The Everything and Nothing Thread

Shelly- the BW slide is awesome.:thumbsup2 I actually like it better than the slide at SAB.

Plus the Sour Apple Freeze at their pool bar is sooo yummy! I don't drink but my mom does and she tried the Poolside Lemonade and loved it.

Joan- Woohoo:woohoo: I LOVE getting the ME documents. Makes everything feel so real!

I actually didn't watch the Bachelor Pad last night... but I did watch part of the Teen Choice Awards.:rolleyes1 I had to turn it off after about 20 minutes though, too much screaming and I didn't know who half of the "celebrities" were! I'm not that old!

:grouphug::hug: to Lara and everyone else going through a bit of a rough time.

I had a pretty good day at work today... one of our kids is getting discharged on Friday so while I'm happy for him, I will be sad to see him go. Bittersweet! We're planning a little party and making cards. I've been making a pinata with the other kids but since most of the kids are on feeding tubes and can't eat candy, I'm trying to think of some small toys that both boys and girls from ages 4-16 would like. I'm a little stumped!

Have not posted in awhile, life has been crazy. DD5 started Kindergarten today. I was so scared because she had to ride the bus to daycare and then get off and walk down the hill to the house, luckly there is an older girl getting off the bus and going to the daycare also.

Hi all, survived the business meeting with the roots showing. Hopefully, I hypnotized them with my brilliance and they forgot that I looked like I had a skunk sitting on my head.

Shelly, that clown pool scares the heck out of me. I can't get rid of the mental picture of what my rear-end looks like coming out of that mouth (I'm sure the other pool users can't get rid of the mental image either). Other than Bozo, it's a beautiful resort (and I agree that they have the best pool bar).

Hanging head in shame here but I DVR'd Dating in the Dark. I watched it last year and always thought it was hysterical. Most of the show stinks but I love the reveal. This show is so trashy that I can't even let slip to my husband that I DVR it; I'd never hear the end of it. This is one of those "watch while he golfs" type of thing.

Joan: no, I'm not near the coast (I live in the ghetto part of the state). Our weather is very similar to Las Vegas. We hover around 100 but can get up to about 110 from mid June through the beginning of September. We have about 30% humidity here so it's nothing compared to those of you in the east or south.

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE:lmao:

Kymmy: What a big step!! How did she do? Did you get a picture of her with her backpack?:goodvibes

Pakey: I would still trade locations with you in a second. I do love Canada but I'm dying to move somewhere warm and with palm trees. Those are my two requirements. Unfortunately there is nowhere in Canada that fits the bill!

Just got back from getting my nails done- ouch, they clipped them so short! I like having them short so they don't get in the way but these are sooo short they have that soft underskin exposed. :headache:

Now I'm off to go work out and hope to be back in bed with a lemonade and m dog at my feet soon!:cloud9:

Y'all start school early in Alabama, too! I thought Louisiana was earlier than most everywhere else. When my kids were still in elementary, it used to be around Aug. 20th. Then it started getting earlier and earlier every year. Let us know how she liked kindergarten!

Arms. So. Sore. Can't. Type.

Teri, when you said LA I assumed Los Angeles in my head... now I realize you meant Louisiana. You guys just have far too many state abbreviations to keep track of! Where in LA are you? I've only been to New Orleans and I LOVED the food. I could eat southern cooking every single day. I love watching Paula Deen just to salivate over the food.:goodvibes

Are you doing the PX90? (I know that's probably not the right name, but you know what I mean!) Do you do it at home or a club? I've heard it's a killer.

I'm sorry I have screwed y'all up with my name and my state! :guilty: I'm in Baton Rouge, which is about an hour from NO. One thing we know how to do in Louisiana is cook and eat! NO has so many great restaurants, but I have only been to a few. We hardly ever went to NO until my DD started med school in 2006. Now we go alot more, but we just go to see her. We've been to Mardi Gras a couple of times, but not much else. What can I say? We're fogeys!

I don't watch Paula Deen's show, but I love to hear her talk! She's such a fun person!

Hi Ev/Nos,
Been busy at work and haven’t been on the DIS since all the true confessions talk!

Today was a good day … my son passed his driving test and got a call telling him he got the part-time job at the state liquor store! Great … I told him he can help contribute to the new car insurance bill next month.:) So, went out to lunch with my two boys (Pakey – don’t read) had a crab cake sandwich – delicious! :thumbsup2

Luv2sew: Hi neighbor!! You are closer to Shelley than me but I’m not that far away. I like your crab stories. When I was a kid vacationing in Maine we would go out and dig for clams at low tide and sometimes hit a spot with dozens of them. Also we would take shovels and push aside the kelp to get to the crabs underneath – it used to scare me as they moved fast– my job was just to shove them in the pail my cousins were holding. Back then I didn’t love to eat crustaceans the way I do know.

