The Epic 16 day Feast...Oh, and we got married too! Update 11/17 Jiko

Okay, so I totally trust you... but shrimp cheesecake??? That is such an odd concept to me. I guess that means I need more gourmet food. Probably not gonna get it here in po'dunk Mississippi. That settles it. I must go on the cruise! :lmao:

I am from rural Nova Scotia - beleive me it was a froeign concept to me...I expected it to be more like a quiche, it was actually like a cheesecake with no sugar, with shrimp. I know that sounds gross, but it was great, really!

Hello! I am so glad I fell upon your report (found your link from one of your posts on another TR)

Your pictures are great - and I absolutely loved your wedding day!!!

"Read" you soon - :surfweb:

Thanks! I am in love with our entire wedding experience....I will be posting a TON more pictures after our at-home reception in November!

mmm looks so yummy! i would love to go on a disney cruise! one day...

Cruises are awesome!

Just found your reviews, they're great so far! Your dress is gorgeous and I'm so jealous of your Disney wedding! DH would never have gone for that in a million years. I'm glad you liked your dinner at Tutto, we're headed there in January during our short 3 night trip with my parents and sister.

Sorry to hear about your bad service at WP and FF. Those are 2 places I've always wanted to eat at. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews!

In my opinion, bad service exists everywhere - you have to be a bit understanding about it...however the thing about Disney is that there are so many fantastic places it makes it hard to ever go back to the sub-par ones....I'm not sure FF will ever make it back tot he top of our list, because once i get to the last 5 days you'll hear lots about our other Signature Dining experiences, which were all fantastic!!!

This is making me soooooo excited about our first ever cruise :cool1:

YAY!! Enjoy!

I’m warning you, this entry is a bit boring, because Adrian and I had basically the same thing for dinner – for virtually all of the courses…but it was a great dinner, followed by the best dessert on the entire trip! This dessert was not just good to normal standards…it was good to “I think I may want to live on this ship and just eat dessert for every meal” standards…One of the guys at our table actually asked them to get him some the next night – they couldn’t but they did for our last night…so freaking good…

Anyways, back to the first 3 courses…

Adrian and I had different first courses…he had the Jamaican Marinated chicken tenderloins in jerk sauce with blue cheese dressing…very tasty! He’s not a blue cheese fan but really enjoyed this!
DSC03035.JPG

I had the Island Spiced Seared Ahi Tuna – still not sure how they keep tuna so fresh on a ship but this was tasty!! It was served with yuzu (don’t know what this is), soy, and ginger dressing, with “fragrant mushrooms” (this is the only part of the dish I didn’t love – it just didn’t need the mushrooms).
DSC03034.JPG

Next course was Cream of Asparagus soup with crabmeat…it was REALLY tasty, but it was really only lukewarm…I like my soup pretty hot. The flavor was great and it was amazingly rich and creamy though…
DSC03037.JPG

For our main dish we both had the Mixed Grill…it sounds like a lot of food but it actually wasn’t…it was a very normal sized portion, but it came with a huge variety…Beef Tenderloin, Lambchop, bacon wrapped sausage (best meat combo ever), and shrimp, served with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a mushroom cabernet sauce. The only thing I didn’t like about this was that you didn’t get a choice for how you wanted your meat done, it was all med-well…and I like mine med-rare to rare, so it was all a bit over done for me…but the flavors were amazing, and all in all it was a great dish.
DSC03039.JPG

Now for dessert. Get ready to have your mind blown….

French Toast Banana Bread served with coconut ice cream and caramel sauce…seriously, seriously good food. The ice cream was amazing, and nothing at all could ever go wrong when you “French Toast” banana bread!! YUM!

This is the face Adrian made while explaining how GOOOOOOOOOD this dish is:

So far I’m feeling good – I’m still exercising, but eating to more than compensate….I’m starting to lean towards my stretchy shorts more and more at this part of the trip, and not really caring at all…I love it – it’s vacation!

Up next – Pirate night menu at Parrot Cay!

Okay, I'm sorry, but the first thing that came to my mind as I was reading this part was "OMG - is she pregnant already?!" :lmao: Took me a minute to realize the weight gain & stretchy shorts were the result of all the food! (Which should have been obvious based on the forum this thread was in!).

HAHA - nope, just a food baby!! All in all I gained 9 lbs on the trip...I've taken off 3.5 and started exercising again (for some reason I fell off the exercise wagon when I came back off vacation).

It was worth it though, soooo worth it!

