The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

It's finally time for our trip! We'll be at Disney World on Sunday!

I'm still nervous about getting on and off the rides, but everyone here has made me feel much better. I'm not near as apprehensive as I was.

Of course we're going with the skinniest women I know, so that's stressing me out, too, but I believe the fun will outweigh (haha) the nervousness.

Wendy, have a fabulous time...seriously, I was 285 lbs when I went a few weeks back...Im now in the low 270's and the only problem I had was Space Mountain and Winnie the Pooh!!! if you dont have alot of strength in your legs I would steer clear from Space for sure...that was what my problem was...not because I couldnt fit in the seat, it was because I had a horrible time getting out:headache:...and pooh was difficult to get in but not get out...everything else was a breeze...even the rides that have the bar that comes down over your head...dont even stress about it...you will see how crazy it was to worry like you did when you go...let us know how it went when you get back ...even though I already know;)

I'm setting myself a goal - 100 lbs lost by our next Disney trip, in late January 2013. That gives me 51 weeks to go from 265 to 165.

My husband has agreed that if I make it, I'd deserve a substantial reward. My thought was to upgrade from Contemporary Garden Wing to a Tower room with MK view.. but I don't know if it's really worth the extra $1700 or so (my reasons for wanting to upgrade would be to be closer to the monorail, and to be able to watch the fireworks from our room.. but I know we could watch them from the pool, too). The other problem is that we'd either have to book it early, assuming I'd make my goal, or obviously there'd be a good chance that we wouldn't actually be able to upgrade.

So what would you choose as a reward? And how would you balance the reward-once-you've-lost vs the need to book early?

Congrats on your goal! My goal is 75 by October. Personally, I am one of those people that starts to think big and go for the expensive plans, then as the trip draws closer, I start to cut things. I guess it is the couponer in me. We can afford extras, but I am much more comfortable with spending less if I can. I would love to someday have an MK view, but I would probably cut it anyway to spend the money elsewhere like maybe on a built in hot tub I have been thinking about. I don't know if I am the best person to reply since I am that way. Do what you gotta do. If you have to you can always downgrade before your trip. I hope you won't have to, but I think it's important that you don't keep the reservation if you don't meet your goal, otherwise you won't have anything to keep you going. If you know in your heart you will keep it even if you don't make it, then it probably won't work in your favor. Good luck.

100 lbs was my goal a year and a half ago (didnt happen). However I have renewed this goal. I am currently trying again for this goal. There is an App for ipod touch iphone and ipad called my fitness pal, it is also available online (free) It allows you to track your food intake and your exercise (even the littlest thing is included). This has helped me be very aware of what I am eating, and weather or not I want to log this at the end of the day and see the red overage number lol My reward is a practical reward and will be needed at the end of my goal. I am choosing a new wardrobe, after all you wont fit your old clothes and will need to but them any way. So besides losing the weight and feeling great I get to look it too :) Good Luck message me we can compare notes ;)

Thanks for the responses!

I also tend to scale back my spending. I think I feel guilty about spending so much money. I've already nixed the room upgrade idea, mainly because if I have to downgrade, I can't guarantee there would be a room available for us.. and the same for upgrading at the last minute.

I was thinking of upgrading to the DxDP because we want to do a lot of character meals, but we'd also like to try some of the restaurants with good food, but I planned it all out last night and that's *way* too much food, even for me right now! The tentative plan is to pay OOP for a few extra TS meals.

My husband also promised me a **** lift if I reach my final goal weight (which is lower than 165, but I haven't set on an exact number.. I'm only 5'2"). So that's my *real* reward. The Disney reward would be for everyone else to enjoy, too.

Oh, and my husband has used My Fitness Pal for a bit. He seemed to like it. We've just switched over to Spark People (I've been using that for a while). He doesn't have nearly as much to lose as I do, but we're going to both enter our foods in Spark People every night together.. hopefully that will be good support to keep me on track.

Congrats on your goals! It is frustrating for me b/c I have had a lot of health issues these last couple years, so I am always afraid I will be set back again. It just happened about a month and a half ago when I pulled a muscle in my stomach and couldn't even lift myself up when I was laying down. I just have to get started and forget about failing. I think my reward will also be new clothes, though it will also be a nice bonus to get down into my old clothes that are nearly brand new and I saved b/c I don't want to be heavy.

What about going to see Cirque or something? Something like that would be a nice little treat for everyone to celebrate with you since you are also getting the lift. I have a feeling I will need a tuck. I almost died at my last surgery though, so it makes me nervous. We realized I needed an auto-pap machine b/c I kept stopping breathing, so now that I have that I probably would be ok. It is still scary though!

Anyway, glad we are all on the same path!

This may be none of my business, but 51 weeks to lose 100 pounds is a VERY lofty goal. Having recently lost 75 pounds (it took me 18 months) I know/understand your motivations for losing the weight. I can also attest to the rewards when you see "the number" on the scale...

Perhaps you could set several small goals? That way if you don't make your 100 you won't beat yourself up.

Maybe if you lose 50 book a spa day? or something like that?