My DD’s soccer game was tonight – another loss, but you know what? All the girls are just having a great time. They have a super coach, and he stresses teamwork & fun. He sent an email recapping the first week of play and spoke about the rough start (lost 6-0) and the comeback win ( 5-4) - and in it he highlighted each girl’s contribution and had encouraging words for the whole team. I was very impressed that he took the time to mention each girl by name. At this level, the coach makes all the difference.

Reunions? I’ve gone to the 10, and 20 – that’s it for me.

Lara: I’ve felt overwhelmed this weekend (trying to dig out the clutter in my house) – and then I’m brought to reality when I read about your days. So,:hug:to you. Things will get better!

Pakey: I’m with Teri – you should quit your day job – you would be a smash on the stand up tour! We’ll come to see you.

Shelley: That clown pool looks awesome, I would love to stay at BWI and go down that slide! Your boys must be thrilled for your upcoming trip.

Hi Dax, Teri, Sandee, Meg, Diva, and anyone else I've missed. I should be off to bed … talk to you all later today!

Arms. So. Sore. Can't. Type.
Hi Meg: Keep up the good work - can't seem to get started on my own workout routine. But kudos to you to sticking with this - it sounds like a killer program.

I like Paula Deen as well :goodvibes We like to watch Food shows but rarely try any receipes. We mean to, but well, we somehow just don't get around to it.

Aw, kymmy, that's so precious. I remember when both of mine started K. I cried the second I got home. I was so proud that I held it together until then. How was her first day?

Wat to warn you all, there will be several posts from me because I want to respond to several things and I can't remember them all so I just quote!

Autumn, I went to Savannah a few years back and fell in love with the place. It is so lovely, I hated to leave. I was obsessed with Paula Deen for awhile. I used to cook several of her dishes. They were always a huge hit. But man they are so loaded with fat, I had to back off. But I still make some and have about 15 of her cookbooks. And when you buy them from the Lady and Son's in Savannah, they are all autographed.

Woohoo Congrats on your son passing!

What a wonderful coach! You rarely find someone that encourages teamwork and praises their contributions and not focusing on the negative.

Thanks so much Janet. You have no idea how much that means. I am coming to the reality that I just can't do it all at once. I have to worry about my health for my kids and get active again. Right now food is comfort. I am thinking about starting atkin's. My friend has lost 60 pounds in the last year. I don't want a new man, but want to do it for me. I just have to get motivated.

I am shaking my head agreeing with you on this. I want to walk but it's so dang hot, I just can't. I am waiting for the cooler weather. I hope by then I will find my mojo!

Did you guys forget it's Picture Wednesday????

DSCN0709.jpg

This is one of my favorite memories from China. We were at this restaurant and my boss told the waittress that the pork we were eating was very good. The next thing you know, the chef is at our table showing us the pig leg where the pork came from. He wanted us to know (via the translation we were getting) that the pig was really fresh. :scared1:

I wish the picture was better. The hoof was still on it. But my hands were shaking a bit when I snapped this because I could not believe that they brought the pig leg out to the table like that.

Eww...that is a NASTY pig leg...LOL..

I will post some pics when I get home today...

hey girls!

i've been a really bad Ev/No friend. SOrry I haven't been keeping up to speed with everyone. Our kids start back to school next week and, well, you know how busy that time of year is.

Lara---- hang in there, girl. In the bleakest, coldest winter of our lives, spring comes again.

KymmyK--- awww- your baby started school. that is so sad.:guilty: They grow up way too soon for my liking.:sad1:

Pakey--- that's nasty. Nas-ty. Thanks for making us all ill before lunch.

I'd forgotten it's Picture Wednesday.

Huuuummmm.... what to post? SOmething good, but not Nas-ty.:rolleyes1

Oh I know-- a pic of my home-- Charleston SC!!

I know what an exciting and scary time this is for your DD and especially for you.

I can't believe how early everyone starts school! We still have almost 4 weeks left of summer break!!!! :cool1:

I think it looks more fun than the SAB slide too. That's one of the reasons we went with the BWI over the YC or BC.

Hmm. . . may have to check out the pool bar too! :thumbsup2

Congrats to your son! :cool1:

It sounds like your DD has an awesome soccer coach! That is so great. Our soccer season starts up here in about 4 weeks. I can't wait! :cheer2: I know DS has a good coach this year - it's DH!! :rotfl:

Yep - we are all VERY excited to get to the BWI! :cloud9:

Okay, off to look for a picture to post for Picture Wednesday. . . Although I don't think I can top Pakey's.:rotfl:

Oh boy, picture Wednesday!

Another beautiful and picturesque shot, Jo!

Here's some aged cheese to go with Faith's lovely pork:

My very first trip to Disneyland, with my sisters, cousin and Dad (dig his pants!). The year is 1972, the year before I got ****s. I'm in the middle.
