The FB thread got me thinking

You might be, judging my the numbers FB puts out.

I enjoy mine for games and catching up with some people from High School and College.

There is (like everywhere) drama and silly things people right. But is is the 'social network"..lol

Yes. I got it when my teens got their account. I love it. I get to keep up with family and friend!!

No, no FB for me. I keep a very small "social circle" and am in touch with them offline. I know I'm in the minority on this; if I had kids, or a larger extended family with whom I was close, it might be different.

I do and I love it. I have never had any drama with mine, but I also just have old friends on it too. I have reconnected with many friends from HS that I lost track of over the years and its nice to see what they have been doing all these years later.

I have a DS in college and I do know while he has a FB account, they use twitter more. I guess since the old people got on FB, they needed to find something new!

Been tempted and asked to but I think I don't want the bother of setting it up or maintaining it. I use my 21 year old DD's account if I want to see what people are up to. Which of course causes my 17 year old DS to call me a "creeper" but I can live with that. My response is always don't put it out there if you don't expect people to see it! :rotfl:

I remember when it first started and older DD was in college, it was strictly a college thing and much more "private". Now with both daughters in the education field they are uncomfortable having too public a page....the older one hasn't touched hers in well over a year and the younger barely goes on at all anymore.

Yes because my friends and family are spreed out so FB is the only way to keep in contact plus I have made some awesome friends on it, and by becoming fans of my fav shows I never miss a thing

I have one, mostly so I can be friends with my DD and keep up with what is going on. I don't use it, I think it is silly, IMHO. Others love it and keep in touch, but all I see are silly comments, or little bits of some one's life that may or may not make sense, because they are comments to others that you know nothing about. Anyway, I think in the 1.5 years I have had it, I may have written 5 things and that is it.

Sure do. Love it ~ I've reconnected with many friends i've lost touch with through the years!

I also love to use the Checkin feature from my phone facebook app while touring Disney. I check in at each park, restaurant, ride etc so my Disney facebook friends can know exactly what we are doing. :) It's lots of fun! Also I can take pictures with my phone and share them via FB instantly.

Nope. Hubby and I are computer geeks, but refuse to get a Facebook account.

I got one when the kids got one. I could take it or leave it but I do enjoy keeping up with people I don't see very often. I don't post on there very much though.

I don't have an FB account and I don't text but that's just because I don't have the need for it right now.

My 80 year old Mom has one and texts (quite slowly) so I figure when I get older............!!! :rotfl:

DH & I have no FB accounts. We just personally think it's kind of lame. But I can understand why some people like it.

Yes, I do have a Facebook account. It's a great way for keeping up with family and friends, and finding long lost friends too. I play Frontierville on it too. :)

nope. neither DH nor I have Facebook. I had it for about a month but was sick of reading so much about people :lmao: "I'm going to the store now" "I just got back from the store" "Going out tonight with my peeps" yeah, I don't need to know your play by play... Plus I didn't want people knowing everything about me either. I had people finding me that I didn't want to so I was out of there  I know that I'm not in the loop but I'm ok with that

I love having a FB account. I have family in other parts of the country. Even with my close by family, my nieces and nephews are adults with families of their own so I don't see them more than a few times a year. I love when they post pictures or significant events. Plus, I am seeing sides of their personalities I might never otherwise see. For instance, I have a niece who listens to a lot of the same music I do and she and I share a lot of the same taste and it is much more apparent reading her posts than when I see her at family events. Also, I have reconnected with old classmates and co-workers. I have been out of high school for over 30 years so it is interesting to learn what people are up to. Plus, some of my old classmates have activities I never would have expected. A couple of the guys have been in community theater (they never were in drama club so I never knew they could even act) and a couple of them have played in bands or can sing. Again, I never knew that about them 30 years ago but as adults they probably are much more confident to get out there and do these things. Oh, and there is a woman I knew who shows art in galleries in NYC. Some great stuff!

No one on facebook in our house.

Also no usable cell phones either since I just have a single tracfone that has no minutes. Used as a pager (service time left, but no minutes) if my wife needs me to call her about the kids since she doesn't know which of the 5 work phones I'm near at the time.

A guy at work was talked into joining facebook by another. I looked at him and asked, "You realize you need a computer for that and you don't have a computer, right?" LOL.
