The Everything and Nothing Thread

Thanks, Pakey. It's reassuring to hear that! Just out of curiousity, what did you go to school for?

Oh boy, I could never sleep with 5 pillows! Most nights I don't sleep with any at all!

Lara: what plans do you have for the weekend? Hoping you can fit a bit of down time in there!:goodvibes

I have a BS in Accounting (well I BS in a lot of things actually) and an MBA. When I was completing undergrad, I didn't enjoy accounting and thought I'd hate it in the workforce so decided to go to grad school so I'd have more options. Turns out, once I did go to work, I loved accounting and especially costing, which were my least favorite courses.

And I'm like a dog who has to circle before settling down. I have to get my pillows all arranged neatly. :rotfl:

Hi Ev /Nots!!

Have been hanging around on the Theme Parks thread getting ready for our trip. (Joan: only 3 weeks til we pack!!:cool1:)

Enjoyed all the pictures. You all have beautiful families. :goodvibes Maybe one day I'll figure out the Photobucket/ posting thing.

My True Confession: I hoard Gift cards. I always think I should save them for something "special". Which, of course, never comes. I am walking around with 4 grocery store, 2 Targets, 1 Walmart, 1 Penney's & 1 Tim Horton's gift cards. And I have an I-Tunes card from 2 Christmases go. But that 1 is because I forgot how to get to my I Tunes library. :rotfl2:

Morning everyone....TGIF to most of you, I still have 1 more to go...but the good news is DH is off on Sunday, and he has 2 days shifts, so not so many lonely nights upcoming..LOL

Not a whole lot going on here...just working my way through the week...

Hope everyone has a great day

Good Morning/Afternoon wherever you happen to fall!

I'm in awe (but not surprised) at all the accomplishments of all of you! Both in your day to day lives, and in your backgrounds.

Meg - Hooray for the success of the magic show! What a difference you're making! Good luck in plotting your future plans!

Angelina - Your strength is shining through! I hope you have a productive weekend with some relaxation thrown in!

Dax - Enjoy that time with your husband!

Jo - Hope the first day of school was a good one! That's always such a hectic time of year!

Faith - I'm fortunate to have a husband who cooks, too. He would starve otherwise! What happened with the countertop? Inquiring minds want to know!

Sandee - Woo Hoo! We're getting so excited for our trip! We played Disney music in the car all the way up and back on our trip to see our daughter!

Diva - What a cute little guy! I bet you just love to squeeze him!

Teri - Yay for posting pictures! I love the one of your kids when they were little. Congrats on your daughter going to med school!

Shelly - hope you and your boys are enjoying these last weeks of summer!

As I said, we really loved visiting our daughter on the farm earlier this week. She loves what she's doing and they love having her there. In fact, they've asked her to stay on indefinitely and she's committed to at least another year. Her boyfriend has been up to visit her a couple of times, and they liked him so much they've hired him, too! He's been studying bio-dynamic farming, which is where Cam got her interest in farming from. I'm glad it's working out so well for them, but it's hard having her that much farther away.

Have great weekend everyone!
Joan

Good morning Ev-Not's ! :goodvibes Just a quick fly-by before we head up to our camp. Not sure what I'll do besides clean up a little inside (haven't been in several weeks), read, and maybe fish a little in the evening. It's really too hot to sit outside on the pier or deck during the day. I'm bringing my camera to practice my newly-discovered love of technology. Maybe I'll share some pix on Wednesday. Y'all have a great weekend!

Hello E&N's! :goodvibes

Loved all the pictures on Wednesday!! Sorry I sent everyone to their kitchen looking for chocolate!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. No big plans here yet. Looks like it's going to be another hot one. :faint:

Rainy, rainy night here... cuddled up in bed with a book and a cup with Peach Mango tea.:goodvibes

Joan: You must miss your daughter:hug: but I'm glad she has found something she loves so much! I'm sorry it's so hard having her far away, do you have Skype? I found that really helpful when I was away from my family!

Teri: Have fun up at camp!! I'd love to see any pictures you take!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.:thumbsup2:grouphug:

Morning All..