Motivation is the hardest thing in the day to day struggle... and having a HUGE amount to lose in a very set time is very challenging. I hope you succeed!

Just my 2 cents worth.

actually its not too much...it totally depends on what diet you are doing...Ive been on the HCG diet since Aug...I started out at 353lbs and im only 5ft...due to my weight issue I had diabetes, high blood pressure, tons of pain trying to walk, had to use a oxygen tank because I couldnt breathe very well, and the diabetes caused me to have kidney failure...I found that out while trying to have the surgery...so needless to say, surgery never happened...I had a very dear friend who went from 210lbs and is now 120 in less than a year doing it and so I decided to try it...went to not only my regular doctor but also to my kidney dr. and told both of them my plans....as of this am I am 263lbs...diabetes..GONE..high blood pressure...NORMAL...no pains...like walking:goodvibes...oxygen tank...adios...and my kidney function is really good...my doctors are estatic...and I am very happy, VERY motivated, and I finally feel there is a light at the end of this tunnel and I will get small:cloud9:

Hey Lynn,
Would you mind if I ask how you are doing it? I need to lose a large amount of weight myself and could use any advice and diet tips that DO WORK. BTW, Congrats on your weight loss :jumping1:

I agree that it is not too lofty of a goal. Pretty much any doctor or weight loss expert will tell you that it is healthy to lose up to 2 pounds a week.

Congrats on your weight loss! My hubby and I are starting a combination of Body for Life, Ultimate BodyShaping, and Suzanne Somers to work off our excess. I work in the martial arts and help people lose weight, but I struggle due to several health problems. My hubby struggles b/c he works out of town and eats out a lot. My kids and I sat down and we talked about needing their support, and we came up with tons of healthy meals from these 3 plans that can be tailored to eating six small balanced meals a day. By balanced, I mean an even proportion of protein and carb. Eating 6 small meals a day keeps the metabolism burning calories like a furnace heating a house. I run a UBC program at our karate studio, and women lose weight like crazy! I was on it before my health went bad for a couple years, and in 15 weeks I lost 25 pounds, and it was SOSOSOSO easy. My husband left on a missions trip to Costa Rica and while he was there he asked me to email him a picture of myself so he could look at my face while I was gone. I took one on my phone and sent it to him. He said: "I have only been gone a week! How much weight did you lose in that time????" My boss even said "I just saw you yesterday, and I swear you have lost weight since then!" It was pretty amazing. Then I had two major surgeries and almost died during the last one. Awesome. Now I am ready to start fresh and lose me some weight!!!!

im doing the HCG diet...basically its a diet done in phases...even though there are 4 phases, I start on phase 2 always!!!...I take HCG drops 3 times a day...no breakfast...only water, coffee and tea...no sweetener except for truvia or stevia...lunch and dinner is 4 oz. of a pre approved list of protein, 1 to 2 cups of pre approved veggies, and an orange, apple, or strawberries and a grissini bread stick....its a very VERY strict diet of only 500 cal per day...and this goes on for 40 days...you have to weigh every day and you see daily results from it so its a great motivator...after 40 days you incorporate fats...you can eat anything you want except for starch and sugar...although you may have sensitivities to some things, the whole goal is to stabilize your weight for 21 days...then you go to phase 4 and you start incorporating sugar and or starch if you want but most people only do that occasionally and they mostly stick to p3 foods...you also do phase 4 to clean your body out from the HCG before you start another round..the best thing i like about it is that if you arent a person who excercises then they dont want you to excercise at all during P2:banana:

Can anyone share your experiences with both Universal and IOA? I am 5ft 6in and between 155-165 I carry most of it in upper and mid abdomen. I know I don't have any trouble with anything at Disney but am worried about our Universal day.

I also have MS and have to wear a brace on my lower leg and foot because of weakness and foot drop. I plan on doing an ECV for most of the longer walks but any tips in that area would be great as well.

Thanks for starting this thread and keeping it active! I and my husband are also pooh sized and I read every one of these posts yesterday and last night. I have found some great tips in all these pages. We are planning a trip for April of this year and I too was worried about these same issues, particularly the rides. Glad to know that it won't be an issue. Have a great day everyone and keep the tips coming

:dance3:

I seriously doubt you'll have any issue with anything at the Universal parks with those numbers. Many rides in those parks that have dimensional restrictions have modified seating and almost all of those will have test seats out in front for you to try. I'm the same height and weigh around 240 and fit on everything, albeit using modified seats where applicable.

Correction: I must have been having wishful thinking when I made that post I am 255-265:scared1:,

:rotfl2::lmao: oh im so not laughing at you...im laughing because Ive done the same thing and then other people read it and are like wt????? that is barely piglet size lol...yeah I think you will have some troubles at US and IOA..their weight restrictions are max 250lbs...:confused3

US/IOA doesn't have weight restrictions - it's dimensional restrictions. Until a few months ago I weighed almost 270 and still rode everything. You just have to test the outside seats and, if you have no issues there, ask or sit in the modified seats.

Loving this thread. Thank you to everyone for sharing all your tips and ideas. It is taking a lot of the anxiety out of being Pooh sized for our first visit.:yay:
