Oh my, those pictures are kind of scary. We never did get to ride that ride when we were at WDW last August. Now I'm not sure it I should:lmao:

This seems an odd place to write my repy--a dozen pages from where I was reading! My goodness you have had an enormous readership. Anyway, I've finished your incredibly busy first day. I can hardly believe you packed so much into a single day, although we had similar good luck with Sunday early morning hour this past summer, too. As you said, it pays to do a little studying and planning and it certainly pays to use Fast Pass. I will read Day Two tomorrow. I should have been walking Pluto and getting ready for bed instead of reading your report, but you know how that goes. I'll just read a little I thought, but once I got started . . . what could I do? Your TR is a page turner.

Yep, he's still hanging in there & I've always been a bigger fan of his music than the soap opera. I will admit to watching back in the 80's & a few times since his comeback......but my heart belongs to Rick the musician.
Here's his new album........he's put out lots of music since the 80's.

And since there seem to be quite a few of my fellow RS fans here.........one of my very favorite days ever..........

Melanie! You always get to meet the celebraties!

All of the pictures on the previous page give me a major headache! (but not a constipated, boils on the head, headache :headache: )

Okay, so I am only on page six of your TR but I wanted to stop in and say Hi. I am loving it so far.

OMG, as if these cold meds weren't making me loopy enough!!!! :lmao:

So what you don't know is that now you guys are both under my spell!! :scared1:

Whatever fun you two have while away on your trip I will also feel Mmm hoo haa ha ha ha ha..... :stir:

Thanks for stopping by :) I venture off the path now and then :rolleyes1 but I never did a PTR so I'm making up for it.

Okay, Melissa, I finally made it to the end of your report. It was great fun to read. You couldn't hide your enthusiasm if you tried and obviously it is genetic and infectious as your daughters and husband seem to play along at the same speed.

I spend most of my DIS time on the DIS UK boards as I have several friends there and they're the ones who introduced me to DIS. But thanks to your wonderful report (your first--hard to believe!), I'll be checking here regularly from now on. In fact, I'm thinking about posting my Disneyland report on this board now that I have a friend here.

Thanks for the hours of time it took to produce your TR and thank your family for playing so hard to produce the stories you told us. Best wishes, Susan

You are SO nice!

I've had a great time for sure. I'm still not done with this TR but only have a tiny portion of the rest of our night at DL.. it will probably only take me about an hour or so but I just can't seem to get myself to do it! By the time I get done reading all the other people's updates and commenting and playing UNO and the likes my hand/fingers/eyes are killing me and my own TR is a last priority. It'll get done in time... what the heck, it keeps my interest up.

I plan on doing the TR for our last couple days at San Diego as well. Might as well! :rotfl:

Also, in the mean time, we still go alot of fun places and I keep wanting to TR them all now because I am addicted to trip reporting. :lmao:

I go onto ofoto.com and upload my pics there. I can add a few comments at the bottom and tell my story quickly and easily that way. Then I email that link to all of our friends and family so they can keep up with us if they like. It's really fun.

Alot of my disfriends are at DL right now so it's a slow time here on the boards.. maybe I'll get the DL finished after all!!!

Thanks so much for your nice comments and I'm gonna go read some more of your TR as well. It's so funny!!!!

I'll be sure to have LOTS of fun then!!!!

I'm way late to the party, but I just sat here and read all the pages of your TR! It looks like y'all had a great time (and all of the side-tracks are pretty amusing, too :) ).

Fellow Amuck-Makers,

Ok, let's discuss some stuff whilest Beth is away:

Now that I am part of the read- and get others to read- Twilight cult maybe I, too, need to FINALLY break down and read
H A R R Y P O T T E R :scared:

I liked the first movie with all of it's cuteness (Loved the moving newspaper, the secret city, all the kiddie stuff)
Harrypotter.jpg

but then it just got kind of ... i dunno... bogged down in story and not as much fun stuff. Of course, this is from the "watched the movie" only perspective. Maybe I'll try the book-work route. LOL

Ok, let's discuss Halloween Movies:

Of course there's the classic: HOCUS POCUS!! If you haven't seen this movie, you truely MUST. It's great for ALL AGES.

Thanks for the Link, Lynn

Have you guys seen HALLOWEENTOWN??? It's another one that, in my opnion, is a great classic (even some of the rest of the series..all the way to Halloween Town the college years can be pretty entertaining.)

Halloweentown

Also, how bout Tower of Terror the original movie?? I'm sure most of you know that the ride was based on this movie but have you seen it? It's really good!

towerofterror-1.jpg

Some ToT background trivia... Here is a picture of the hotel that the Tower of Terror hotel was based on.

Hollywood Hotel
towerofterror.jpg

On a recent trip to LA we passed the Hollywood Tower as we were zipping down the freeway. I recognized the name of it from the movie and happened to have my camera out and snapped this pic! I thought it was cool that it was a hotel with the same name. What I didn't know is that I was actually capturing the original! If you look close in the picture above you can see that the signs are the same.

My quick-pic of the Hollywood Tower!

Another GREAT Halloween movie (actually there are two.. part 1 and part 2) called Scary Godmother...