Weekend is over already... Only having Sunday off really makes for a short weekend..LOL...

So after a really bad day yesterday...I am heading full blast into the week. I have big weekend plans for this weekend, heading to Ocala to see some family!:yay:

So I hope everyone had a good one, and is ready to plow ahead with this new week...

Morning everyone! TGIM NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well the kids are back to school today and I am always happy and sad to see them go. When they get in the bored mode it's sooo time for them to go back. I did laundry for 11 hours yesterday. Yes you saw that correctly. I had to wash all their new clothes plus all the week's clothes, sheets, towels, whites, etc. I got another closet cleaned out (the hall linen closet) plus packed lunches and got all names on all school supplies, plus cooked dinner and dessert and cleaned that up. I was a pooped cookie last night. I got an email from Disney that has Halloween stuff. I want to buy so many things but don't have any money, wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Hope everyone else had a better weekend. I am so ready for fall!

Good morning EvNots. I worked both days this weekend so I'm grumpy and tired as I start the new week. I did go out for a late lunch with my husband yesterday after I finished at the office.

And I dreamed this morning that I was trying to fly but couldn't get off the ground. I think it's a sign that I need to lose the 8 pounds I have gained. Or I need to take flying lessons.

Good morning all! My niece started 5th grade today...I can't believe how fast she's growing up! I asked her if she was ready for school to start and she said.." The first week is always fun...after that its torture!" :rotfl:

Hi everyone - over a year on the DISboards and I just found the Community Board over the weekend. I'd love to join in.

I'm a SAHM with two great, and sometimes challenging kiddos. I am currently kind of searching for my direction going forward. I love being home and DS has ADHD and needs a lot of after school help with homework BUT I am kind of bored too. I can only be satisfied with so much laundry and cleaning during the day. I'm not sure what I'd even do, though. Nine years out of the job market - not even sure where to start. I do, however do a little bookkeeping on the side for a family member's business. Also, DH works from home and sometimes it's just a little TOO much together. I'd kill for some time alone in my house. We moved in June into a new home, and I love it but I am still kind of unsettled and not in a real routine yet. We have our second family trip planned for January which we are actually calling Kids First Trip - Part Deux due to illness for all ruining their FIRST, First trip last June. Can't wait!

My everything and nothing contribution is I'm having mirror issues right now. I had to find a new hair stylist this weekend. I've had my hair coloured "on the side" by a stylist that branched out on her own from a salon I used to go to a couple of years ago. I have been streaking my (greying) hair blonde for years but have tried lots of other colour mixes along the way.

I haven't been able to reach my stylist for weeks and was overdue so I left one last message that if I didn't hear back within two days I was making other arrangements (we're going away next weekend). Never heard back, so off I went.

I found a great guy who has been a stylist for 30 years. He suggested I should take a break from the blonde - that my hair was fried and proceeded to break it easily about two inches from the bottom. He said it looked like she was using just bleach and would prefer to add colour than to continue to strip my hair.

I'm a redhead now - well sort of. Not bright red - more of a warm copper/brown and the colour is a little dull because of the damage. He also cut about four inches off to make it healthy again. I really thought that my pervious stylist was doing her job when I told her to cut off whatever was damaged every couple of months and she'd take off about 1/2 inch. Guess that was not enough.

Every time I walk into the bathroom, I do a little jump when I see myself. It will take some getting used to but I think I like it. He said I can have some hilights put back in if I want later when it's healthier.

Welcome Radio! I am a sassy redhead as well! You'll fit in perfectly. (not that everyone is a redhead here)

Hi Ev-No's! I hope everyone had a nice weekend - busy if you wanted to be doing something and quiet if you needed that! :) We spent the weekend at our camp, just DH and I. I missed my DSis and DBIL being there. We haven't all been there together in what seems like ages. :sad1: So it was really quiet with just the 2 of us. Saturday I vegged out, watching TV and reading. I actually saw Twilight for the first time! I think I was in the minority on here having never seen it. But it was on one of the movie channels, so I thought I'd see what the fuss was all about. Still trying to figure that one out! :rotfl2: No, it was OK, but I'm not going out to rent the sequels today. ;) Sunday I walked my route around the lake, which is about 3 1/2 miles. But it's hilly in places and the weather was so dang hot that I looked like I had showered along the way. Then I did some cleaning up inside the camp, because it had been a while since I had been there. So it wasn't that exciting of a weekend at the lake!

