Yes its true BeetleJuice's Great Fright Way is closing. The last day is Feb 19
Well another show is bye,bye. Ghostbusters you will be missed.

Popeye - are you saying that both the Beetlejuice and Ghostbuster shows are closing?? Thanks for the heads up - I'll have to get a video of both this trip to document another by-gone era - is there another show scheduled to replace whichever is being closed?

Only the Extreme Ghostbusters Show will be closing, but still it's rather unfortunate. Some fun times...Anyone who will be at Universal on Feb. 19...join some of the GB fans for a fun supportive rally...some of us may have some signs and such...not to change the outcome, but to bring some light to the situation.

To all those I hyped up for the show, who will also JUST miss them...PM me, and I'll at least send you a video, so you can see what the hype was about. What a bummer...I almost feel bad for convincing people to see the show that had a long wait...and may not get to see it at all. ( ie - Selina )

My condolences to you. Everyone in our family enjoyed the show when we saw it with you last May.
I think these cuts in the live shows at UO probably have something to do with the GE/NBC buyout. They seem to be keying their promotion efforts only on those things that are non-labor intensive, which, since I live in the manufacturing world, I know this is the latest fad. They call it "Lean Manufacturing" in the business world. GE is also the granddaddy of "Six Sigma", another manufacturing program that eliminates all waste by eliminating errors down to only those defects that people cannot control.
I hate to see these methods applied whole hog to the world of themeparks, as I think they are void of the "emotional" aspects of life, which is really what themeparks try to bring out in their guests. I hope they don't try to mirror the parks after their manufacturing world. It would be like taking a vacation from work, only to find the themepark to be just like my work world .

Based on your insightful post ksdave I will make sure to see the show before it closes! I agree it's not a good idea for an entertainment organization to try and save money by offering less "human" experiences. The labor costs can't be *that* much!

(DH is a part time musician and I know how hard it can be for him just to get paid to play. Entertainers are by-and-large paid low wages.)

I am so upset! This is one of my favorite shows! Everything we used to love about Disney/Universal (Hunchback show, ghostbusters show, wild west show, etc) have all been slowly taken away with no replacements. Seriously considering not renewing next years anual passes as magic is just not there for us anymore.

It is because of a one year legal negotiation/battle with Sony who owns the Ghostbuster name. After Feb 19, Universal can't use the name nor the logo anymore.

Well, now I am just ticked! After all the hype and the "hot" pics I have seen, I was SOOOOOO looking forward to this one. I am going to miss them by days. We leave for Florida on the 19, but won't be at RPR until the 21st! Poop! Poop! Poop!

I am sooooo disappointed! Flyfly - due to your recommendations, we caught them last fall. I planned on watching the show once.........but ended up watching them 3 times!! I couldn't believe how fun the show was! I became a full-fledged fan! We still have one day left on our passes and were looking forward to seeing them again this summer. I wish I could be there on Feb. 19th!! Please, please give us a full report on the last day of performances. We'll miss you guys!!

Will do, CJK! I'm glad you had the chance to see them, though! I'm working on some projects relating to the show...including a video of various clips (much longer, and better prepared than the ones ever posted here by me). I'll be videotaping on the last day, as we say the final goodbyes.

Believe me, if I could leave earlier, I would. The price of being a teacher...you vacation when the school vacations. And they frown upon extending the breaks, in the big way. It's just my luck. Enjoy that last performance, extra, for me. Ogle a little more than usual at the "orange GB." Double dang....

My friend and I saw it the first of December. I had read flyfly's comments and was intrigued, but didn't tell my friend about the sexy guys or the storyline. When we first saw them, I thought "Their allright, not that hot." BUT, after the show, wow, they all were much HOTTER to me. That show was a hoot and, I must admit, a turn-on. For goodness sake, I'm a married 40 year old woman with a 5 year old son and I swear I was lusting. Of course, didn't mention this show to my husband. My friend and I work together and when we talk about the Ghostbuster show, I always say, "You know, the 3-D show!!!"