Incredible Graphics..a great movie!
t49019spvqk.jpg

Here is a clip: You can see how pretty the graphics are. It's a really great story. Funny, sweet, not too scary but plenty Halloween'y. It's a story where the tiny little girl wins!
http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/305798/Scary-Godmother-Halloween-Spooktakular/trailers

I think I'm going to buy some sort of middle of the road version of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" to play at our Halloween Party. The Disney version seems like it might be too short (does anybody know how long it is?) and the "Sleepy Hollow" with Johnny Depp, if I remember correctly, is extremely scary....Anybody have any other suggestions??

Any other movies I should put on our Halloween list? I'm looking for Tween scary... but not too scary.

Thanks!
Melissa

EDIT: This is a repeat post from mommaU4 PTR titled Amuck, Amuck, Amuck.. there may be more dis-cussion there ;-)

Ok, no Halloween movie chat... I better get a move on and at least finish the DL portion of my TR! All the holiday people will be starting soon and nobody will care about summertime trips (maybe they already don't care!) :rolleyes1

Ok... so where was I?

So last we met it the sun was setting on our last night at Disneyland. :sad1:

Dusk

But there was still fun to be had!

We found ourselves in Tomorrowland exiting Autopia. It was a GREAT ride but now I was suffering from shin splints AND whiplash! :headache: What should we do? Something relaxing...something to get me off my feet...DDB had a GREAT idea!

Bailey and I had seen a show on the Travel Channel about the Disneyland train. Turns out there is a special caboose is only sometimes hooked up to the regular train that circles the park. The caboose was built to take traveling dignitaries and Hollywood movie stars around the park. It was named it The Lilly Belle after Walt's wife, Lillian. We decided to get on the train in Tomorrowland and see what we could do about riding in the caboose.

We knew that you had to ask nicely for permission to ride it and so we did. The first conductor we asked said that we could ride in it if there were enough people to staff it. It turns out you cannot ride in the caboose unless there is a CM in it with you. You can only enter or exit the caboose from Main Street Station. When we arrived in Main Street station we looked for the CM who we had spoken to back in Tomorrowland. He went to ask somebody something and he came back and said that there were already people scheduled to ride in it and he would ask them if it was ok with them of we joined them.

:flower3:

They said yes! Yeaaaass! We were all pretty excited about this as we had been trying not to get our hopes up but we wanted to get a chance, especially for DDB who had been asking about it the whole trip. We were SO glad she talked us into asking. It was definitely a highlight.

DDB was on :cloud9:

She was so proud of herself that she helped get us on the train!

We weren't even really sure this was going to happen at all because it was all sort of "hear say" It turned out the other family had made prior arrangements... maybe called ahead or something. But they were really nice. THey were three generations of family members, grandma/grandpa; mom/dad; two kids. The older man had lived near somebody who built the train.. or something like that.. he had ties to the train and he was really interested in all the CM had to say and was adding his own tidbits of trivia along the way about some original Imagineers that he knew, etc. There was really a great deal of "magic" in the room. pixiedust:

The inside of the caboose was REALLY beautiful. It's old fashioned class.. velvet seats and brass fixtures. Marble table-tops and other great details.

So happy to be on board the VIP car
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2052-1.jpg

The CM who rode with us was SO GREAT! He gave us a running commentary about the caboose, Walt, famous people, trains, the park, etc etc.. it was really cool! It was like having our own tourguide but for free! The CM was SO happy with his job, you could so easily tell. He was smiling and just really enthused. We really liked him.

Ticket to the gun show??? :confused3 I have no idea what DH is doing but you can see our personal tour-guide CM in the background
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2054-1.jpg

CM had us all tuned-in to his stories
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2055-1.jpg

He told us how some of the things inside the car were personal items of Walt and Lillians.

Needle-point done by Lillian
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2057-1.jpg

Personal photo of Walt and Lillian added a very personal touch. We felt like guests of the Disney's rather than tourists of Disneyland
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2056-2.jpg

You can only ride the Lilly Belle all the way around DL which was fine by us. We had a great time listening to the CM and getting a wonderful new perspecitve on the DLR. The only rule was that we wave to all guests that we saw! EDIT: One thing I just remembered that he told us was that the carpet in The Lilly Belle was actually the carpet from Walt's apt above the firehouse on Main Street! Pretty cool trivia and pretty cool carpet :cool2:

Engrossed in the moment :cool1:

At one point I turned around and looked at the other family and I couldn't resist taking their picture. When I looked at it it was SOOO beautiful! I had to show them. They also loved the pic and asked me if I'd take one with their camera so I did. We were all so happy to be there! The energy was so cool. The people knew that the seats they were in had created the great photo op and they wanted to know if we wanted to change seats with them so we could have OUR family picture in that spot as well and we were like, "Hey that's so cool!" so we did. And here it is:

When we disembarked we were re-energized YET AGAIN and ready to go! We had wanted to be staked out to see Fantasmic by this time but we were so into our Lilly Belle experience it had already gotten dark and we were behind schedule! :scared1: To Be Continued.....
