The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

So we revealed our plans for a Feb visit to Disney. Our kids are thrilled! I am extremely worried about my size. At 5'8, 350 lbs and a sz 30, I'm having nightmares about the usual suspects - not fitting, getting stuck, embarrassing myself and my family, etc. I've read through this thread and know there are numerous positive stories and assurances, and I've visited the allears guide, I'm still freaking out a bit. Ugh!!

I am 5'10" tall, and at my heaviest of 375 (size 32/34) did Disney with little problem on ride fit. The one that was scary were the Astro Orbiter, but in the end figured out how to get out without assistance. I think the biggest problem for me overall was standing back up from the low car rides (Splash, IASWAA, any that you do not sit at normal chair height) but that was mostly the pressure on my tired knees. I agree with the advise of the PP on starting walking now. It will make a world of difference on your stamina and joints when you are there. Pretty much this is great advise if you are a size 30 or a size 2!

I wasn't sure where to ask this ... is there "pooh" sized clothing in the parks? Or will I be out of luck?

The problem I have found with Pooh sized is length. They are more then big enough in shoulders, but most just barely cover a belt line and ride up. Anyone else notice this

The great clothing hunt happens each time we visit. They have very little over 2X, and it is random when and where you find it. We have found 3X and 4X at World of Disney several times, a few times at the Emporium at MK, Mousegear in Epcot once and in AK at the Traders Mercantile(not sure full name) a few times. We have also had better luck finding Men's then Woman's. we have asked the CM's a few times, but they rarely know what sizes they have in what. They did tell us that the turnover is so often that it is worth looking daily, and that the larger sizes do tend to sell quickly.

I found several hoodies in 2x and 3x on our last trip in Oct 2013. WOD at DTD had quite a few options. I also found one I just couldn't pass up at CBR gift shop. Sorry I can't help with tees, as I didn't look for them much. I usually buy my tees ahead of time from Disney Store online, which I think has had better/more options in the last year than before. Good luck!

Any advice on super tall people? We are taking my dad for the first time this year. He is 6'5 and around 280 pounds. He loves thrill rides. I am most worried about Space Mountain. Any info on specific rows or seats to put him in would be great. Thanks!!

Hi,i am a big guy 6ft,380 lbs, size 56 jeans. I am looking for a guy my size who has been to Disney world recently. I am going on jan.26 2014. So I got a bit over 2 weeks until I go. I just want to know any info someone would have about being able to ride the rides at Disney or universal. I read the comments on here and other sites, but I was just looking for something new or more recent. Thank you in advance for any help.

DH is 6'1" and around 350lb our last trip. He had no problem fitting most rides. The only issue I remember at WDW was getting back up out of the lower rides, like climbing out of the log in Splash. At Universal, there are several rides that did not work. Some even have weight limits posted, and most have seats you can try for fit. Note that when you try the seats, the restraint has to click all the way, or you can't ride. Kind of frustrating as it does engage, but has a few more clips to go. We were booted off of the Mummy ride because of this after a long wait.

Disney is MUCH more accepting of full-figured guests than Universal. I have a 50 inch chest, a 48 inch waist, and I am about 5'8". No problem on any Disney ride. Although Astro Orbiters and Space Mountain can be awkward when getting out.

Not so at Universal... Harry Potter was REALLY tight and they needed two people to lock it down.. and then I almost got stuck because it wouldn't unlock. Rip Roaring Roller Coaster was the same.. but I couldn't breathe and I ended up getting lightheaded and nauseated.. so bad I left the parks shortly after that ride.

I believe the double dragon ride has "big boy" seats and the Hulk may have them also. I didn't get to try the Mummy because RRR made me leave. However, I do know I fit in the Mummy ride in California, but was a tight squeeze too.

My sister has a much larger butt than I do and she was able to ride everything at Disney. The only things that were uncomfortable for her were the seats at La Nouba (we got handicapped seats) and turnstiles. When the turnstile was a problem, a discrete request to the ride's CM would get us in through a back/side entrance.

Hope this helps some :) Enjoy your vacation!

I'd really like some advice on where to look for shorts. The shorts that I have and wear (I have quite a few pairs that I've outgrown but have not gotten rid of :P) are pretty much all gym shorts. And none of them have pockets. And I want pockets, so I can potentially go into the parks without carrying a bag (all I really need is my phone and ID; maybe my debit card). So I need to go shoppiiiing.