That's about what my kids each weighed at birth! ;) Although I put on about 5 times that amount each time too, so guess you didn't gain quite enough weight for that!

Definitely enjoying the trip report/food report - congrats and thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

mmm..the banana bread was delish on our cruise..I can only imagine how great that dessert was. My ds was 5 at the time and they would bring him a big plate of banana bread each night..so nice!

Other than the bacon wrapped sausage that looks SOOO good. (I'm sensitive to pork- its really tough, because there is nothing better than country ham!)

Good thing you had the wedding when you did! You might have had issues with the dress! ;)

I loved the banana bread - but the dessert just took it to a whole new level!

Great update yet again :goodvibes

Your dessert looks yummy :thumbsup2

Thanks!!

Good thing you had the wedding when you did! You might have had issues with the dress! ;)

It was a tie-up dress, I'm a strategic thinker :) I also went on a 90 day frenzy of exercising and eating right before the wedding, so I was in pretty good shape...I'm torn now between reliving the goodness of the food on the trip and wanting my jeans to be comfortable right now...I find it hard to get back on track after vacation, I'm still eating things that I normally wouldn't...

There are some over in my Planning Journal (linked in signature if you want to see more) but since you asked here are a couple (glad you asked actually - I love to share them!)...these are just from our cameras - the professional pics are not in yet...

WOW, how genius of you guys to have the "Best Man" wear a vest! That's so cute! What a cool concept! Imagine not having to get all dolled up and you get to wear pants instead of worrying about fitting into a dress. That's such a great idea! Just out of curiosity, did she mind not being in a dress?

I gave her the choice actually...we're kind of lucky she wore heels and not sneakers actually...lol

I preferred this look for her over a dress, but also considered the same dress that her sister wore, but in black with a teal sash...it all worked out better in person than it even did in my head :) She looked beautiful!

I’ll likely post both day 3 and 4 of the cruise today, because I’m so excited to get to the last few days (Deluxe Dining) portion of our trip! Plus my wedding trip-report is on hold until after my at-home reception because I don’t want to post my professional pics until after my family and friends have seen them all…so it gives me time to get the dining report finished up!

Day 3 on our Disney Cruise was in Parrot Cay again, with the Pirates night Menu. I loved this menu – it was full of delicious options…so many in fact that I had 2 appetizers instead of one – LOL…

So for my first course I had both the Pirates Golden Potstickers (pork potstickers with a tamarind soy sauce) AND the “Blackbeard’s Jumbo Crab Cake” – served with raisin-carrot coconut slaw and a Calypso Sauce.
DSC03063.JPG

The Potstickers were absolutely amazing….deep fried so they were crispy, with a tender perfectly seasoned pork filling. The sauce was a perfect complement, sort of a sweet and salty sauce, which is my favorite. If I were to choose between the 2 I liked the Potstickers better. Adrian had the Potstickers as well, so I’m not going to review his appy :)
DSC03062.JPG

That being said however, the crab cake was also great; it was just served sort of lukewarm, so it took it down a notch for me. The carrot-raisin salad was awesome – and the crab cake had lots of crab and very little filler, which was nice.
DSC03061.JPG

For the second course, I had the Jerk Chicken Salad, which was essentially a jerk flavored chicken finger on some greens. Not great, but this is coming from the girl who is not a huge fan of salad (except the salads at Yachtsman Steakhouse, which we tried last year…now THOSE were salads!).
DSC03064.JPG

Adrian had Mr. Smee’s Bib Lettuce Salad…again kind of boring, as it was a very basic salad with raspberry vinaigrette. It’s hard to impress me with salad, sorry!
DSC03065.JPG

For our main dishes, I had the “Treasure of the Seas” – Grilled Shrimp and Scallops over a pasta with a tomato cream sauce. This was delicious, but for some reason had a bit of the same taste as Campbell’s Tomato Soup, so it was a bit distracting….my sister and I both agreed that it just had that strangely familiar flavor. The pasta was perfectly done, and the seafood was fresh, so all in all a good dish! I was also slightly distracted by the beauty of what Adrian was eating…..
DSC03067.JPG

He had The Dutchman’s Dijon Crusted Roasted Sirloin of Beef, he asked for Med-rare but it came on the rare side, which I LOVE. I am such a carnivore, his meal just looked absolutely amazing to me (it tasted great too, as I was staring at it drooling he kindly offered me a bite). It was served with roasted sweet potatoes which were also great – although it was hard to notice them on his plate next to the huge piece of roast!
DSC03066.JPG

