There presently is a very good deal for a 2 bedroom condo at the Fountains for January ($99 per night).
The reviews on Trip Advisor seem to run very good to excellent. My wife really likes the fact that they have an indoor pool (January in central Florida).
I just wanted to run this by the board and see what y'all say.

We toured this resort several years ago. It was lovely! I'd be happy to stay there - beautiful rooms, nice facilities. It used to be called Oasis Lakes. You may get more responses if you add this name to your thread heading or ask on another thread or do a search for Oasis Lakes.

My SIL owns there, and we used her week this past January and were very pleased! :cool1: I don't think you would be disappointed with that choice. :teeth:

We will be there on Dec.5 -Dec. 11th! I'll be happy to answer any questions you have when we get back. :goodvibes

Tracy, Look forward to hearing about your trip. Have a great time!
The main things I am interested in about The Fountains is...

* Do they have a shuttle to the parks, and if yes, how reliable is it?
* If no, what is the real travel time to the parks (they advertise 10 minutes), and are there any shortcuts?
* How is the indoor pool?
* How is the kids game room?
* How are the kids actvities?
* Since the condo has a kitchen, would you recommend bringing anything that they have overlooked?
* Any suggestions on making check in/check out easier?

I can answer a few of your questions:
I'm not sure of a shuttle, but it does only take about 10 minutes to get to Disney property. Then it depends on what park you are going to.
The pool is like an indoor/outdoor pool. You can swim from inside to outside. The water was very warm when we were there in January.
They had two girls who were the activities directors for the kids. They had many planned activities and I'm sure you will get a schedule when you check in.
I think they give you stuff like dishsoap, ect. If you run out of anything there is a grocery store just down the road along with Premium Outlets with a Disney Outlet there! There is also a Walgreens right there also.
Check-in was a breeze, I wouldn't even worry about it. They do send you over to the concierge desk and they will want to set you up for a timeshare presentation. We got, I think it was, $75 Disney dollars for about 90 minutes of our time. It wasn't high pressure or anything. I think I might have a few photo's of the place. I'll see if I can find some.

Thank you for the pictures, Scott! :goodvibes I can't wait to show them to my DH! I am so excited to go!!!! :Pinkbounc

You're welcome! Have a great time and say hi to Mickey for me! :earsboy:

The above pics are of the older "Oasis lakes Secition' the newer ones are decorated in a green, dragonfly decor...It's nice.. You will love it! There has not been any kind of shuttle that I know of an it is only about 10 mins to the parks..

Most of the questions were answered. I second 10 minutes to Disney property max-then another 5-10 to AK and MK. Epcot and MGM are closer.

No shuttle at all-turn right out of the property-turn right at the dead end of Intnatl Dr-you will be on 536-that goes straight to property.

Sea World is no more than 5 minutes away, I would imagine Universal is about 15. Basic needs are in the rooms (dish soap, laundry soap, etc). Publix and Walgreen are no more than 2 minutes away, or even a long walk. The I Drive trolley stops in front of the resort also.

The indoor portion of the pool is actually connected to the outdoor portion, it could get cold if cold outside. THe game room is basic, maybe 8-10 video games and ping pong, etc. The activites are scheduled daily from roughly 10 until evening. Some have a nominal fee. Board games are available in the upstairs clubhouse. A free pool table is available in the main lobby.

We stayed there on a winning Skyauction bid in October and loved the facility. We sat through the presentation and it was closer to 2 hours, but worth the $75. Disney dollars.

You will enjoy the stay!!

The main things I am interested in about The Fountains is...

* Do they have a shuttle to the parks, and if yes, how reliable is it? No, they don't have a shuttle to the parks, but we were told that option would be available in the next year or so.

* If no, what is the real travel time to the parks (they advertise 10 minutes), and are there any shortcuts? It took us about 10 minutes to get to the parks. We turned right out of the Fountains and turned right at the first intersection (Vineland?) and went all the way down until you reach a main intersection, turn right. Go under the route 4 bridge and turn left on Lake Buena Vista Drive where you see Mickey and Minnie and follow the signs to the park of your choice.

* How is the indoor pool? It was great! The pool is actually an indoor/outdoor pool. On Saturday evenings, they have a dive-in movie where you can swim and watch a movie. When we were there, they showed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They also have a steam room and a sauna, but the sauna wasn't working when we were there. I think they have an indoor hot tub and an outdoor hot tub as well. Plus, they have a kiddie pool w/ fountains.

* How is the kids game room? Small. We had a problem with losing tokens in machines, but the front desk gave us more tokens when we made them aware of the situation.

* How are the kids actvities? There were tons of activities, but my kids didn't participate.

* Since the condo has a kitchen, would you recommend bringing anything that they have overlooked? They give you coffee, filters, laundry soap (1 sample box), and 3 or 4 packets of dishwasher soap. We ran out of coffee on the second day and ended up going to Walgreens (Publix was closed.) to buy a small can.

* Any suggestions on making check in/check out easier? It's a very easy process. The one thing I would caution you on is making local calls from your room. We didn't know that they charged you for that and ended up paying $0.58 for a local call!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Overall, we had a great time at the Fountains and would go back again. We own a Bluegreen timeshare and during our update meeting, we were told that their future plans include a water park, a strip mall, and a restaurant. One word of caution.... If you choose to do the timeshare presentation for the Disney money, it can be a hard sell. Depending on what sales agent you get, they can be a bit pushy. Also, others have reported getting $75 in Disney money. We were only offered $50. Otherwise, we had a most outstanding time! Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Hi Scott,

We just got back from the Fountains and had a great time! Our room looked a bit different than your photos. Do you mind if I ask what building you were in? I like the decor in your building better and will request that building when we stay there next time. Thanks! :goodvibes

Hi Tracy! :wave2: Glad you had a good time! :sunny: Did you say hi to Mickey for me? :earsboy: I think we were in building #3. I know it's in the older section, but it was right on the lake and everything was in real good shape.

We were very pleased with the fountains and would stay there again. The condos are great. I loved the washer/dryer personally. parks are really about 10 minutes. THe kids loved the pool and it was nicely heated. The tub in the master is real nice. Loved having 3 TV's avail. It beats trying to share a room in a hotel.

Can any recent visitors tell me: What is the status of the construction on property of the new buildings - is it noisy?

Also - do they have high speed internet (or any other internet access) available anywhere on the property if I/we bring our own laptop?

Thanks -
Maddle