I wear an 18 in American Eagle's jeans, but I can't fit into their shorts. That's the most recent bottoms I've bought, though. The aforementioned gym shorts are larges (also from AE; I swear almost everything I wear is from them :x) but also a few years old so have likely stretched out with me. :P

Size 18, that shouldn't be too hard. Have you looked on line? I think Bass Pro Shop would be a great place to find some khaki shorts with pockets galore.

I know as a big girl, I have trouble with some shorts because I have a big belly and chicken legs. I must stay away from shorts for girls with big bellies and big legs. They go on for days and days and show everything!

I tend to wear longer knit or cotton shorts or capris, but I'm a lot bigger than an 18.

I am 6'4" with a 56" waist. Like has been mentioned, Disney is very accommodating to Pooh sized people. I haven't ridden Splash Mountain since they added the lap bars, but it was very doable before. The seats in the theaters (i.e Philharmagic, etc.) are a little tight. Anything that uses seat belts are no problem, just remember to pull out the seat belt before sitting down, its a lot easier. I have never (and will never) try the Teacups, so I can't tell you about them.

Universal, on the other hand, isn't as accommodating. All the simulator rides (i.e. Transformers, Spiderman, etc) are no problem. Most of the questionable rides have a test seat before you enter the line so you don't have to wait in line for nothing.

Have a great trip!

To be honest, I think the teacups are tight for anyone over 12 :) There's no place to put your legs with out crashing into another adult.

I have always liked buying shirts from Design a Tee in DTD. They have sizes up to 5x, and you get to make your own design. I have also found shirts as big as 4x and 5x in a couple of resort gift shops. Pop Century and I think Port Orleans Riverside is where I found them. I have never seen hoodies or other gear this big however.

Hello,

I am a very pooh sized woman at 5"10" and 390 lbs. Now that I have about 7 trips under my belt, I can say I have ridden every ride at WDW. I will list the few rides I had issues with at the parks in the hopes that it will help someone else. If I don't mention the ride, it means I had no issues at all. I love the pooh size friendliness of WDW!

Magic Kingdom:

Space Mountain-I had lots of room on this ride in the back seat. The lap bar didn't fit where it should, and I had a few issues getting out because it sits so low. It wouldn't keep me from riding it again. The back seat your legs go around the person in front of you so there is lots of length room, just tricky getting out. Not so much in the front seats.

Astro Orbiter- Again, I fit ok, but getting out takes some finesse.

Tomorrowland Speedway- Belt fits great, gas pedal is not for the long-legged folks, but I made it work. Helps if you have a young one to drive for you.

Teacups- Tight squeeze, and my belly rubs the center hub, but I make do because my little one loves it so much.

Epcot:

Test Track- I have found it is much easier to get buckled in the middle seat where there is no shoulder strap. Try to pull the belt all the way out and buckle it while still semi-standing, then sit into it.

Soarin- The belts are plenty long enough, but for the comfort of others I usually request a aisle seat so that I don't have to overflow into another's seat.

Mission Space- It is a pretty tight fit, but not uncomfortable. I do believe anyone larger than me would not be able to ride.

Animal Kingdom:

Kali River Rapids- The belt was not quite long enough, however, I used my trick of buckling the belt while semi standing around my thighs, then sitting into the belt. Not the most comfortable way to ride, but the ride was worth it!

Primeval Whirl- I have to sit on one side alone, as they are made for two people on each side.

Hollywood Studios:

Rock n Rollercoaster- I fit in fine with no issues, however, it is REALLY hard to get back out because of the curved floors. I have some not so great knees though.

Star tours- Again, ask to sit on the aisle so that you don't have to "overlap", and there is slightly more room.

I had no issues with any other rides. The theater seats were mostly tight, but I found it ok as long as I sat on the edge of the seat and then slid into the seat, allowing the armrests to go over my hips. Much more comfortable that way.

Hope this helps, as I know how nervous I was about my size before my first visit. Have fun! and don't let anything stop you! :yay:

These threads make me feel so much better about our trip. Last time, I sat on the sidelines the whole week. This time, I'm going to quit being afraid and get my big butt on those rides. Lol.

This is not Disney World related at all..Lol. But, I figure there were enough people here who might be able to help me. I am 5'7' and 300. I am having the hardest time ever finding a coat that has long enough sleeves. Any coat I buy that is "plus size" the sleeves are entirely too short and if I stick my arms out straight then it comes up above my wrist. I want a coat that has longer sleeves! Any ideas where to look?
