All caught up.

I see we have a few things in common.

We too tell our kids we will buy them any book they will read.
We too have a child that is very cautious with his money, and one that is not (and another one that is not).
We too can take or leave parades and prefer the short ride lines.
We too like the middle of Main Street outside of Casey's for Wishes.

And we do the loudenoughsotheycanhearusnotsosubtlehint thing too.

Can't wait for the rest.

Haley baby, I love that you're reading this! Thank you! I also love love love knowing what we share.

You all are so kind! I really appreciate your comments. I have been out of town all week and hope to post the next bit tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for sticking with me!

While you wait, go see CARS! The Fixers saw it yesterday and loved it!!
Jami

Cars was great. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It's not my favorite Pixar film, but thus far I haven't seen a bad Pixar film.

Part 17, Day 8, end-of-March-something

Have I told you how much my E likes to dress up? He is my Golden Sunshine. He has a terrific imagination and gets into character for every life event. Since he was two, he’s been in full baseball dress for every one of brother A’s baseball practices or games. He’s the preschooler who dresses up for every elementary school evening party. He begs for odd clothing in stores. I mean odd, too. He is, as I’ve told you , a greedy little joker who sees the retail world as his dressing room. When I told him about the Pirate Cruise, he was all about the Pirate Wear. Before we left Tennessee.

When Mickey and Stitch called that morning (Day 8 of 10, people. try to keep up.) E was already fiddling with his wardrobe and effects. I love that Johnny Depp line in Pirates of the Caribbean, by the way (“My effects, please.”), don’t you? Ever since that movie I have referred to E’s accessories, tote-alongs, and regalia as his effects. It suits him just right. He had his belt, pistol, eyepatch, hat, strapped-on bag, and God knows what else laid out for the valet (moi) to ready. Whatever. I had my own big Morning Out planned. Keys to the Kingdom, on deck. My dear dh wanted me to do it since it has been a dream for some time. DS12 was pea-green with envy. I promised to take him when he is 16.

After another love-in with the delicious concierge breakfast, we parted ways. The CookMaster, who had abandoned me the day before, wanted a full report on the KTTK tour, so I had a job to do. We brushed teeth, gathered OUR effects, and prepared to part ways. I had to be at MK before the Pirate Cruise, which meant Shrek received 15 minutes of parenting instructions. Come on. He is a fabulous father, but I am the planner. He had no clue how to get E to the cruise, when, where, why, how, etc. He received his marching orders well and promised he and A would return to the GF early to pick up E. Thank God they did or this story would have taken a tragic turn here.

Keys to the Kingdom was terrific! You should try it sometime UNLESS you only like to see the Magic Kingdom in TechniColor . Our guide, Claire, explained that she sees backstage areas as black-and-white to the “show’s” full-on color. It’s a good description, too. Claire led us all to Main Street and began to effuse her love for Walt Disney, the man. I mean, she adores him. Worships, if you will. She’s an excellent ambassador for Disney and has those four Keys down pat. I want her job. Now.

I don’t want to tell you everything, or, really, much at all about the tour for several reasons. First, you should do it and it should be fresh for you. We read sooo much about Disney here that we have the potential to miss fresh information. I’m the queen of pre-reading and loving that info, but I want to keep this a little more sacred. Second, some of our readers may not want to know the secrets and pixie dust revealed on the tour. I am respecting that. I will tell you I learned a great deal about the Imagineers, planning, lightning rods, cast parking, Splash Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, and Tinkerbell (my favorite part). The lunch was delicious (Columbia Harbor House) and gave us a chance to mingle with our tour mates. You might guess I chatted with everyone. Plenty of that. The tour is reasonably priced, for Disney , and well worth a half day. I will tell you we finished about 1:30, so plan accordingly.

By the time it was over I was more than ready to see the family. I called them to learn they were back at the Poly. Mort and A had successfully delivered and retrieved E, then spent some time on MK on Space Mountain. Some of you probably think we are terrible parents for letting our 6 year old go on the cruise then going to MK. You may be dead-on correct. We didn’t feel that way at all, though. DH said each child was paired with another Pirate (Hi Zach!!!) and parents were given pagers and return times by the three excellent cast members. The kids, of course, wore life jackets the entire trip.

E later told me the whole story. His face lit up (love him!!!!!!!!) as he described the greedy pirate (CM) who tried to take all the treasure until the pirates (kids) stopped her. He had a ball and didn’t miss a beat. A and Shrek got to ride some thrillers, and I did my tour. It was a wonderful morning.

I decided to boat (excuse me, launch) back to the Poly; I’m so glad I did. It was a beautiful afternoon and I was greeted by a sight I’ll never forget. My three pirates, the men I adore, were on the beach right outside our room. They waved and smiled as the launch approached the marina. This is what I saw:

I am sorry if this seems short. You are so kind to read my trip report but sometimes I can find more time to post if I keep the chapters short. I love sharing our family’s journey and passion for Disney with you! Thank you for every single viewing, question, and comment. I love your stories!

Up next………really. Maelstrom and Epcot!

We are going to Orlando in July - not a Disney trip - but I am tempted to book the KTTK for DH and I since we will have grandparents around. You have enticed me, sista!

Great report as always - and I love the pictures! :thumbsup2

I just recently found your report, and I want to tell you how very much I'm enjoying them! I feel like I'm really right there with you. I've been having a rough time at my new job, and taking a little afternoon break to read your family's adventures has really brightened my spirits!

Plus, you know how you can sense when you would be instant friends with someone in real life? Well, I think it would be a blast to have a nice lunch at the MK with you and Mrs. Gatelatch. I think we'd hit it off instantly!
