The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

well no wonder I couldnt find it in wallmart...hehe..thats not an aisle that I frequent...I will look for some this weekend ( might send hubby to look for it). Mine is mainly for my 8yr old son too...he chaffed really badly last year I felt so sorry for him doing the John wayne walk everywhere. Thank you so much:)

I recently came back from a trip to WDW and found one of the best things to use was Lanacane.

Another vote for Lanacane Anti-Chafing Gel. I snagged a sample (thanks Freebie Thread!) before last year's trip and LOVE it. I like it better than body glide and it was less expensive too!

It took me a while to find the bodyglide in my stores. I found it at Walmart in the section where they have condoms and um.... KY and things like that. :rolleyes1 I had to look really hard, its not a very big tube but you don't use as much as you think you would. I have found, suprisingly, that I don't generally need it but my son uses it a lot. I am pooh sized and he is not so maybe his skin is just more sensitive than mine. He gets rub rashes a lot when we are at Disney and this stuff has been a life saver for us. Cause when he's uncomfortable he's grumpy! Good luck! :cutie:

Just FYI for anyone reading this: There are two products, one called BodyGlide (no space) that is a "personal lubricant" for intimate situations, made by a company called Pjur. That comes in a tube and is NOT what we're recommending.

This is the one that is recommended for use to prevent heat chafing:

It doesn't come in a tube; it's a stick that looks like antiperspirant. No WalMart around here carries this one, but they do sometimes carry the other one. Usually the stick can only be found locally at running stores.

Generally, you can get the best price for the stick online. I buy it from drugstore.com

I was at Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday and I *DID* find a TUBE OF CREAM by Body Glide that specifically says it's for chafing. I could not find a deodorant-like stick as in the picture above, but it was absolutely from the same company.

Come to think of it I think the brand name of the product I bought was Lanacane..... It does come in a tube and it does say it is for chafing. I did find it at Walmart.... :confused3

I love the Lanacane! I keep a tube in my car and my purse and in my bag that I take to Busch Gardens and Water Country. Its awesome. Never have chaffing anymore thankfully. I also use it on my sons stomach at the beach - boogy board burn is painful!! and this has prevented that also!

I still have some BodyGlide left from March, but I think I'll buy some Lanacaine for May and see which I like better. This thread has been very helpful as I'm new to the "Pooh" world thanks to some medical malfunctions. March was very difficult with my mom who is 110 pounds and she would pull those bars down and crush me :sad2: I'm making strides to get back to normal, but realize it will be a long road. In March, I was most comfortable when I wore a cute sundress and bike shorts underneath!! Thanks for all the tips and tricks!!

I am not all that large but had terrible shin splints and my feet hurt really bad sometimes. This can be an indication of other problems ie Hypothyriod..so I would first make really sure about that. If you get the all clear from your doc then I totally agree with an earlier post regarding Ibuoprofen or your favorite anti inflamm/pain med of choice...Pre-medicate for sure!
Shoes: It is imperative that you go to a real shoe store...if you can find one that makes prescription orthotics..not that you have to get those...but this is an indication that the people working there will have a clue. I went and got properly fitted ( ok my feet are a tad bigger than I thought...)with really good sneakers ( Brooks) and have not had a problem since. This was not a cheap way to go but neither was basically losing 3 days at WDW because I was crippled.
Sandals: Dansko sandals..available at REI and often online at REI on sale for very good prices. ALso available at Nordstrom's and usually on sale at the half yearly sale. Not cheap but they last a lifetime and look fine on a larger leg/ankle.
Dresses: JC Penney is the only place I found anything..and Target had swimsuit cover/sundresses cheap..not cute but useful. Penney's was dressier.

Body Glide?..I always have just used Desitin..which is an excellent sunscreen as well NO?..maybe I am misinformed..

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Body Glide?..I always have just used Desitin..which is an excellent sunscreen as well NO?..maybe I am misinformed..

Desitin goes on white and can leave oil stains on clothing, but Body Glide doesn't stain, and it goes on clear. You can buy it with and without sunscreen in the formula (personally I don't need sunscreen in the places where I need to put Body Glide -- those spots are not exposed to the sun for the most part.)

It also does not wash off in water -- as I learned on a beach trip once. (It turns out that some fish are attracted to it; they tickled the heck out of me because they kept swimming up to check out the smell they were sensing in the water.)

I find that for my feet, Body Glide is not as effective as a double coat of sprayed antiperspirant. There are some people who can't use antiperspirant on their feet, however, mostly folks whose feet tend to sweat heavily: the antiperspirant seems to block the pores and their feet just end up swelling really badly.

If you are one of those heavier and fair-skinned folks who are prone to getting the nasty red bumps of PMLE on rarely-bared legs while in Florida, taking a good antihistamine during the trip and for several days prior can help quite a bit, along with very good quality sunscreen applied very heavily and often.

