According to http://www.dizpins.com as of August 2006 WDW will no longer host regularly scheduled Pin Trading Nights.

Here are the final scheduled Pin Trading Nights:
Thursday 7/27/06 All Star Sports 7pm-10pm
Friday 7/28/06 Contemporary Resort 7pm-10pm
Saturday August 5 Pop Century Resort 4pm-7pm

So now what???

Disney says this:

They thank us for attending and trading at these activities and to continue trading with cast members throughout WDW. Also just to whet our whistles the new celebration the year of a million dreams hints of new pin trading opportunities at Disney parks and resorts.

So now it's back to the to the trading tables at Disney Pin Traders at the Marketplace and maybe just maybe actual trading with each other in the pin trading areas of the parks just like the old days.

I must say that I am not to surprised. I was finding it hard to deal with the MEGA Traders there. The ones who took all the tables and never got up to look around... I have found trading in the parks the last few trips to be much more fun... I do still enjoy DTD for while at night.... But I still like the trading in the parks best. I don't think I will miss the Official Nights... I can still see a lot of people during events getting together though....

I am not surprised either. Especially with the Contemporary. I did not even go over there the last trip. And All Stars did not have very many people there either.

Maybe something new and fresh will come about from this!

I rarely attended, and when I did it was just to meet others. I just never was impressed with any PTN from day one years ago. :confused3 I am an introvert, so that makes a difference.
No WDW PT place has given me a welcoming feeling.
Contemp had few seating areas and tables, in too dim lighting.
The food courts were not set up very well for mingling either, and too noisy.
IF there was anything special it was geared towards kids, and I think that was a great idea, had it worked. I will need my flame suit on, but it was more like kid's doing the trading for the parents. I hardly ever attended PTN, but when I did I would hear parents say how their kids were not treated the same as the other kids, and who got what, etc. :confused3 I even saw times where CMs tried their best to hide the PT board from adult eyes.
There just needed to be more Disney emphasis and involvement, rather than here's some tables and chairs; trade yourself silly for all we care. Although the CMs always had smiles on their faces.
Of course even the trading at pin events isn't so hot, and that is a hard ticket. So what do we expect for free? :rotfl2:

I think PTN was much better when Kathryn was running it with a small volunteer core. It tended to be people visiting from out of town and very low key.

A couple of the important things were basically it was "no sharks". Most people did circulate, and if anyone was found to be trying to take advantage of newbies they were politely asked to leave. If they did not leave, or persisted in remaining, I would see someone hanging out and mentioning to people that "this person has been known to attempt to take advantage of people with little knowledge about pins" or words to that effect.

But then Disney took it over. I remember one time using the word "sharks" to a Disney manager who said something to the effect of: "we don't use that term, we treat all guests equally." That's the same as having a few pro golfers in an otherwise amateur tornament with no handicaps or differences in scoring.

I could never understand the pin trading sessions at the Contemporary. No one seemed to be trading, they just all had out their books for you to look at and I never have anything to trade that they didn't already have. Dh made some attempts but I mainly hung out in the shops.

My son collects cast member lanyard pins. He always found some good ones at the PTN's. I enjoyed meeting new people, and seeing old friends at them.
