. Now they MAY change directions and say he was just beat up but for a kid who was such a tough guy hot head it is a pretty extreme reaction to being beat up.

If all Michael gets is roughed up then he should count his blessings. The RUMORS we are hearing are far worse than Anthony Z ordering Michael to get pushed around. Way worse. I admit I saw these RUMBLINGS last week and honestly did not think even Guza would go there, but it LOOKS like he may be going there. First Michael was shot in the head, and then he turned him into a killer now, well now IF these RUMORS are true Michael will now become a victim in the sickest of prison stories. Do I need to draw a dropping the soap picture? Will we see a race to free Michael when Judge Carroll’s bad bench behavior is exposed only for Dante to be too late? Will the damage already be done? COULD this be a great, dark GH story or one that is taking something too far? Some are speculating that fan favorite and Emmy-nominated Drew Garrett (ex-Michael) was let go due to this very storyline. That his boyish looks simply did not fit. Do you agree? Do looks really matter in this case or are the acting chops to pull it off what matter most?

I know this happens in "real life" and my heart goes out to the people this happens to...that being said...is this really the direction that the writers want to take the soap? I agree with you 100%. And if this indeed this really did happen to Michael, then yes, they took it too far.

Now that I think of it. When Jason was talking to Anthony Z about protection for Michael, didn't he say he wanted him protected from beatings and rapes? He even looked uncomfortable saying that.

I didn't tune in once last week, on soap net or otherwise. Didn't miss it. Don't plan on watching a prison rape thing play out. I agree about the old days. When it was entertaining...and ridiculously "out there"..but still kept you tuning in.

Not that it's funny in real life....but it sure explains why they changed Michaels. This new guy has this "pained" expression on his face all the time. I said weeks ago he, looks as if he needs a does of metimucile, but now I guess we know what they were goin for with that.

I think it's too far. They have a character that you literally watch grow up on the show. They change him..age, him. Okay..didn't like it, but I get it..it's done all the time. (although I love how the kids age but the parents don't, but I digress ). THEN..they age him again...just so we're supposed to believe he's now an adult, dealing with the ramifictions of what happened in an adult court/punishment system. As if that's gonna make this any easier to watch.
Please..I'd almost rather watch Kristina whine about getting punched again..while all the adults around her were totally clueless. HELLO...nobody thought of the boyfriend?..Give me a break.

Do we want new stories or what is most likely to not offend anyone? I want new stories ...I may not agree with the story but at least its not the same old who's cheating on who and whos baby is who's. Well, I guess I'd have to agree with you there. While it is a new storyline..however it's the way that they brought Michael to this point, that is too far of a stretch for me to care about. Additionally, they're going down this road with a an actor who is brand new to the cast. I don't feel the viewers have any connection with this kid, who is now playing a pivitol role in the story.
I'm all for new storylines. PLEASE new storylines.., and even this while, not something I'd care to watch..is new. Yet they have brought you to this point by aging a long time characer not once, but twice so as to create this ridiculous scenario. In my opinion the viewers then loose the connection with the character.
