DH and I were wondering if the sail is made of white chocolate or plastic? We were really hoping it is chocolate, but will likely still get it because it looks so cool (and I budgeted for it!).

So will I crush my DH's hopes? Or is it white chocolate?

TIA

I think I recall seeing that it was made from sugar. I guess it's edible but they don't recommend actually eating it. I think some people like to keep it as a souvenier. I've never had it before but it sure looks yummy!!

I agree. I think it's made of sugar. I had my treasure chest for almost a year until it fell on the floor & broke apart. It is also made of sugar.

I can confirm it is "edible Disney" made from a sugar compound.

I know this because I was there May 9th,and ate the pirate flag from the ship before the waiter explained it!!

Here is my opinion...save it, don't eat it. It's really a work of art. The piece that I ate was NOT tasty. It was definitely edible, but not worth eating. To make it durable and SO CUTE, they have to make it very hard & it's not flavorful.

It is worth ordering the dessert just to SEE it!!!

You can see mine in my trip report www.freewebs.com/chrismouse (the photo came out a little blurry and you can't see the carvings on the sail very well)

Enjoy!

I REALLY enjoyed reading your trip report. Thanks for sharing!!!!:thumbsup2

Yup, sugar. It's called "pastillage", and is basically used as a modeling compound. All of the components are edible, which equals an end product that is *technically* edible, but you're really not intended to eat it. It's used often on sculptural pieces in cake decorating - flowers, frequently.

We still have our mast and sail from a year ago! :thumbsup2

I loved your trip report. It was easy to scan through and read just the parts I wanted to read because of the nice paragraphs and pictures. :yay:

I still have my treasure chest! It's not edible anymore because my dad's dog licked it :rotfl2:

Glad to know that I can keep the sail when I order the cookie boat this november, thanks OP for posting this question I was wondering the same thing.
