And DoomCookie - You don't have to re-register on the DISboards for chat. Chat registration is different from your DIS one. I just tested it - I'm now registered for chat as diskrista as well as for my regular name of KristaTX, and I'll decide which one to use depending on whether it's VMK chat or just plain DIS chat.
So I you can register as DoomCookie for chat at least. HOWEVER - I think you should re-register on the DIS as DoomCookie if it is available. It's a great name, and I have the hardest time remembering who is who if the DIS and VMK user id's are not similar. And your post count is low enough that you aren't going to "lose" a huge post count.
In fact I'd recommend that to any of the newer DISers from VMK. If your ID's are way different, re-register here with your VMK name before you are too well known or have a lot of posts that you don't want to "lose". But before I get into trouble -
re-register and do NOT ask them to simply change your DIS ID. They don't go around changing DIS user ID's for people who just
feel like a change. With 70,000+ members, changing ID's for whoever wants it is just not feasible.

. I have just seen enough people on the DIS and elsewhere run with a phrase like "anything goes", so I was being. . . um. . . careful, I guess

I just didn't want to give anyone the impression that it is a free-for-all and that they'll be able to say anything and everything they ever wanted to in VMK but couldn't because of the VMK rules/dictionary. I don't know if it is posted anywhere in writing, but in general the language, courtesy, and decency rules of the DISboard forums also apply in DISchat.
