OMG where were we?????
Ahhh yes... we had just left DCA and were headed over to DL for the last few hours of our DLR adventure.

I had decided I was really going to take the time to stop and smell the roses this trip as it was a WHOPPING TWO DAYS long! That seemed like an eternity of bliss to this 50-plus-day-trips-as-a-kid DL vet! I wanted to do the Whoopi Goldberg DCA thing.. the Wine and Vine thing.... whoops! Didn't happen.
I remember my mom making me go see the Lincoln thing and saying it was so wonderful and her favorite bit and all that... Blech. I hated it. I do remember thinking it was probably cool if you were 30 years old
I liked America Sings MUCH better (and that was pushing it)...
Wow, I just watched this video and it was REALLY good!

Goodtimes..
So back to the TR.... here's how these stories merge with what we did next..... I made my kids go to see the First 50 Magical Years in (I think) the old Lincoln exhibit hall area.
The lobby of this place is REALLY cool (If you're 30 years old!
... ha ha ha.. just kidding.. even the girls liked it, at least a little bit. But they know their ole mums is a Disney WRECK when it comes to Nostalgia so they hunkered down and really put forth some active energy to enjoy the whole thing for my sake
They're sweet like that
Ok, now... my saddest thing about DL is that the Bear Country Jamboree is gone
It wasn't as if I liked it when I was a kid cause I didn't really (waste of time) but I do have the FONDEST memories of sitting in there with my cousins and just tripping out HARD that those crazy bears sung a song about BLOOD in a DISNEY park!
Knott's, maybe.. but DISNEY??? it was TOO good (funny, eye rolling, ironic to a 14 yr old) to be true!

BTW.. my daughter's name is Bailey.. and FOREVER I am singing to her, "BAILEY... BAILEY Crocket.. Queen of the wild frontier..."
Man-o-man I miss those Bears... I'd probably enjoy Lincoln about now, too.
Anyway... in the lobby there's a cute little tribute to the missing attraction..

Alas, that may be the closest I'll get to my bear country buds for a long time but I was SO happy to see them, none the less.
The movie itself was cute... Donald Duck and Steve Martin.. and really got us into the spirit (even at day 2 my shins were killing me, the heat was a problem, and we were pretty tired from our earlier vacation before the vacation..). When we left the theater, recharched, we found we were entering a parade zone!
Now THAT'S a PARADE!
I went to college in a small town in southern Oregon. It was MAJOR culture shock for me coming from being a native Californian... the first time I went to a small town parade I almost
'ed! I had been to the Pasadena Rose Parade the year before and of course I grew up at DL where the parades are SO over the top so seeing those Mayberry FLAT BED float monstrosities!.... OH THE HORROR!!! OH THE HUMANITY!!!!! OMG There aren't even any lights! I was disgusted.
By the next year, however, my DD's were waving at friends on the floats and the following year we were IN the parade and I grew to be VERY fond of the small town feeling and all that goes with it.
I still love me a Disney parade, though. It's hard to go back once you've seen the best.
We moved through the crowd because as much as I love a parade, I was raised by a thrill-seekin' mama and i was taught that parades mean: NOBODY's IN LINE ON THE GOOD RIDES!
Actually, we already had FP to SM so we headed that way...here is a REALLY bad shot where I look like my chin has been removed to make room for my tongue and DDC is channeling a vampire in a BIG way!!!
Freaks, Geeks, and Space Blood-Suckers
Because I LOVE me some smiley's I always get to my limit of pics prematurely so:
TBC.... which means "To Be Con't" though I don't know if it means that or not, I just made it up. BTW.. what does KWIM mean?????
