The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

Hi everyone! I'm Marie and I'm pooh sized.

I'm coming home to Disneyworld in 2 weeks I haven't been since 2012 and I am so so worried that I can't being myself to start getting excited.

I'm 5ft9 I weigh 240lbs and I am a total hourglass. I am a size 16 dress but I require a size 20 bottoms! All of my weight and size are in my hips and thighs. I have a small waist and no breasts so just wondered if I should be as worried as I am.

I have been ok with every ride but was worried about SDMT as have large thighs and also Mission:Space.

Can anyone let me know if I would be ok?

Thank you :) Marie

You and I are close in size. I am 5'8 and on my last visit was a 16/18 with a 20 in jeans. Not sure about SDMT as it wasn't open yet but I had 0 issues on any other rides including MS. I am also hour glass shaped but down a couple sizes.

Not a ride or clothes related question but:

Has anyone felt or been "judged" at buffets? Idk if it's just me, but i know i will feel kinda self-conscious when going to get multiple plates of food. (Even though it is a buffet) Being pooh-sized an all.

Hi- thank you for your reply! I was worried but I feel much better now.

Just SDMT to dread now!!

:) Marie

Be sure to report back. The only rides that bother me at all are Nemo at the seas and little mermaid but that is due to my long legs. DH is tall and not pooh sized but feels the leg room is lacking too.

Not at Disney, too many folks with their mind on other stuff. For what its worth, my DD25 and a size 00 eats me under the table. At Ohana our cousin always teases DH and I for not eating enough.

I a, 5ft9, 270lbs, and wear a 20/22 in pants. I had no problem with 7DMT,so you should be fine!

I got judged eating an ice cream cone last week. I'd been good all week and we were trying to meet up with my sister and we had not had lunch.

Let's just say fast food has to be very portable when you are on foot. The person staring me down had no clue how well I had or had not eaten during the week. It was a snap shot.

Can't find the "hug" emoticon so pretend it's there. I think we know that some people are horrid and some people are kind, and sometimes people make snap judgments on things they know nothing about. Buffets...eating in general...are one of those things some people make those judgments about. They see someone eating something..."they shouldn't be eating that". Sometimes it comes through on the face. Sometimes they say something.

Side story: a friend of mine who is small and very into crossfit and is therefore seriously muscular, has a husband who is similar, and thin fit children. They had been gardening all day and were grubby. The kids had been great so it was decided the kids could get small Slurpees. While waiting to pay, a woman actually SAID "those slurpees are the LAST thing those children need". Didn't just say it once, but went on. Followed my friend outside, even. Acting like, well who knows what she was thinking? Awful.

So judgments like that can be made about anyone.

IMO the best thing to do is to realize that everyone needs nutrition, and it's not anyone's business to decide how much is "enough" for anyone else. I would try to just ignore anything you feel might be negative, and just focus on your family and happiness.

Does anybody's feet, legs and ankles swell? We just got back. I was semi good with my eating, walked 54 miles and gained 9 pounds. I'm hoping and praying that is from the swelling and muscle gain. If I'm gaining 9 pounds in a week, there better be some cheesecake involved. Two cokes and an ice cream cone better not do that.

Good news: on my last trip I couldn't get through the turnstiles at Carousel of Progress but could do it this time!!!

DH once "gained" 11 lbs in a basically decent-eating weekend. I was up nearly 5. We went to a WW meeting on our way out of town...got to spend the whole drive home dealing with DH thinking he could actually gain that much true weight in 2.5 days...you can't. He lost all plus more by the next weekend's weigh in.

Just do what you normally do, drink your water, etc...you'll be OK.

I answered you on the Uni page. Disney is MUCH more size friendly than Universal. Not saying they are perfect. But they are friendliER. And I still think you'll be fine. :)

DH is well over 300 and just 2 inches (probably just 1) taller than you, and Mission Space isn't a problem *at all* for him. Don't worry about that one. It feels tiny when you get in, but once you sit back and put the harness down it doesn't feel that close anymore.

I have a very specific physical problem with my small intestine that causes me to have to be on a low fiber, low residue diet. If I stray from my medical diet, I end up in the hospital and maybe with part of my small intestine cut out. Well, low fiber, low residue means no seeds, no skins, no nuts, no coconut, etc. When I'm having trouble, sometimes the only meat I can eat are ground meats. If I'm having a really bad tummy week, I can only eat soft foods. This means that I can almost never eat veggies when I'm out, and I eat lots of carbs. Oh, the judgement I get! I actually have friends and family who will "talk" to me about my diet, trying to get me to eat "more healthy." I hand them the printed medical diet from the Mayo Clinic, and sometimes even that doesn't shut them up. Nevermind that I see the best doctors in the world, these people know better.

We just have to be confident and strong and not let the haters ruin our good days. We have to put it out of our minds and try not to care what people think.

And when it's a stranger, I always tell myself, "I'll never see that person again!"

So sorry to hear this. I am on the same type of restrictions a lot of the time. I refer to my Disney dining diet as the white bread and turkey diet. PM me if you ever need to vent or compare notes.

I think it's great that you are getting great medical care.:goodvibes I'm a pretty emotionally sensitive person (even screaming at me would make me cry), but i've become much stronger over the years. And yes when strangers say rude comments to me I usually don't get to worked up over it, but it still bothers me. WDW is a happy place and I will always keep that in mind!

I have been meaning to say this for a long time, but thank you to whoever started this thread and to all the kind and helpful people here. It is unfortunate that there are people who feel the need to judge others without getting to know them first, but it's a reality we all live with. In my head (I am a pretty non-confrontational person!) I usually say something like, " it's sad that you have to criticize others in order to feel better about yourself." Maybe I will actually say it out loud someday! But it helps. It's funny. I work in Special Ed., and I have no hesitations about advocating out loud for my students!

Any Pooh sized girls out there with big feet? Not fat/wide feet, just...LONG. I wear 12's and am having the darnedest time finding shoes that are both cute (because come on...) AND comfy. Add to the size issue that I have bunions, weak arches and bad knees due to ACL reconstruction, and that makes it even more difficult. On our last trip, I misjudged just how hard it'd be to find decent walking sandals and ended up buying men's Merrell hiking shoes. Comfy, yes, but bulky/heavy and definitely NOT cute. Great with jeans, not so much with capris. I keep seeing Merrell Agave 2 Lavish and Teva Tirra (Terra??) mentioned for sandals, and they DO come in 12s (though per Merrell's site they aren't in 12s right now...maybe I can find them elsewhere). Anyone else in a similar physical condition have experience with these? I love flip flops but lately they're KILLING my feet and knees when waking long distances, so I want something with more support.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned these but Vionic w/Orthaheel technology are awesome sandals. They have GREAT arch support. I have plantar fasciitis and these are pretty much the only shoes I can wear (other than Nikes w/ an orthotic). QCV.com carries them and a lot of styles come in 12s. I own 3 pairs of the Tide II and they rock!!

Anymore recent Mine Train stories?? I have to admit that I've only seen one report of someone not making it on the ride, but that's been enough to send me into a worry spiral! LOL!

Thanks in advance ... also, I have the "Fitting in Seven Dwarves Mine Train" thread bookmarked and there is lots of great info there, but thought I'd check in here.

I read a thread last night called July review (on phone and can't find to link). She stated her husband was 6 foot and 335 (I think I recall the weight) and said he did not fit.

Try looking for that thread and read that and perhaps ask specific questions. Hope to help.
