The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

OT here a bit..but do you know what irks me....those "Fat Police" we were talking about earlier... why are they are always really skinny people!! hehe

i am wondering about primeval whirl. The video i watched on allears.net had a little note under it about the seats being tight. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this ride????
My husband who is pooh sized 5'11 350lbs is able to ride this ride with no issues. The car has 2 seats for 4 people so each seat is supposed to fit 2 but we just ride in our own seat instead of smushing together. I have seen average sized adults do this too so they aren't on top of each other. The CM's usually are observant enough and you don't even have to ask.
Go for it and have fun! :thumbsup2 You will laugh the whole time it is whipping you around.

And sometimes a snug fit is better on this ride. I've never been beaten up like I am on this ride, but I love it! For the OP you responded to, please do not ride this ride if you have a bad back, neck issues, etc. It really does whip you around good. BTW, I'm 5'5" and 235 lbs. No problems on this ride and I usually ride seated next to my 5'1", 125 lb. daughter.

Primeval Whirl - Yup - hubby and I did this no problems - just be warned the seats have like a rubber coating to help you stay in place which makes it awkward to try and slide in daintily. :lmao:

Oh, and sit on the OUTSIDE! :goodvibes

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone had any recent experience on Southwest airlines? Because I watch nothing but Nick Jr. (four year old son...), I didn't realize they had a policy about pooh sized people and purchasing an extra seat. My DH and I are both large people (I'm about 265...he's about 350). I'm kind of paranoid that we are going to need to purchase extra seats--or not be able to fly!!

We are flying with our son, who will be 5 by then. I've paid for Early Bird Check In, so that we have a better chance of getting to sit together. If I'm on one side, son is in the middle, and DH is on the end of a row, I'm hoping Southwest won't care if their arm rest comes down or not.

Just wondering if anyone had any recent experience with this.

Thanks!

I haven't flown SW in years, but I can tell you that ALL airlines have the same discretionary privilege regarding whether to force you to buy another seat, and I believe it's written in their code of rules. I used to be better versed on this because my mother is quite large and has done quite a bit of flying in recent years. I remember looking into it because I needed her (and my father with the quick temper) to be prepared in the event that they forced her to purchase another seat.

What I've learned is this: Generally speaking, if you can put the arm rests down on both sides, they won't require you to purchase another seat. They don't care in the least whether your seatmate is a family member who isn't concerned about the armrest being up or down; they basically use that as their primary guideline. If you can't put the arm rest down, the MIGHT require you to buy another ticket.

The truth is that I wouldn't waste a ton of time worrying about it. Like I said, it's entirely discretionary on their part. You might have to purchase a second seat on your first flight, but never again. Or you might never have to purchase a second seat. There is just no way to tell, and you're going to ruin your trip by worrying about it.

What some people have done is to go ahead and buy the 2nd seat and, if they don't need it, the airlines will - I'm told - reimburse you. It's not the tactic I'd take, but it's an option.

Bottom line is that you can't worry about this. It's completely out of your control. I will tell you, though, that my mother has flown a lot recently and hasn't been forced to buy another ticket. And, honestly, if ANYONE might be required to buy another ticket, she would be one.

One more tip: My mother says that the bulkhead seats and the aisle seats have the most room. I don't know if that's true, but it's something to tuck away in the back of your mind.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I have flown SW quite a bit recently. I am 5'8" about 320 (sigh) and I carry my weight in my stomach. I have to ask for a seatbelt extender on every airline I fly on and SW is no different, but I did not have a problem sitting in the seat next to two average size people. Is it the most comfortable? No... SW doesn't care if the arm rest is down. Having your child in the middle will be helpful. Hope that helps a little. :thumbsup2

I bought the second seat on SW for my trip in October, only because I was traveling solo and didn't want to risk getting kicked off the plane or being forced to use my trip money to buy the second seat at the airport. SW is the ONLY airline that offers a refund on the second seat, and that's only if there's one other unsold seat on ALL segments of your flight (I had three segments from Chicago to Orlando, two from Orlando to Chicago, and only one segment wasn't sold out). I thought it was worth it, for peace of mind and also being the most comfortable adult on the plane (:lmao:), but I don't know if I'll do it again.

Awesome! Thanx!

I have sciatica, but I don't think it would be triggered by that, so I should be okay. Thanx for the warning though!

Haha! Good to know. I don't do many things daintily.

My problem is I'm large and tall. I am 5'8 and take a 20 waist, 1-2x top. I also have large feet, womans 12 and I am naturally thick boned but have large. I have vowed I would lose weight for disney, with only 165 days left until my trip I don't know how much I will actually lose. I have flown with no issues before but as many have said airlines are getting cheaper. My sister( she's shorter and rounder) and I are flying with 4 kids, all under 9 so we should have plenty of room.

I haven't read through the whole thread, just skimmed here and there.. I'm sorry if this has already been asked.

