One wine pairing was quite enough.

Did you split a wine pairing? DW and I did this at V&A this past November. One FULL glass with each course would have been way too much for either of us. (It's okay. Call me a wine-wimp! :lmao:) The half-glass of appropriate wine with each course was perfect. With all the food, we may have waddled out but at least with only a half-glass of wine, we did not crawl out! :rotfl2:

The only potential "problem" with splitting the wine pairing is it will be based on one person's selections. So, for example, if one of you was getting quail and the other pork as one course, the wine would be correct for one but wrong for the other.

Now maybe if they were to do half-size pourings (2½ ounces instead of 5 ounces) and charge a different amount ($40 instead of $65) that might work.

This is not what happened for us. DW and I split the wine pairing and the appropriate wine was served with the course, regardless of what was selected. It was not based on one selection or the other for us. I can't imagine V&A going to as much trouble as they do to accommodate personal preferences and/or allergies and then serve a red wine with fish for example. DW and I made a point of selecting different options from the menu in order to try as much as we could and with each course, the appropriate wine was served even if one of us had fish/seafood and the other had beef/pork/bison for that course. V&A deserves every bit of their AAA five diamond rating.

We had a single wine pairing + a special bottle of wine that we requested months ago. Still, it was all too much. The QV Room's food and wine offerings are for folks with a capacity that is beyond us. On V&A visit #6, we'll stick with the main room! :)

All the best. :thumbsup2

P.S. BTW, we're on the road right now. We've stopped for the night in southern VA. Our dinner several hours ago? Cracker Barrel! The bill: $14.97!

I just read this entire thread! I booked V&A today for our arrival night in January and I am very excited. DFH and I are spending 6 nights at WDW then doing a 7 night Disney cruise and are getting married on the cruise so of course this is a very special trip for us. The best part is DFH has no idea V&A even exists so it will be a huge surprise for him!
I made reservations for 5pm in hopes of finishing in time to get back to BLT to watch wishes at 8. I'm thinking it wont happen so where can we watch wishes at from the GF?

If you are in at 5:00, you should easily be out by 7:30 which gives 30 minutes to ride the monorail two stops to CR. Should not be a problem. You might mention to your servers that you would like to be out by about that time to assist in pacing the courses. For most people the Main Dining Room takes 2¼-2½ hours.

Thanks Cheshire Figment. :thumbsup2

I would definitely mention it to your server. We have dined at V&A in the main dining room three times and all have been 5:15pm reservations. We have never left before 9pm. We enjoy the leisurely pace, but you might want to stress that you'd like to be out by 7:30.

This is not the norm is it? I really don't want to be there that long. I don't want to rush but four hours is too long for me. I don't mind missing Wishes, we will see it another night, but I still want to be back at the hotel earlier than that our first night.

For us it has been the norm, but we ask for a Kitchen tour each time. That tends to take about 10-15 minutes after our entrees. And it also delays the ordering of dessert. So say it adds a half hour?

Your server will set the pace based on the vibe he or she picks up from the table. We tend to savour, share and discuss our courses. I take pictures & notes as I do reviews. To me, 2 to 2 1/2 hours would seem VERY rushed at V&A as we often spend that much time or more at a meal at California Grill or Jiko.

Each course takes 15-20 minutes normally...that is about 140 minutes, or 2 hours and 30 minutes. For us, each course is about 30 minutes.

I would say the norm is closer to 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Considering the 1st seating starts at 5 and the latest 1st seating is 6:05 and the 2nd seating starts at 8:30 and the latest 2nd seating is 9:20, that would suggest a normal turnover of 3 hours (5pm to 8pm and 6pm to 9pm), with 30 minutes left over to reset the table.

What is the price difference between the QV room and the MDR? My DH and I want to make an ADR for our anniversary trip next May. It will be our first time dining there and I am looking forward to it.

I forgot to post last December after we went to V&A. It was so great! We had to save up our money to do it, but we would definitely budget it in again. We split the wine pairing but I asked if I could just have 1/3 and let my husband get 2/3. That was no problem and they were very gracious. The server kept forgetting and I many times got 1/2 glass instead. One day we hope to be at the Chef's Table.

Currently, the Main Dining Room is $125/person with $60 for the wine pairing. The Chef's Table and Queen Victoria's Room is $200/person with $95 for the wine pairing. These prices do not include tax or tip and are from the V&A website which is here....

DW and I had ressies in the MDR the week after Thanksgiving, 2010 (picture of menu in TR below) and we split a wine pairing between us. A full glass of wine for each of us with each course is too much for us. They let us split the wine pairing for one price which gave us a short glass each with each course and it was the appropriate wine for each of us, not the same wine regardless of course selection.

We loved V&A and will go again as often as we can.

Thanks for the info! I was thinking of splitting the wine pairing with my DH. I think a full glass of wine with each course will be too much for us as well. I'm glad to hear they will still pair the wine with our course selections.

I can't wait to go. I am planning on celebrating our 29th anniversary at V & A on May 6. I was told I couldn't make a reservation there until 180 days out. Is that correct?

Got my confirmation phone call yesterday. I am SO excited!

Woohoo katydyd! I'm jealous!! :worship:

So we planned a last minute short trip to WDW for DS's birthday, DSis is in town for the NASA Tweetup for the Juno launch and she is joining us and taking our kiddos to the park Sat evening so DW and I can go to dinner. I'm searching the online reservations and what do I see but a V&A seating this Saturday! Super excited for our first dinner here. It's going to be our late 10 year anniversary dinner since we could't go out on our actual date a few weeks ago.

DW has multiple food allergies so I'm guessing, especially given the time frame, I should just have her call instead of waiting?

Usually someone from the restaurant calls to verify your names for the personalized menus and asks about food preferences, usually within a few days of the reservation. If you don't hear back within 2 days of your reservation, call them up and tell them. Like most restaurants at WDW, they are extremely accommodating about food allergies.

How far out do they make the confirmation call? It's just that we're going to be in Florida for two weeks before our reservation and won't be available to call - well, unless they call our hotel room! We gave the number of AKL when we reserved (as we always do with all our reservations). Will this be an issue?

Thanks!