Dax - Sorry you had a short weekend. I hope this week goes by quickly so you can enjoy your trip to Ocala!

lara - I don't think your weekend fit into either of my categories. ;) When I said "busy" I didn't mean working your tail off! You must have been swigging Red Bull! But you have to feel good about what all you accomplished.

Pakey - OK, it doesn't look like anyone had the kind of weekend I hoped they would. :sad2: All work and no play makes Faith a.......nah, you could never be dull!

Diva - I think your neice is very wise for her age!

Rodeo - Welcome! I was a SAHM to my 2 kids (who are now 22 and 26). I kept thinking I would go back to work one day, but after so long I didn't know if I could just jump back into the work force. Well, I never did, and now my DH is getting close to retirement, so I doubt I ever will. I'm hoping we can pick up and go wherever/whenever we want to go!

Hi to the rest of the E&N's!

Good morning EvNots. I worked both days this weekend so I'm grumpy and tired as I start the new week. I did go out for a late lunch with my husband yesterday after I finished at the office.

you have entered a much bigger universe!!!!pirate:

Hello Sweet Nothings!

First off, Welcome to rodeo! So nice to meet you!

It's a good Monday for me - it's our 30th anniversary! We're celebrating at WDW in three weeks, but today's the day. I'm jumping the gun on picture Wednesday with a shot from our first Disney trip together, just after our first anniversary:

Here's one from a year ago today, in Epcot:

We look exactly the same, dontcha think? ;)

Meg - Thanks for the kind words about missing my daughter. We do have something similar to Skype, which is a good thing since her cell phone reception is very spotty.

Teri - I stayed home with my girls, and then dipped my toes back into working with a 5 year stint at the local Disney Store, which I loved. I left that 5 years ago, as it was limiting the time I spent with my husband, so now I'm not working, either.

Hello to everyone else! Hope you're having a great start to a new week!
Joan

Happy Anniversary Joan. 30 years is quite a feat. We hit 25 this year. That's why we are going to Egypt. Nothing says I Love You quite like heat, sand and smelly camels.

Welcome Rodeo. I was a SAHM for about 60 days once. That was all my family could take of my home cooking so they voted me off the island and put me back into the workforce. I think it was the gravy I made with powdered sugar instead of flour that caused the backstabbing final vote. In my defense, the stuff looks the same inside tupperware containers.

Teri, glad you got around to watching Twilight. There's nothing like sparkling vampires to put your world to rights.

Afternoon all!

Pakey- so you are going to Egypt huh? Wow, I have always loved the mummies and tombs over there and would love to see them. But it may be too hot for me year around over there. OK, powder sugar gravy? OMG I am rolling here for real!!:rotfl:

Diz - I love the pics of you and hubby, then and now! How adorable, congrats on 30 years!

T*Bird - You always crack me up. I need a Red Bull right now to finish the day up. Your camping sounds like fun, except for the heat. I have never been camping before. Don't the bugs eat you alive? Did you sit around the campfire eating hot smoes?

Oh, no, we're not really camping, as in a tent, and bugs, and sleeping bags. In this heat? No way!! Way down here in Looziana, any vacation home or 2nd home, or whatever you call it, is your "camp". No matter what it looks like - it could be a shack or a 2-story house - it's a camp. Ours is somewhere in the middle. It's a 3 BR house, nothing special-looking, but our little get-away, with A/C and running water! My DSis and I bought it after we sold our parents' house (we lost them in 2002 and 2003). Now, we do have a chiminea and sit around that when it's cool and have, on occassion, made s'mores! I took a few pictures this weekend, and if I can figure it out, I'll post some. I have figured out how to post things that were already on my computer, and how to scan things and post them, but I haven't yet tried to transfer pics from the memory card to the computer. I better start on it now if I want to post them on picture Wednesday. ;)