Can anyone give some tips on being large (5'2" and 280lbs) and taking kids on rides? My kids are 7, 5, 2, and 9 months. I'm wondering how we'll split up on rides, if I'll be able to fit on rides with just one other kid, or two kids, or what. I know my 7 year old is technically old enough to ride by himself, but I don't think he'll want to. I'm just worried we'll wait in line for something and then not be able to figure out how to make sure all the kids are riding with either me or my husband (who is not a big guy).

Thanks!

I am also 5'8" and have done Disney at weights ranging from 250 to 280. I don't think there is a ride at Disney that I haven't done. I fit on every single ride Disney has and I gotta tell you that Disney castmembers are great about being helpful. I know another person posting asked about sum of all thrills and I even fit on that. Although, I must admit, that the castmember had to give the door a pretty big shove to get it to close over me. No castmember has ever made me feel uncomfortable and I've asked questions about fitting or best ways to get on and off different rides and everyone has always been awesome. This is one of the things I love about Disney, its magic for everyone! Have fun with your kids - the castmembers will be great about helping you figure things out and you can ask before you wait in line. princess:

My favorite shorts are from The Vermont Country Store. They are called walking shorts and the come just to the knee. They are wide at the bottom so they don't rub. I love them.

I am 5'4 300 lbs
I am thankful for this thread.
I did not attempt the teacups, but rode everything else, except the roller coasters. I even fit through the turn entrances. I rode with one of my kids on most rides (ages 4 and 5) we could have probably all 3 done it. I wore sketchers D'lites for my tennis shoes. Disney cast members are helpful and patient. They know how to gently rearrange and figure out where everyone should sit without causing any embarrassment.
We flew USAir and I needed a seatbelt extent ion. I quietly mentioned it to the flight attendant, and she brought me one without making a big scene. On the return trip I asked when boarding the plane for one, and she quickly got it for me, no worries.

Trust me you have nothing to worry about. On my last trip I was a 30/32 at about 5'10 and 320 pounds. I had no problems on any ride except Kali River Rapids. If you are a large person I would only ride in the same seat with a small child. The seat belt stretches across you both. I rode this with my friend who is about 160 pounds and we had a tough time getting it to fasten and we were squished.

We rode all the other rides together and had no problems at all.

On Kali, us Pooh sized people should sit in the seats with the red straps. These straps are longer and better accommodate us.

While I knew better than to sit next to another adult on Kali, I did not know that tip! Thanks! :goodvibes

Ok so I've read through most of the posts in this thread and feel slightyly reassured that I will fit on most of the rides. But what I'm worried about is rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and it's a small world - will I cause our boat to bottom out? I am freaked out that my whole boat will get stuck and we'll have to be evacuated or something. At least if I don't fit at the beginning of a ride I'll just have a walk of shame through the chicken exit but if I cause a whole ride to be tied up then...the embarrassment is unthinkable. If it helps I'm a size 28 and probably 340-350. Any kind words are appreciated :)

this question gets asked on a lot of disney forums. my siplings and I have gone on this ride several times. we have put over 1200 lbs in one boat and never gotten stuck. thats over half a ton. done the same on potc boat ride, never came close to swamping the boat. relax, enjoy and i hope the song drives you insane. i know i'm not the same for awile afterwards. HAHAHAhahahaha

First let me apologize if this has already been asked - like others I have not read the whole thread but I do have a question. I am a size 24 5/4 and 240lbs. We are going to Disney in 17 days. It will be my Mom, DH, DD11, DD9, DS7 and myself. My Mom and DH will not ride any Thrill rides (NO Rocking Roller Coaster or Space Mountain). I love these rides, however, I was a lot smaller when I rode these rides last time.

On Rocking Roller Coaster it is two to a seat right? Space Mountain is one person in front of the other right? I'm trying to figure out how I can ride these rides with three kids and not have to wait in line over and over again. My Mom wants to tell the two little ones they aren't tall enough just because she is scared something will happen to them. They are really small for their age. I don't think this is going to work. Any suggestions?

Also, I want have my DH to help me out so is it hard to get out of these rides? My oldest DD could help but not the other too.

I have the Body Glide and I have some wonderful shoes. I am pretty out going playing with DS7 all the time. I have also been walking but I'm still worried that with three kids I want be able to keep up. My DH and Mom are not Pooh Sized at all.

One more question - Do you like to wear Capris or Shorts? We are going April 1st thru the 9th.

How tall is your DS7? Last January (2010) I took my DD for her 7th bday. She's about average size and just made the 48" height requirement for the new Sum of All Thrills at Epcot-a really cool design your own roller coaster thing. I think RnRoller is a 48" requirement. If he is tall enough I would put your older 2 in 1 row and you and him in the next row. You'll get on & off at the same time.

Last summer my kids were DD(11), DS(9), & DD(7). My DH won't do any thrills rides. The 4 of us rode BTMRR, EE, and Space Mnt.

Space is 2 cars attached and 3 seats in each car. I put my 3 in one car and me in the attached car behind them.

My DH is so slow that I didn't have any trouble keeping up with him. He's not pooh sized-just painfully slow.
