The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I bought a seat belt extender for my flight on Southwest. I did not want to ask either. I bought it online for around $20.00 a good deal for my comfort.

I wanted to thank everyone who posted on this thread. I love the word Pooh-sized, had never heard it before. I'm a size 22 and have been soo afraid of not fitting in the rides.....I experienced this last summer at Six Flags and it was more than embarassing.
I no longer am nervous at all about going on the rides! This will be myfirst trip ever to WDW and I'm 41!
Wanted to say, Welcome to the Dis! We are more than happy to have you! I dreamed of going to Disney for 32 years! We finally went two years ago and are going for our 3rd time in 2 years. We love it. You will have a blast! Welcome to where there are plus size princesses!!!!

Ive found for my DH at Walmart in the big section a wicking shirt he likes it but ive had a hard time finding " summer" colors he works inside so color doesnt matter most of the time! if u find some let us know!! Ive never found any for myself though I found a cotton/guaze shirt that I love at a resale shop have not been able to find any more though I do see some in lane bryant catalog! have not ordered yet:confused3
I will look at Lane Bryant right now! Thank you! Hopefully I can find some bicycle shorts. I have a theory that they will stop my upper thighs from chafing from the seams on my clothes. I seriously walked around WDW with my pants inside out last May. The seams were killing me!

Did you google it? Where did you find it? I noticed Southwest has ones that are a little different than others.

Also, does anyone know some good places to buy plus sized moisture wicking clothing? I bought a pair of capris off of ebay, and they are great, but I would like some other options. I chafe like crazy at Disney b/c I am not used to sweating like that, and I have to wear my clothes bigger in order to fit my waist and my chest, so other areas are way too big and rub. I hate to spend money on tailoring b/c I want to lose weight. I use Body Glide and Anti-Monkey Butt, but still chafed even though it was to a lesser degree. Maybe moisture wicking spandex? I haven't read the more recent posts to see if anyone asked this, but I will now. Thanx!

Hi :) Congratulations on all you have achieved! :thumbsup2

I have a couple suggestions for you for your WDW clothing needs. Have you tried looking at REI? They have a nice selection of plus size moisture wicking items. They are sometimes a little on the high side, however they are always having sales. The other idea is on-line Champion USA, they carry a large line of plus size items with spandex.

When you are looking at purchasing a seat belt extender really check out what type you need for each airline or plane type. A friend got one and took it with for her next trip. The seat belt connection on her flight was different than what she had. Different openings and different male or female connector. She ended up having to ask for a extender and having to carry a useless one with her for the rest of her trip.

I hope you find exactly what you want. :goodvibes

Oh, thanx! That was sweet! It is amazing that I didn't even bat an eye at doing those things, but I don't want the embarassment of asking for a seatbelt extender! I hope to lose weight , and am seeing an internist soon to try and get the whole picture of all my health issues so we can implement a plan to lose weight and succeed. Until then, what I lose won't be significant enough to be comfortable without one!

That stinks that your friend got the wrong type! I am looking to see what Airtan uses for sure!

Thanx for the suggestions! I had some luck with Lane Bryant, but I am also going to look into your suggestions! Thank you very much!

I've only flown a few times and I was so embarrassed to have to ask for an extender, I had my sister do it! The last time I flew (I was flying to Disneyland!) I just sucked it up and asked for one. The folks at Southwest were nice about it. I wasn't really embarrassed at all though! Because I realized that its not a secret that I'm big. Plus, I'm losing weight, so its just motivation to keep shedding pounds! :)

What a great thread! I have read through most of it. I know there's lots of questions about rides etc but I have a questions about restaurant chairs. Is there any restaurant that I should avoid booking because it only has 'booth' seating? Or seats for the not so large person?

Congrats on your weight loss! I am going to see an internist soon, so hopefully I will be able to lose some myself!!! The one I want to go to has a great recipe for weight loss for thyroid patients. I am excited. That is hilarious that you pawned it off on SIS!!!! Maybe I should make my hubby do it for me! Haha!

Coral Reef EPCOT
Cinderella's Royal Table MK

Not had any issues fitting at Disney... wish I could say that about everywhere I go...
Couple restaurants I can add..
Chef Mickey
Grand Floridian Cafe
Kona
Cape May Cafe
Maya Grill
Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
Capn Jacks Restaurant
Planet Hollywood
Yak and Yeti
Le Cellier
Liberty Tree Tavern
Plaza Restaurant
those are just the sit-down dinners... have had no seating issues at any cs either.

Only restaurant that scared me at all was Sci-Fi because I heard their booths were pretty tight, but didn't need to worry they also have chairs and thats where my party was seated.

Thank so much for the replies. You certainly have given me a selection of restaurants to chose between! Thanks again.

Try Casual Male both in store and online..Plenty of choices and colors. Another related store is called DXL (I think).

Oh cool! Was hoping some others could chime in and help with ones I haven't visited! Thanx!

No problem!!!

No problem!!!

