I think today's the day, and I think they'll be hung. I just don't think they can go in there to deliberate much longer if no one is changing their minds.

I do hope the end of this will bring some closure to Travis's family, even if it's not the outcome they want.

I haven't heard lately, but it's my understanding that if the jury doesn't impose death, Judge Stevens will set a sentencing date, not sentence her imediately. ? I hope that date isn't dragged out.

OR...the jury can impose "Life" if they're unanimous, right? Is that LWOP, or just "Life" and the judge determines the possibility of parole or LWOP??

I agree, I think there will be some verdict today. I really hope it's death, but can live with LWOP. I hope that the judge realizes that if she allows parole after 25 years, people will egg her house! Question for the legal gurus. IF she were to get life with parole after 25 years, does she get "credit" for time served? Meaning, would the last 7 years count towards that so that she can then be released in 18 years? I surely hope not, but stranger things have happened.

I hope that the current jury has gone over the transcripts of the first trial. I see nothing but a young girl who felt that "sex" was her only asset and thought that it was a way of landing a husband. However, many men want to marry a girl they can take home to mom, and keep the "hootchie" on the side. Once Jodi realized that Travis had no intention of marrying her, she went for one last visit with the intent of harming him. That fact is evidenced by her covering her tracks on her journey. Once he was dead, there was no remorse whatsoever! Again evidenced by the lies and trying to cover her tracks again.

Another thought. Don't know Arizona law, but, by the information that is coming out about other states and the death penalty, if the jury does impose death, it could take many years before it's carried out. And even then, it's hard to say if it will be carried out at all. BUT, it would be ideal knowing that Jodi was sitting in a solitary cell, without contact with anyone other than the person sliding her meals under the door. I think ALL of us could live with that!

Keeping my fingers crossed!

That's an interesting question about time served. I don't know the answer. And I think that even if she's eligible for parole, that doesn't mean she'd get it. BUT, I guess if she's the model prisoner and seems reformed, she would get parole. But plenty of people have come up for parole who aren't granted it. Still, I just can't see her NOT getting LWOP. Ugh. THAT would be the biggest kick in the teeth for the Alexander family.

Yup, Jodi made HER choice to be with someone who was essentially using her. She knew exactly what Travis wanted, and she chose to go with it and try to make him love her. That's her choice, her fault. We ALL have "a story" in our lives, that define...both good and bad...who we are and the choices we make. No matter what her background (the horrible abuse by a wood spoon...OH MY! )...at the hands of her mother or being thrown against a door frame by her father FOR STAYING OUT THE WHOLE NIGHT...she knew exactly what she was doing when she PLANNED and carried out Travis's execution.

What I always said about deliberating this case is to look at it as a man killing a woman the same way...having sex with her, goading her into taking sexy pictures in the shower, getting her in a vulnerable position, attacking her with a knife, continuing to attack as she stumbles and crawls naked in a desperate attempt to get away from him, slicing her throat from ear to ear and dragging her naked body back into the shower to wash her off. I just think that they'd give a man the death sentence. But the fact that she's a woman will never escape some jurors minds.

I agree we will have a verdict today. I also agree it will not be the DP. I think if it was going to be DP then they would have had that the second day (last thurs).
I HOPE I am wrong.
At least it will be over. I don't know how soon SS will sentence? I don't think I ever saw that discussed. I have my twitter on to get the notice.
Have DGD today so will be in and out.

Prayers for Travis' family. I don't know how they have stayed so strong for so long.

It's my understanding if the jury decides life it's then up to the judge to decide with or without possibility of parole.

I hope she (the judge) sentences Jodi on the same day, my gawd, she (the judge) has had plenty of time to consider the facts of this case and shouldn't drag this out one more damn minute. And I think she'll sentence Jodi to LWOP.

Yes, she'd get credit for time served.

And yes to the bolded, the average time spent on death row in Arizona is 23 years so it's not over for the Alexander family just yet.

You know, I've been thinking about the "being over" thing. This will never be 'over'. Even if she gets the DP and actually gets DEATH it still won't be over. They will still have lost their brother, still lost all the other stuff (spouse, jobs, etc) that they had 'before'.

I pray for them every day.

You said it!

True, this will never be completely over for the Alexander family. But the constant delays, seeing that murderer's face every day, hearing their murdered brother….the actual victim….vilified the way he has been…a large part of that will be over. Although surely Jodi will take every opportunity to continue to torture them. And no matter what happens, there will be appeals, more motions filed or whatever, that they will have to hear about and fear the outcome.

If she were to get life WITH the possibility of parole, this poor family will continue to be tortured by the date of her first parole hearing looming over them. That would be a terrible terrible injustice on top of everything else.

You have this 100% correct! I do hope that IF the jury says they can not come to the (obviously correct) DP agreement, then SS will NOT even consider anything less than LIFE without.

I am ready for this vedict! Heck, DD was still in utero when this all started. It's time to wrap up this circus and put Jodi away.

Good morning all. Hopefully we will get something today. Like I said it does not matter to me what she gets. I just figured at least they would come back with life. As not many women get death. But today is a new day and they were still going for a while. So we just have to wait it out.
