The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

Thanks for the info. Probably the best thing to do is find a local store that carries them and see how it fits. By the way, like the puzzle piece clip art. I'm also a mom with a child who has Autism. I love going to DW for the obvious reasons but my favorite reason is the look of pure joy on my son's face while at DW. Those moments are to few during the school year. We are blessed to have the opportunity to go to DW. Sorry off topic.

Autism mom here too! I totally agree with your post - best thing about WDW. : )

Any news on turnstiles at Carousel of Progress or the train? Anyone shirt and fat like me have trouble with tomorrowland speedway? I am worried about fitting behind the wheel and buckling seat belt at 5'3 340 lbs, all stomach and butt. A lot of posts I have seen are bigger taller people where weight is distributed. Also now that Kali river rapids has one seatbelt will I be able to ride? The last time went on. The train I almost got stuck in turnstiles because they wouldn't it let me come through the handicapped entrance.

The turnstiles at CoP were tight in December. I couldn't get through and my dimensions are a tad smaller than yours.

I had no trouble on Kali.

Ok, we are going in July!! I usually wear yoga capris and a t-shirt but feeling may be too hot for that. Size 18 but VERY short, What do all you plus size women wear in the heat?:confused3 Pics too please if you have them.

I don't think yoga pants and a T-shirt would be too hot for WDW in July. Try finding breathable materials for your clothing. At a size 18 you could check out Old Navy, Simply Be(online only), Land's End, LL Bean, etc. Most of those places will likely have shirts/capris in breathable material that helps wick the sweat away from your skin for maximum comfort!

I haven't been posting for quite some time, but I've got some great advice for larger ladies who enjoy walking around a whole lot in warm sunny climates!

1)
I like to wear dresses, fun summer dresses that aren't too long. I wear bike shorts underneath. It's so liberating to be at WDW and feel like I can wear a dress without caring if my "underwear" shows getting in and out of rides since I've just got a pair of shorts on down there! I definitely suggest the nylon feeling shorts over the cotton ones(the cotton ones slip down on me and I'm constantly hiking them up). Get a size that isn't too constricting and you'll be in breezy heaven!

2)
I swear by using anti-chafing gels. Things like Body Glide, Monistat Anti-Chafing gel, or even my secret go too, Dove solid deodorant. Put it in the places that rub and it'll help a TON with chafing. You might need to reapply when using the restroom, but it can be a big help if you don't have a material barrier between skin that rubs. These things can also help deter blisters, though they've never worked perfectly for me at keeping blisters at bay.

3)
Most importantly, test out your clothing beforehand. Try walking 2+ miles in whatever you aren't sure will work when at WDW. How does it feel? This is especially important for shoes. Every time I go to WDW for more than a few days I bring at least 3 pairs of shoes so that I can rotate through whichever pair is feeling the best that day. The shoes are really where I usually trip up since I tend to have 1 pair of good walking shoes and the rest are just cutesy heels and flats. By day 3 my feet are screaming for a change of pace. Bring ALL of the comfy shoes you can!

When in WDW I tend to lean more towards Bermuda shorts and tanks. It helps me avoid the issue of chaffing and I am comfortable.

Just went through the first 5 pages of this thread, and just read about someone replying to someone else's dining thread calling them 'fat', etc. :furious:

I just wanted to say to all of you ladies (and gentlemen), you all are beautiful! princess: Don't worry about what other's choose to say or think. Obviously, they are just jealous of you in some way, because why else would they go out of their way to make you feel bad? :confused3 Go on vacation, leave all of your worries and cares behind (I know, better said then done), but just have fun with you and your family. In the end; the dirty looks, the rude comments, the jerks/idiots - they all won't matter. But what will matter is that you had fun on your vacation!

Don't worry about not "fitting" on the plane or the rides. You will all be fine! I am cheering you all on! :cheer2:

Just thought I would let you all know this!

:squirrel:

Anyone have the baggallini messenger bag? I was curious what the fit was like for us pooh sized individuals.:-)

Thanks so much for this thread! I was JUST about to start worrying about the rides! I've gone from a size 22 to an 18 and want to get to a 14 for a goal. I am taking my 2yr old and I don't want to have her miss out b/c I'm too big for rides.

I agree with Torrid for nice cute clothes. I'm 32, but I still like some of their trendy things! lol

Hi everyone,

I would just like to put in my two cents about being Pooh sized at Disney. I am 5'4 and 280 lbs, very bottom heavy. I was nervous about fitting on the rides but I fit on every single one, including kid rides like the Barnstormer. Most rides I felt were absolutely roomy.

The only negative weight related thing I experienced was at a busy lunch at Tusker House. It was difficult to maneuver between the crowded tables to the buffet and back again. It wasn't the biggest deal but was a little embarrassing.

Walking for long distances can be difficult. I almost caved in and rented a scooter but my pride wouldn't allow it. With good walking shoes and rest stops at benches, I was fine. I think good touring plans are important for other Pooh sized folks with stamina issues. By being there at rope drop every morning and choosing FPs wisely, I was able to see ninety percent of attractions with under a ten minute wait at each. I would not have been able to stand in hour long lines due to my knees and feet hurting so badly so I do recommend planning as much as possible to cut wait times if you have these kind of issues as well.

Thank you for your input!! Makes everyone breathe a little easier.

Love your post. Yes, you can walk. It just takes a little planning and saying hey, it's ok to find a bench. Also, water and ibuprofen are your friends.

I know there have been a lot of questions about fitting on rides, but I was wondering what experiences people had specifically with Mission Space, especially with more than one Pooh sized person. I'd like to ride it with my wife, but I remember it being kind of tight last time, and I was smaller then. We're both about size 20 US; she carries her weight in her hips, and I carry mine in my belly. Thoughts?
