Well thought I would do a PTR for our first ever trip to Disney ;

WHO - Me (31) - Really excited and raring to go!
DH (37) - Doesn't really get the whole 'disney' thing but I will have him converted by the time we return!!
DS (6) and DD (5) - A complete suprise trip but they both love everything disney

WHEN - Sunday 30th August for 3nts at the Newport Bay in a admirals room , flying with Flybe from Manchester . Transfers booked with ISprestige.

This whole trip has been booked since January and so far we have managed to keep it a total suprise for the kids !! We intend not letting on until we get to manchester on the sunday morning . Have done loads of planning with lots of help from this FAB site......have decided on HB standard vouchers as we plan to eat at 'annettes' 'chuck wagon' and 'rendezvous de stars' and neither children are big eaters ( and quite fussy!! ) . We also upgraded our room last week to a admirals floor .

We are not huge big-ride fans so intend to do lots of shows, parades etc too . DD is a massive HSM fan and DS is a big fan of the CARS movie so they will be must do's .

I have made kids up some suprise disney backpacks ( bargain at 79p each!! ) and filled with disney goodies such as pens, notepads, stickers etc for the flight. Also made them a personalised disney t-shirt for each day of the stay with different characters for each day ( cost me 80p each ) .

Has been really hard trying to shop and arrange things like the t-shirts without the kids getting a sniff of what is going on  especially with them been at home , so really proud that I have managed it ( only 2weeks to go ) .

Anyway thats us and our trip . Thanks again to everyone who has answered questions along the way ....I am sure I will have some more b4 we head off :rotfl:

Sounds very exciting. :goodvibes
You must have almost worked miracles to arrange all that without them noticing.

well its getting closer now and I am soooo excited , finding it harder and harder to not let anything slip to the kids . Going to get the euros today whilst kids are at a friends . Think I am all organised now , got some snacks and such to take with us yesterday , hopefully we wont be over our weight limit for cases . Had a bit of a flap yesterday as discovered the plane flybe use is a 'turbo-prop' with two propellers on the side ( looks really old fashioned) but having googled it is a new modern aircraft with good reviews  ............

Sounds good! You must be getting really excited now!!! :goodvibes

We're staying at NPBC when we go next month too so I'll be looking out for your trip report when you get back - no pressure!!

Love the sound of your backpacks, how big are they?

Can't believe that your children still have no idea! Well done! DD & I have a daily "We're going to Disneyland" dance!! :cool1:

Our january 09 trip was ment to be a surprise trip .We booked on the 15th july 08 and kept it secret for a whole 2 days and told them on the 17th !!!!!

well it is still a suprise and only 3 days left to get through without tellingthem!!! It does mean I cannot pack until they are in bed and asleep on saturday night as if I get the cases out they will suspect something

The mini back packs are just big enough to get sort of pens, pencils and notebooks in ( plus a few sweets and lollies for the flight ) .

Dont think we are going to pack many clothes as forecast is good , sunny but not scorching hot , will be packing rain jackets just incase . Also got some dried snacks , juice cartons and hot chocolate too !! Dont need towels as we are on admirals floor so that has saved a lot of weight . Bought two cheap mugs as heard plastic cups in room not upto much .

Keep buying bits for the kids , got two lovely chunky disney pens with neck cords yesterday for 50p each ( great for autographs ) Pack of 6 disney orange juice cartons for 49p and a HSM hat for DD reduced to 49p...........

My DH is finally starting to show some excitement ....well , he actually had a look to see where we are staying which is a first :rotfl:

x

wow you are getting great bargains

well done on keeping it a surprise. i hope you have a great time

We go the same day and have also kept it a secret from our DD1 (she's 4), DD2 doesn't have a clue anyway (she's 15 mths lol). :goodvibes

The weather seems to be getting better each time I look at it :lmao: Tues/Wed 25 - 26 degrees! Hoping my girls will be OK in it all day!!?

Anyway, have a fab trip. This is our second trip and almost every day DD1 asks when we can go back - I keep telling her we don't have the money!! We went Sept last year.

You've done so well with your planning - I've bought the girls new character dresses and some Disney clothes but that's about it!! Did plan to do a few t-shirts with their names on but never got around to it esp with having them around all the time and their ages etc!

I had to take them both when I went to get our euros last week - the foreign exchange lady gave me such a funny look when she asked where we are going and DD1 piped up "my gran's caravan" :rotfl2: I've had to tell her we are going somewhere as she's seen bits of packing and shopping!!

Not long now.... :goodvibes

Remember to take a teaspoon as well. As well as plastic cups the teaspoons were plastic and it almost melted in my cup of tea- it bent into a strange shape. They also dont replace the cups - I threw one away expecting to get a new one and didnt

well we leave at 7am in the morning , and I am excited but nervous incase things dont go to plan !!

Keep checking the weather but it has changed everyday , yesterday forecast was to be in 30's the days we are there , now 22 with rain all day tuesday ...so guess I need to pack for all options !!

thanks for all your help and advise . will try do a trip report when we get back , but we land 21.40 weds and I am back at work at 8am next day for a full days 1st aid training