I have a shoe suggestion. I love my Saucony running shoes. If you knew you you would know that I definatly am not a runner but these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I usually buy Men's Reeboks because they are a little wider but will never again. I bought them for Disney this time last year and wore them for the entire week. I also used them for 16 days in NYC this summer (in June during the heat wave). My son just bought a pair to run in because he has a terrible time with shin splints. I did not coach him on what to buy, he just came home with them. He has not had any trouble with his legs in two weeks.

I second the recommendation for Saucony shoes. They are purposely made with a larger toe box as they were originally designed for people with diabetes who can't have pressure on their toes. Most of them are made with removable insoles as well so you can put your custom orthotics in if you have them. I find that they have great support whether you have high arches or flat feet like mine. I bought mine at a running shoe store called Fleet Feet, and they were fully vetted by my podiatrist.

Anxiously waiting a report on how the new lap bars on Splash affect the pooh sized guests...

I didn't really think the lap bars affected the front to back knee space as much as the side to side. I have large thighs and my legs were more squished in because of the stupid bar. Really, why was this needed again? I've never known anyone to have a problem on this ride. The lap bar seems like overkill to me . . . :headache:

I also wanted to add that I have used the Monistat Anti-Chafing gel for years and it is fantastic. A little bit last for hours, and it really does a great job creating a nice barrier. It's also water proof so safe for water rides. It's a must-do for Disney.

Hey everyone! I'm looking forward to getting down to WDW and showing my DH that it doesn't have to be a mad house when you plan it right, lol. I'm currently wearing size 2X/22. I just ordered two pairs of cargo shorts from Woman Within. I love that site! They are currently buy one get one 50% off an there is a $10 off coupon that you can use. 2 pairs for $23 shipped! Great deal. I recently bought a CUTE swimsuit from Chadwicks and can't wait to get it in today! My shoes of choice are Adidas SuperNovas with an additional insole. I tend to roll my feet out so I need a lot of cushion. I love these shoes. I'm new to the world of Teva but am in LOVE with my Teva Mush! Best.Flipflops.ever! I'm taking my Baggalini bag so we'll see how that works out. The strap is long enough but it may drive me crazy anyway, lol. I'm used to a plain ole backpack.

Wondering if anyone pooh-sized and went to Kennedy Space Center and did the Shuttle Launch Experience. How were the seats? I don't have an issue with anything at Disney, but wonder if this is similar to Mission Space at Disney? What kind of restraint does the Shuttle Launch have? TIA.

My husband said if he & I lose 100# each then we will take a Disney Cruise. 4 or 5 day bc he & the kids have never been on a cruise. I have been on a Carnival 4 day a five years ago. So, any suggestions on how I can do this?

So, first of all good luck to you!!! I'm sure I'm not alone in reporting that I have gained and lost pounds over and over again... :sad1: What has worked really well for me in the past is Nutrisystem. If you stick to it you will lose. The downside is that generally speaking the food is NOT good. If you are really motivated to lose though this does work. Weight watchers worked really well for my Mom but I find I need a more controlled weight loss plan as I am too tempted to "cheat" on weight watchers. Again, good luck!!

I was wondering what is your experience with finding plus size clothing in the parks/resorts/DCL? What's the largest size you've seen and where would be your best bet for finding the plus sized items? I'm a size 22/24 so I'm guessing a 3X would be good for me because it would leave a little room. :confused3 Thanks so much for your input!

I'm the same size. I have quite a few Disney T-shirts unisex & girly. I like the fit of the unisex better. I got a jacket at Hollywood Studios- girly in a 3x and it was perfect. The jacket was hard to find. It was cool & I wanted a jacket not a sweatshirt. I could have gotten plenty of sweatshirts. My DH is a 4x & he has a lot more problems than me. But we found him a jacket easier than me. As for pants, I'm tall so shorts & pants typically look too short from WDW. I hope this helped.

Being pooh sized myself, I found it best for me to wear capri pants and baggy light cotton shirts...I also used a Kavu sling bag while there and it fit great and it held a good bit for it's size.

I find it funny everyone talks about bags. I'm trying to go to a smaller bag then eventually no bag at all. We didn't start to carry a bag until we had kids.

As for chafing, I just wear long shorts but my youngest chafes even w/ long shorts. The child is thin so I'm baffled. She actually has ecxema so this is what flares up. We use Aquaphore & if she still chafes then we clean it w/ a wet wipe then put hydrocortisone on it. Keep in mind I HATE PUBLIC RESTROOMS so this is not a pleasure for me. I think I have seen the inside of every public restroom on WDW properties & probably only used a 1/10 of them for myself. We have two girls so my husband lucks out. He jokes that he will take the boys to the restroom & then says that's right we don't have boys.

I don't think any jury would convict you if you hit him with your bag after he says that.
