Day One, Sept. 26, Part Two: We are in the boonies of WDW
We make it to FW around 5:30 and check in. No line but I was disappointed when I found out we were in loop 2800, Cabin 2827. Since I had never stayed in the cabins I figured I had better check it out first, since I really had no idea how big the cabin area was. Well we were in probably the most remote Cabin in FW and my DH was immediately ready to check out and go to Residence Inn (We had planned on staying at RI in LBV but when the Fall Fantasy Packages came out we changed to FW because of the great deal). I had planned on just doing some food shopping and the girls getting into bed early but since we arrived at the cabin later than I had hoped my DH decided he wanted to go to the pool(which he did not want to do alone with both girls) so we started walking towards the pool and my DH decides he wants to bring the carriage since it is such a walk to the bus stop, so finally we reach the bus stop and I can see the pool down the street so decide to keep walking but he tells me that he wanted to go to the bigger pool area (Meadows) and check out the place) by this time it is 6:30 and I am hoping to get the girls into bed by 8 since we had a long day on the plane, so I decide to just go to the cabin pool. He is not happy about it but he goes and when we get back I drive over to Meadows (there is a 15 minute parking area) and pick up some drinks and snacks since I never made it to the grocery store. When I get back my DH informs me that there is mold growing in the microwave and when I take a better look around, I discover there is dust covering every surface of the place. When we go into the bedroom area we discover the lighting is so poor when it is dark that you can barely see in front of you. At this point I just want to get the girls to bed so I get them into bed and I follow them to bed soon after. I am really regretting that I made the decision to stay in the cabins at this point and know I need to do something to change my DH's mood .
Day Two, Sept. 27, Part One: As soon as I wake up in the morning I ask my DH what he wants to do, even though I don't really know what our options are at this point. I know I am really disappointed with the cabin-not only because it is quite remote, but also because it is so dirty. He doesn't really give me an answer so I drive over to the check in area and tell the CM about our dirty cabin and the fact that I am not happy about its location. I tell her that I would like to be close to the pool and the bus stop since I am very disappointed with the cabin. She immediately goes in back to speak to a manager and both of them come out and tell me we can have Cabin 2506 which is in back of the pool area. They tell me it is occupied now but the people are checking out today. I say that is fine and I would like it to be ready by 2:00 since I have a baby who needs to take a nap when we return from the MK. They assure me it will be ready and I go check out the new cabin-much closer to the pool and the bus stop. So I get back to our cabin in the boonies and tell DH to pack up because we are moving.
Needless to say we did not make it to the MK by 9:00 for opening. We decided to drive since we were already all in the car and needed to drop off one of our bags at the front office since it couldn't be left in a hot car all morning and finally after parking, taking the tram and taking a monorail we were in MK. Security was pretty quick-we got much better at getting things out and ready to check as the days went on. So we walk into Main St. but we are all starving since we spent our morning packing and never got a chance to eat (except for the girls who has coffee cake and fruit). So we immediately head for the Bakery-got some good pastries and found a quiet spot to relax and eat. Finally about 10:30 we are ready to hit Fantasyland although I am a bit worried that we will encounter some big lines. We head to Fantasyland and the first ride we see is Snow White's. I knew my oldest DD wanted to go on this ride since she loves the movie-and we had prepared her that it may be scary and you will see the witch, etc. I didn't think I wanted it to be the first ride for my youngest DD but at this point I just wanted to go on any ride and start the magic so we all went on with no wait-and everyone loved it-we ended up going on probably four times over the course of our stay! My oldest DD just covered her eyes at the parts she didn't like but loved seeing Snow White and the dwarfs and kept asking to go on again! After Snow White we headed for Dumbo-wait posted was 15 minutes but we waited less than 10-another success, both girls loved it but especially the youngest-she just kept laughing. Next was the carousel, again another favorite of my youngest. Next we headed for Small World with no wait-everyone loved it. But I made the mistake of getting on before I got our FP for Peter Pan. So we got our FP for Peter Pan after Small World and we had an hour before our window started so we got a drink-it was so hot the entire trip-90 degrees every day and probably only 5 minutes total of rain all 6 days. Right after we got our drinks to cool off, Snow White came out with Dopey by the old Sky Buckets entrance. This was my daughters first encounter with a character and she was so excited. She gave both of them a huge hug posed for pictures and was happy to talk to Snow White(she was very concerned about being able to talk to the characters before we left for our trip!) She didn't say anything to me but she told my DH that she was upset because she did not have an autograph book . She had watched all the other kids in line and she wanted one too. I figured she would be young enough that she would not care but she did and he bought her one our next day in MK. My youngest DD did not want to get too close to the characters-she liked to keep about 3 feet between her and the characters almost the whole trip! Now we were off to the Teacups, I decided not to go on with my youngest since I thought she was too young to handle this ride (boy was I wrong, later on in the trip my DH took her on an it was by far her favorite!) Probably a five minute wait, I almost missed videotaping my DH and DD on the ride because I figured they had a long wait (it was posted as 15 minutes). By now it was time for our FP so we headed for PP-FP line was maybe a few minutes long. Again everyone loved the ride. But now we were all hungry again and Columbia Harbor House was right there so we went in-12:00 or so and there were plenty of tables downstairs-while we were eating my oldest DD fell asleep in the carriage-never even ate any lunch-the travelling and MK really tired her out quickly!
We decided to head back to FW (took us a long time to go from Ferry to tram to parking lot) , checked into our new cabin around 2:30 and the new cabin was so much better-First of all it was very clean-it even smelled cleaner when we walked in. We unpacked the car again and put my youngest down for a nap with my DH and I headed to the grocery store with my oldest DD since she had taken her nap in the MK. I decided to go to Goodings since I knew exactly where it was and didn't want to waste any time since we had planned on going to MK when we got back from the grocery store. It was expensive since I had to buy diapers, but I was able to get what I needed to make braeakfast, an antipasto type salad for a couple of lunches or dinners and some fresh cut fruit. I figured I still saved money compared to eating breakfast and lunch out every day. So we got back, ate dinner and headed to the bus stop around 5:00 or so. We got on a boat in FW pretty quickly and made it to MK in less than ½ hour which was much better than our transportation time driving our own car this morning. We were in MK by six (MK was open until 8 every night during our stay-which worked out great for us!) and we rode Magic Carpets with no wait-again everyone loved it and then attempted the Pirates of the Caribbean but my oldest DD did not like the queuing area and I turned around and just waited in the shop where the ride lets out. My DH rode it with my youngest-she never cried he said but he said she seemed a bit concerned about some of the pirates. Now it was time to get a spot for Spectro, we pulled the carriage right up to the rope on the street in Liberty Square and my DH got snacks. The parade made it to our area around 8:15 and we all loved it. I have always loved the night parades and am still disappointed that I never made down to the marina in FW to see the Electric Water Pageant. After the parade was over we headed to the boat and had to wait for the next one to come since the previous one filled up. When we got to FW, Hoop Dee Doo was letting out and there was a huge wait at the bus stop-my DH was not happy getting jammed into a bus and to make matters worse this was the worst bus driver we had the whole trip-he was flying through the campground! Took a quick swim since we were so hot and got the girls to bed after 10:00! Next day, more MK and Epcot!
