The future of Orbitz promo codes

With the current restrictions on the promo codes through Orbitz, such as a 2 night minimum and the $150 cap, and the no ability to use the 20% off at Disney resorts, anyone else feel that they will eventually go the way of Cheaptickets and all their codes will not be valid at Disney resorts at all?

If so, I guess it will just be back to booking direct with Disney or with the Magical Agency for me. I do like saving almost all my Disney funds on their gift cards vs. cash, so this may be the way I go back to doing it.

Bummer...I was just looking at Orbitz today to book a room and noticed the promo code wasn't good for the Disney resorts. I was able to use it in November.

Right, the 20% code off won't work for them. As of now, the 15% still do. But that might not last for long. Must have been a great deal of people, like myself who stacked the discounts. Also, they may have been taking a hit in profits when people learned of how to work around their greedy business practice of charging for kids in the rooms. I think Travelocity still does it allows for their promo codes to apply.

I'm pretty sure at this point that it's not greed; it's that Orbitz's booking engine wasn't designed to allow for a "free kids" policy. It hurts them when people compare a booking that includes children between them and, say, Travelocity or Expedia.

Well, some of the hotels that you book on there do not incur the child fee. But Disney's hotels sure do.

I got all excited when I saw the 20% off codes and then discovered they weren't good at Disney Resorts. I figure this is the way it will probably be with Orbitz from now on.

I did discover that I could use the 20% promo code for the Universal Resorts which may help out someone else who is also planning 2 nights at Universal.

What is the 15%code?

Well I don't know of a current one as of today, so what I was referring to was the fact the ones here in the past month or so that were 15% did work. Are you needing an Orbitz code, that might work with Disney, if so, I will let you know if I see one.

I agree, the 20% off are a thing of the past I believe.

Disney is unusual in that they don't charge for extra guests (beyond the first 2) that are under 18, but do charge for extra guests that are 18 and older. Most other hotels in the US either charge for everyone or no one regardless of age. Orbitz can handle either of those; they can't handle Disney's system. Of course, Expedia, Travelocity, etc. all handle it just fine. I think those companies have better programmers than Orbitz. :)

Now I know Travelocity doesn't but I was thinking that Expedia did.

It was good while it lasted, but yes I've been thinking it's a thing of the past. It will be interesting to see how it plays out....if their bookings go way down, they may need to lure people in again.

There was an orbitz, expedia, travelocity merger earlier this year. That may have something to do with the different coupons this year.

REVIEW15 works for 15% but with a cap of $150. Better than nothing!

I thought Review15 had already expired? The cap doesn't bother me, $150 is usually the most I would save regardless. I wonder if you split your stay up if you could save more that way?

I tried it with my dates before posting, would hate to get someone's hopes up. :teeth:
