Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by! My DH and I have just returned from our second trip to the world this year due to our fab Premier APs. Its been a wonderful year doing Disney, and this last trip was sadly our last for awhile. So total, we've spent 26 days in Disneyland/WDW, with 20 of those being WDW. That said, we've eaten at quite a few places and experienced a lot of different dining options.

For this trip, we were going primarily to spend time with DH's parents. We went with them back in May of 2010. They're great for a lot of reasons, but on a WDW vacation, they are awesome because we get to use their RCI points and stay DVC. Also, they let me have full control of all our plans, most importantly DINING! They relinquish every part of every thing to me. Whatever food I recommend, they order too. However, this comes to haunt me later on...you'll see!

Also on this trip I got to order a cake for the first time. We used Brian from the Contemporary and were more than impressed and pleased with our cake.

Ok, so lets talk about who ate all this food.

Me - I'm the least pickiest person I know. The more strange and different and unique, the better. Its it the nightly special? Perfect! Do most people not like it because its too spicy? Bring it! Eat an appetizer as an entree? OK! Burgers, pizza, salad, sandwiches are also ok. I also like vegetarian meals sometimes too. By habit, DH and I eat pretty healthy at home, so vacations are the time to splurge.

DH - My best friend and foodie buddy in crime. Gets less picky every year. I like to think I had something to do with it! Deep down, he's a meat and potatoes guy. Hates too much seasoning, would rather taste the meat, not the sauce and "stuff" on it. Strongly detests most condiments/sauces that are creamy (and rather fatty) like mayo, most dressings, alfredo type sauces, and buttery toppings for steak and the like.

DFIL - Likes what he likes and he's sticking too it. Nothing too gourmet or weird for this guy. Cut out the foofy stuff and get this man meat and potatoes. (Like father like son!) Likes snacking, so food and wine was awesome for him. Enjoys most foods and always found something that sounded good to him anytime we ate. Will always ask what everyone else is having before making a decision - although I do that too sometimes!

DMIL - Also not a picky eater. Willing to be a bit adventurous at times. And this woman is a sucker for sweet things. Dessert is probably one of her favorites, which I love about her! Will always take a recommendation on what to eat and usually goes with that. Also really enjoyed food and wine festival, snacking around world showcase and trying new things.

And some faces to go with these reviews, here we are at Brown Derby, toasting to my DFIL's birthday.

After we checked in around 10pm, we went straight to the food court. DH couldn't wait, and ate Chic-fil-a at the airport - those nuggets are his fav. Haha! So being so late in Orlando, and after traveling all day, I wasn't very on top of my picture taking. So thanks to wdwinfo.com, this post will have a few more pics!

Anyway, back to Disney food. I was so hungry but for some reason, nothing looked good...:confused3 The place was so busy, and not as large as I expected, considering the size of the resort.

The menu is overwhelming, actually. I understand the purpose of having different areas and different lines, but I feel like it would be hard if you had a large family. Or were a single parent with kids who wanted something from each place. By the time you had all your food, the first food would be cold. In fact, on another night, DMIL got her food so fast that she had eaten half of it before the rest of us even sat down at the table. I digress though, food courts are also a great option when you have many opinions, tastes, and personalities in one group, and are looking for a great value. The atmosphere is almost always rather loud and busy, though. Keep in mind, it is the only food option available at the resort, for about 1900 rooms...

I finally decided on chicken alfredo. With dinner, it includes a side salad too. Which was a perfect snack for DH. There was no line for the pasta, so I was relieved. However, there was no more salad, and the CM didn't realize this until she had put my chicken on the plate. She left it sitting there for 5 minutes (while she disappeared into the back to retrieve three trays of salad, put them each away in a refrigerator and then returned the cart) and then returned to add pasta (which was just made, so that was a plus), sauce and a breadstick. I didn't care at that point, but in retrospect, not the best service. However, a line of ten people formed behind me, so they sped things up after me, most all of them came out with the same chicken alfredo.

Chicken Penne Alfredo w/Breadstick - $8.19 (Lunch Only) W/Salad $10.19 (Dinner Only)

Ok, so I probably dragged that out a little long. I promise to be less verbose as time goes on, at least I hope so!

The chicken was much better than I expected. Albeit it being more lukewarm than hot, it was a juicy chicken breast, with a light crispy coating. I thought it was going to be a thick breading, but I was really surprised. The sauce was also really good. It wasn't overly seasoned, or overly thick and heavy. It had a great consistency, cheesy but not too salty either. The pasta was a tiny bit overcooked, but plentiful. The breadstick was pretty standard, but had an awesome garlic flavor. I ate this first and pretty much devoured it in two bites.

DH liked the salad alot. The dressing reminded me of Olive Garden's house salad dressing. It was kinda overly saturated as there was pretty much soup left after he ate it. A light, refreshing side - perfect addition for my carb loaded entree.

This meal overall was a 7/10 in quick service standards, and definitley hit the spot.

Nice to see a glimpse of the food court! That chicken actually does look really good! And the breadstick sounds yummy too :goodvibes

Sleepy Hollow at Liberty Square - Magic Kingdom

Being on Phoenix time, we were a bit jet legged on Sunday morning. We woke up around 6am, and realizing it was so early we fell back asleep. When we woke again, it was 8:15! This isn't too rare for me, but for DH, it was unheard of! We realized the chance of making rope drop was out of the question, and our plans to grab something at the food court. So we decided we'd eat at the park (I must have been drowsy at this point...).

On the way to the park, I remembered reading somewhere that MK lacked breakfast quick service options. I googled on my phone real quick and found the bakery to be the only option. By the time we were walking down main street, it was almost 10am, and the park was filling up quickly. So naturally, the bakery had a 20ppl deep line. DH promises to find me something else. After walking to Adventureland and Frontierland, while being famished and in a state of "uhh...I told you there wasn't anymore breakfast places...but I don't want to say anything because you already know...":rotfl:, we asked a CM for options. She had no clue. :confused3 This turned out to be a reoccurring trend on the trip - CMs claiming they were new and didn't know, yet.

And then, through Liberty Square, I smelled the most delicious mouthwatering scent. First, it was like, "HOT FOOD!" And then I remembered a little place called Sleepy Hollow. Fried funnel cakes scents and powdered sugar and cinnamon filled the air. YUM!

We both got waffles, each with different toppings. Turned out DH's earlier breakfast of beef jerky wasn't enough.

From allears menus, we got Mickey-shaped Waffle - dusted with powdered sugar or cinnamon $4.59 - topped with strawberries and whipped cream $5.59

Oh wow were these delicious. We rarely feast on treats like these. Also, we're usually pretty healthy breakfast eaters - proved wrong by most vacations :rolleyes1 Give me granola, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt...LOL. But waffles, oh wow. There is something in these waffles. And would you believe out of all the trips to WDW and DLR, this might have been my first Mickey waffle?? DH loves cinnamon and said his waffle was delicious. This was perfect for him because he doesn't like maple syrup. My strawberries were delicious, not too ice-cream-sundae-strawberry-like either.

We also had a view of the show that they do in front of the castle. Made for some nice ambiance and wonderful start to our vacation.

FWIW, they also serve the traditional WDW coffee drinks here like lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolate, and stuff.

I would rate this meal an 8/10 for quick service.

PS. Its 10pm here and I just worked out, had a great dinner before that, and am now ready for bed...but if you wanna make me a mickey waffle, I wouldn't object...:rotfl:

It was definitley a surprise! A welcome surprise for sure, close to table service quality.

Thanks for joining in! F&W definitley needs its own trip! I saw so many families that were learning about the festival when they arrived at Epcot that day. I can't imagine how overwhelming that would be - especially if you only had planned one day for Epcot! I read one review where they were at F&W every day of their trip. If I could swing it, I think that's the way to do it! ;)

Enjoying your review so far. Can't wait for more.

Thanks so much! :goodvibes