For dessert, we tried to get them to bring back the Banana Bread French Toast, but they couldn’t as all 3 restaurants were serving the Pirate Menu…so I had the Shiver-me-Timbers White Chocolate Cheesecake, which was really great. One of the best cheesecake’s of the trip – it was very creamy and tasted just slightly of White Chocolate…very yummy!
DSC03068.JPG

Adrian had the “Walk the Triple Layered Chocolate Gangplank Cake” – which was, you guessed it, a triple layered chocolate cake. It was served with a rich chocolate sauce, and was a pretty decent cake, but unmemorable in the grand scheme of all the food we ate on the trip…
DSC03069.JPG

Up next - our last night on the cruise - Triton's!

I love Triton’s – it’s so beautiful in there! The atmosphere is great, and the menu was as well…although my entrée wasn’t my favorite on the trip, it was likely my fault….why a Nova Scotian would ever order Lobster in a restaurant is beyond me – LOL...But alas, I never learn, I do it all the time, and am always disappointed, because I can cook better lobster at home than I can get in a restaurant.

Sigh – sorry I got a bit off topic there, back to Triton’s…it was a great way to finish off our trip, and the food was actually very good (with the exception of the lobster…)

For our appetizers, I convinced my niece that we should all try Escargot since it’s a cruise, the best time to try something you’d never normally order. So we ordered Escargot as a “table appetizer” to share. We actually all really enjoyed them, although I think it mostly was because of the butter and cheese!
DSC03086.JPG

I then had the Applewood Smoked Bacon and Wild Mushroom tart. It was actually quiche, and had very little bacon or mushroom flavor. It was good, but it was more egg than anything else.
DSC03084.JPG

Adrian had the Duck Confit with dried prunes, candied walnuts, and greens. It was amazing, the best appetizer on the table for sure. The blend of flavors was so good, and the texture of the confit was amazing!
DSC03085.JPG

For our next course I had the French Onion Soup and I can’t remember what Adrian had!! No picture, at this point I would never be able to recall…there was to much good food on the last few days, it blocked everything else out!
DSC03087.JPG

The French Onion Soup was pretty awesome, some may consider it too salty, but that’s not even possible with me – I love salty foods. The cheese was delicious and a great complement to the soup…the only bad part was the bread in it….it was just too much – there were basically no onions in the soup, it was just this huge gelatinous mass of bread, kind of like a jellyfish! Don’t get me wrong, it really tasted good, but if the bread had just been a slice instead of a bowlful I might have given it a “best soup in the world” award!
DSC03093.JPG

Adrian had Triton’s Seared Sea Bass with mushroom herb Risotto, and sweet onion marmalade, I’m pretty sure this was his favorite entrée on the cruise – it was an amazing piece of fish! Perfectly cooked and the sides complimented it well. The fish was not dry at all, which is sometimes a problem with a big portion of whitefish but this was great!
DSC031041.JPG

I, of course, picked the Three Cheese Lobster Macaroni (looking back I’m pretty certain I made this mistake on the original cruise too). While the pasta had good flavor, and the sauce was average to good, the lobster was so, so over cooked it was almost comical. It was dry and spongy, and had kind of a weird taste too….I kind of think they may have cooked the lobsters with the elastic on the claws, which leaves a bitter rubbery taste in the meat. I mean it was certainly edible…I ate it all, but it wasn’t great, and like I said, being a Nova Scotian we really can get great quality lobster and cook it at home, so I should likely have just gotten something else.
DSC031051.JPG

For dessert I had an amazing concoction - Brioche Bread pudding with toffee sauce – it was so amazing! In particular the sauce was so darn tasty…I could have just eaten a bowl of that…it tasted a lot like my mom’s homemade toffee sauce that we used to eat over crepes!
DSC031091.JPG

Adrian had crème brulee “with seasonal berries” – it was hilarious, the “seasonal berries” was one strawberry quarter! He did say it was a delicious crème brulee though, he wasn’t complaining…

Up next, back on land with the start of our Deluxe Dining Adventure!

Well, I know how I'm gonna convince my husband to go on a cruise with me... show him that slab of meat and he will be like putty in my hand!! :rotfl:

yum! too bad about the lobster tho, adrian's steak looks super delicious :hyper: i too am a carnivore and love it more on the rare side :rotfl:

I'm only on page one but after seeing pics of your first dinner I was hooked!! I'm subbing fo shizzle!! You seem like a total foodie like myself.
