The fort and hurricane milton

As I tell the kids, to me and DW, "EVERYDAY IS SATURDAY".

So they have to BE SPECIFIC about days they're coming to visit, blah blah blah. I also put a lot of things on a 12-month calendar to help know 'where' we're supposed to be 'when'. Like our DISMeet later this month.
:sad2:

1. I have been retired since 2005.
2. I am officially elder - or older.
3. We know it is Sunday because of church.
4. The only time is how much more of we have left !!!

Rusty

PS-
Being retired, we get to travel or do more local restaurants.
Whwn not Rusty, I am referred to as "ROMEO".

I understand completely, Stormy.:worship:

We (me and DW) have been retired since 2020 and when our (working) kids call to discuss date-related stuff, I admit I'm a little lost.

PS - the kids will call us on the weekend and say stuff like, "what are you going to do tomorrow?" And I tell them I'll wait until I wake up then and figure out which FIRE to put out FIRST. And, if there's no fire :confused3, we MIGHT take a nap after lunch. :cloud9:

PPS - but to stay on topic, when a hurricane (or related storm) comes at us from the Gulf Coast, we hunker down and wait for the power to go out. As it always does. For about 12 hours. We just "don't open the refrigerator". :sad2:

Retirement is great, isn't it? I tell everyone "I worked all my life for this!".

Big yes to putting it all on a calendar. I have my iCal actually 'color coded' for family and events with numerous 'reminders' lol. As far as the kids, more than once we've called ahead to drop by and been told "You DO know this is a workday, right?".

When the power goes out here, we hook up the fridge, TV, router, and a few lights to our camping generator (safely on the back deck) or our Yeti 3000 battery so we can open the fridge with impunity lol. Since I'm West Coast our outages are either due to wildfires/predicted winds or car vs power pole accidents so rarely last more than 2 - 6 hours. Although we've been pretty lucky because we're on the same 'grid' as a fire station so aren't subject to 'planned' power cuts like others in the area are.

DH and I were lucky enough to retire in our mid-50s, back in 2011. Life is sweet. But I yield the "I've been retired longer than you" crown to @TheRustyScupper .

We moved into Port Orleans during Ian for about a week. Never got to go back to the fort. The food court was on limited service for a few days and the bar was crowded. Same as what you said this time, no big things down. It was funny looking at the trash cans with ropes around them holding them down. Our camper did well at the Magic Kingdom Parking lot. I only saw one damaged, it looked like it wasn't chocked well and rolled backwards bending the stabilizing jacks. It wasn't like being at the fort, but the dog thought it was ok.