We like to visit at least one new restaurant each visit....So far the only restaurants that have gotten a 2nd visit have been Coral Reef and Yak & Yeti....But this year, gonna repeat more because I am traveling with someone who hasn't been to any of them

Hello! I am a +++++ size gal. I just wanted to add, that several restaurants at WDW have chairs with arms that can make it difficult to fit. However, all restaurants there have chairs without arms available. When you make your reservation, or when you walk in, just request the # of chairs you need without arms, and they will accomodate you before you arrive or before you are seated as to not make a spectacle of the changes. Everyone was accomodating and very discrete and polite. We never had a problem at any of the restaurants, and I could add at least 11 others to the lists you've been given.
Enjoy!!!

You should check out www dot junonia dot com. They have a great selection of athletic apparel specifically for plus sized women including moisture-wicking clothing and underwear. It's a great site for the larger, active woman.

just another thought...Lane bryant has 2 sister companies that are online orders only...but to me they are much better than LB itself...imo LB is really expensive and they dont offer alot of variety in colors plus they dont seem to offer alot of elastic banding for pants, shorts, etc...www.womanwithin.com is where Ive purchased my clothes for years and they are casual, comfortable and average pricing...I love colors so they are perfect...the other one is www.roamans.com same thing with them...the sizes are comparable and also the pricing...check it out...i think you will really like it:thumbsup2

you know I went back in dec. and at the time I weighed 285lbs and I gained 23 while I was there:headache::debwalk::rotfl2: and i never had a problem with any restaurant seating and we went to so many restaurants i cant even keep track...Im planning on going back next summer and present day Im down to 239lbs and hopefully I will be much smaller by the time I go so I wont need to worry about anything...but even if I get skinny:rotfl2: Im still coming on here because I absolutely ♥♥♥ this thread:goodvibes

We were at WDW April 21-28 and I just wanted to give a quick report as to what I rode and where we ate.

I am a size 26/28, 320 pounds, 5' 9" and I would call myself "apple-shaped" I guess.

Rides - I rode everything with no problem. Even some I was nervous to try before, I went on this time thanks to this thread.

Magic Kingdom
Rides
Peter Pan (one with my 6 year old and once they said all 4 of us could ride together, and we did)
Winnie the Pooh
Snow White
Small World
Tea Cups
Prince Charming Carousel (on a horse, not a bench)
Mickey's Philharmagic
Dumbo (plenty of extra seatbelt)
Goofy's Barnstormer
Haunted Mansion
Splash Mountain (bars were no problem)
Country Bears
Magic Carpets
Pirates of the Caribbean
Jungle Cruise
Buzz Lightyear Spin
People Mover

I think that's all for Magic Kingdom. The only thing that I purposefully DID NOT ride out of fear of not fitting was the Speedway. I would love to hear if anyone has ridden it and how it was. My boys really want to ride it.
I would have ridden Space Mountain, but my husband rode it with my 6 year old each time and I would just have rather moved on to something else than ride it. Big Thunder was closed, but I'll ride it next trip in October.

Epcot Rides
Soarin' (plenty of extra seatbelt)
Spaceship Earth
The Seas with Nemo
Turtle Talk
Journey Into Imagination
Malestrom
Grand Fiesta Tour

Hollywood Studios Rides
Toy Story Midway Mania
Star Tours (plenty of extra seat belt)
Muppet Vision 3D
Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
Fantasmic

Great Movie ride was closed when we tried to ride
Hubby rode Tower of Terror with 6 year old. I have no fear of fitting though, just a fear of the ride! I also have no plans to ride Rockin Roller Coaster!

Animal Kingdom rides
Kilimanjaro Safari
Expedition Everest
Festival of the Lion King
Dinosaur (plenty of extra seatbelt)
Triceratops Spin

Places we ate-

Magic Kingdom
Pecos Bills
Sleepy Hollow
Crystal Palace

Epcot
Sunshine Seasons
Via Napoli

Hollywood Studios
50s Prime Time
Starring Rolls
Bill and Minn's Dockside diner (sat at picnic tables)

Animal Kingdom
Tusker House
Flame Tree BBQ
random picnic table eating Mickey Bars. :)

Resorts
Ohana
1900 Park Fare (sat in a booth with no problem)
Beaches and Cream (table)

Downtown Disney
T-Rex Cafe
Earl of Sandwich
Wolfgang Puck Express

I had no worries about any chair I sat in. I remember specifically being worried about the chair I sat in at Cracker Barrel the week before out trip!

If anyone has questions, please ask!

Thank you for the info. I am actually familiar with both companies. They also are sister companies to Fashion Bug and Catherines as well. I get my stuff sent to FB b/c we have one close and it is free shipping to do it that way. I use coupons and combine them with sales to get my clothing dirt cheap at LB. I will look into your suggestions though, it has been a while since I have checked out their selections. Thanx!

I am the same size as you... but a few inches shorter (which may account for the few pounds lighter at 285), I have yet to find something at Disney that I couldn't ride because of size.... although there are a few I can't ride because of inner ear problems (can't do anything that goes in a circle... from Dumbo and Carousel to Tea Cups). I rode the Indy Cars a few years back... I had no trouble fitting, but had a personal issue that occurred while waiting in line that distracted me from the ride.... (an very necessary article of clothing decided to rip while I was waiting in line.... at the time I thought everyone could tell.... although no one really could)
