The Flippant Trip - (new TWILIGHT TR update 11/16/09 bottom of pg 29)

You can be late to the reminiscing party! I'm always in the mood to share obsessions. popcorn:: lol

Rick is still hanging tough, huh? My grandma was an NBC Soap fan so Days of Our Lives and Another World were always on at our place. I'm not a soap fan but I think it's funny that the same characters are STILL on 38 PLUS years later!

Yep, he's still hanging in there & I've always been a bigger fan of his music than the soap opera. I will admit to watching back in the 80's & a few times since his comeback......but my heart belongs to Rick the musician.
Here's his new album........he's put out lots of music since the 80's.

And since there seem to be quite a few of my fellow RS fans here.........one of my very favorite days ever..........

Very cool that you have actually met him in person. I didn't realize that he had new album out. I may have to go and have a look for that CD. He really hasn't changed all that much has he?:)

I also enjoyed your trip down memory lane. I must confess, I had a huge crush on Rick Springfield AND the members of Duran Duran when I was a teen! You guys brought back some fun memories!

I'm glad you enjoyed all the OT fun! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for all the nice comments about the family.

It's great to have another DD fan. Neither you or Disneygrl look old enough to have been Duranies (or Springfield fans)!

Wow, thanks for the fun link! He definitely has not changed much (now I don't have to go watch a recent episode of GH to see what he looks like :cool1: ). He reminds me too much of the lead singer for The Cars, Rick O'Casic (I have no idea how to spell that)

That's such a cool picture! It's great to put a face to your name.. thanks for posting that. :goodvibes How lucky for you to have met "the man" :cool2: I would have given my right arm ... seriously... to have met a Duran Duran member.

Hi Nat! Let me know if you get the CD and if you liked it.. I"m always too cheap to try "new" music :rolleyes1

Didn't mean to hijack your thread Melissa with my Rick Springfield obsession. Oh yeah & thanks for the "you look too young to be a RS fan" comment. Wish it was true. I loved Duran Duran too...they were on A & E private sessions a couple of Sundays ago, if you didn't see it I bet you could find it on YouTube.
Great to see so many other RS fans  & yes the new CD is awesome!!!!!!!!!
Now back to Melissa's DL trippie.....:happytv:

Are you kidding?? I'm on the Dis Top 10 Most Wanted Thread-Jackers List!

I'm all about thread jacking and OT. It's how I roll. :smokin:

I'm totally going to check for it on youtube. When I was in 7th grade my girlfriends and I each wrote "Please Please help us meet Duran Duran" like oh.... 8,000 times, or some such nonsense, and sent it to our local Channel 54 type station because we had seen them do a blip on the cable access the year before. We actually got a phone call from the station saying they were in disbelief at our tenaciousness (must not have teenage girls in the house) and they would be happy to have us on the show to meet them BUT there was no way Duran Duran would ever come back to their show as they were now TOO BIG for cable access. :rotfl:

Ahh, youth.

Are you kidding?! I can't speak for Disneygrl, but I'm old!! I'll be the big 4-0 on my next birthday :scared1:

DD was the first concert that I was allowed to go to with just my friends, no parents tagging along, oh what a good time we had! :cloud9: I just knew I was going to marry John Taylor :lmao:

I was a big RS fan too, I remember going to see his movie on opening night (geez, I can't remember the name of it now - see I told you I was old  ) and just screaming like crazy when we saw his bare bottom on the big screen!

:lmao: Sooner Girl........I already turned the big 4-0 last Halloween so I am about to big the big 4-1.

Rick still references how many people saw his naked butt in "Hard to Hold" in his concerts sometimes before he sings Love Somebody.

HA! That's so funny! Duran Duran was my first concert alone, too! I was 15 and it was 1985... they shot the video for "The Reflex" at the Oakland Colloseum (SP??) the day after we were there for the concert (at the Oakland Colloseum). :lmao: I could have sworn Nick Rhodes looked at me and I definitely felt faint... dunno that I actually lost consiousness but I ended up back stage for a minute! It was all the rage to faint. :faint:

Yes, goodtimes, indeed!

P.S. if you need help with the math, that makes me 38! :teacher:

Eww, Rick Springfields BUTT???

:lmao:

Jean Claude had a good scene doing the splits once.. that's about all the butt I was interested in.

Now come on guys, give poor Pooh a break! I love that ride just because it's Pooh and especially because my DD does.

travelmel, I do have to agree. The 80's were not real nice to me either. Of course, most of it, I did to myself. :sad2: Now here I am trying to raise a teenage son and hope I get him past the same sort of stuff. WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Raising kids is TOUGH! Fo show. Let's hope we luck out and have things go well for us.

Robert,

I love how your pics never mess up the magic inside a dark ride. Thanks for posting that for me!!
