The End of an Era - Where Dreams Come True at Pop & Kidani **NEW 5/28 FINALE

I wouldn't call my dislike of ToT "hating" it... just a bit scared of it! Glad to see I'm not the only one to have heard mixed reviews about Tony's. You're right, there are much better places to eat at!

Hmmm....maybe someday you'll end up on ToT........

Nah, I never get offended by people making fun of my Canadian accent. My sister married a gent from Idaho and we teased him mercilessly for the first 18 months calling him "yank" and telling him that their money looks like play money. It took him FOREVER to realize we were kidding around, he was so defensive...it was great. So, I can take it but it was funny that my kids were so annoyed being that they are still fairly little.

Definitely PM me about what servers to request when at Le Cellier...we are SO excited about this particular dining experience. We are also going to be hitting Teppan Edo, Coral Reef and Chefs des France on this trip so we'll be getting a nice taste of Epcot's dining experiences. I was on the phone at the 180 day window also around 7:30 am to get dinner ressies for the 24th and we were thrilled to get the time we wanted.

I hope you have a great time at the Poly...I'm jealous again about that...it's my dream resort, but then we are staying at SSR for two nights and AKL for six so I can't really complain.

My favourite princess is Aurora...Sleeping Beauty has always been a fav of mine and we have a CRT ADR. If we meet her there, I'll be excited but I don't think I'd seek her out if we didn't happen to come across her there. You never know though...I might develop some kind of crush this year...there'll be a lot more character interaction, so who knows??

Eagerly anticipating the next installment...

The destination of the day was....

rwt4kn.jpg

Hollywood Studios! :cool2: Time to get my groove on.

I don't know how but we got here really early, like REALLY early.

2yunbqo.jpg

We ended up skipping breakfast to be at the front of the line for, you guessed it, TOY STORY MANIA!!! They opened the turnstiles at around 8:30am and let us walk up the boulevard until we ran into this

3wvba.jpg

This was the blockade keeping us excited Disney World goers from the coveted TSM. I could feel the excitement surge in my veins; the competitiveness being pumped from my adrenaline. I was ready. I was going to beat Glen's score (I believe the score to beat is 167,500). Bubba was completely oblivious to my state of mind, but I was focused. That is, until this guy from American Idol came out to "entertain" the crowd. What was up with this guy? It was early. I was tired. Along with many other people. But he had to pick on them. He made one guy sing a song from Little Mermaid. He was terrible because he didn't even know the words! What the heck are you doing in Disney World guy? Then, oh yes ladies and gentleman, he focused his sore excuse for a hip and cool guy mojo on us. I tried to advert his gaze by looking at our feet.

xmitti.jpg

It was no good. He wanted me to sing. Ha! That wasn't gonna happen. No way! I was hoping this would make him go away. It didn't. Sigh. Instead, he pulled a fast one on Bubba and I and made us answer knock-knock jokes. It was lame....very lame. I just wanted him to go away so I could get me some TSM. Eventually he did move on but we had to wait a bit longer. Bubba and I cheered as it was almost time for the rope to be dropped:

nz0wi0.jpg

And the crowd behind us was beginning to grow restless

72yst5.jpg

What a bunch of happy faces in the morning, wouldn't you say?

Then, the guards took their posts.

2uruuch.jpg

It was time. The rope was down and we began to march forward. Bubba was dumbfounded by the way they corralled us towards TSM. If I remember correctly, only earlier that year did they just let the rope drop and everyone sprinted to TSM. I guess someone got hurt during one such rope drop, hence the tight control now.

We were at the front of the line, rounding the corner

2iuautx.jpg

Getting closer... we could see the army soldiers

mn0qp3.jpg

Then, it happened. Once the guards let everyone free, it was pandemonium. The guards told people where to go but still, there were people everywhere! Bubba was scared. I told her it was going to be okay. We got into the Fastpass line first to secure a ticket for another ride.

zyd9v9.jpg

Once that was acquired, we jumped into standby.

ay0rqv.jpg

It was crazy. There were CMs acting as human poles, making everyone walk around them. People go nuts for this ride! At this point, Bubba was petrified

2s5yuyc.jpg

But, once she realized we were getting on the ride, it was smooth sailing from there.

xqjlu0.jpg

We got on the ride in about 10 minutes. Once I was in that hot seat with the gun in front of me, I was ready. I was in the zone. I aimed at every target with all my accuracy. I fired at the targets with as much speed as I could muster until my arm felt like jello. And what score did all this effort result in?

2816c0p.jpg

Bubba on left, me on right

:headache: NO! I had failed. This would not do. I had to improve. I kept telling myself that this was only a warm up round. Yes, that's it. The next ride would be much better....

We left the mania that was Toy Story, and decided to put some food in our bellies over at Starring Rolls Cafe.

I got myself a bagel with cream cheese, mixed berry yogurt, orange juice and a big cup of peppermint tea

351ivye.jpg

Bubba also got a bagel with cream cheese, mixed berry yogurt, Nestea, and apple juice

14b2g78.jpg

Total: 2 CS credits

While we were eating, this little bird came hopping around our table looking for scraps.

x3g1zs.jpg

It took that piece of bread and then flew up above us. A couple minutes later, something fell on Bubba's head. At first I thought it pooped on her, but instead it had dropped some of the bread! :lmao: It seemed like the bird wanted to share its breakfast. Too funny!

Our Fastpass time was due as soon as we finished our meal so we headed back over to TSM. I still had a whole cup of tea to drink. The wait time had skyrocketed since our last ride

3500v2w.jpg

We grabbed another fastpass before we rode again

160bq4j.jpg

We approached the Fastpass CM to give him our fastpasses but he told me I couldn't enter the line until I finished my tea. It was still boiling hot as I just got it! Oh boy. So here was Bubba and I, trying to guzzle this hot tea so we could get on the ride. A trip to the bathroom would be in order after all the liquids we'd been drinking! Meanwhile, Luxor Jr decided to make an appearance.

b7ewrb.jpg

This was the first time I had ever seen him! Boy, I was excited :hyper: I watched him dance and shake what his mama gave him, while Bubba tried to finish the rest of my tea. Finally, we finished it and entered the line. I got in my zone again. We came to the practice round and I fired upon the targets with brute force. I realized at that moment that my gun was not responding. I'd pull the string but only occasionally something popped out. This was not looking good. And it didn't end well. Our final scores came to this

2drt8v5.jpg

Me on left, Bubba on right.

It just wasn't my day. Was I ever to beat Glen's score?

The infamous Toy Story Mania stampede. Does that make 3 times on TSM in a day? Did you do anything else?

AHA! So my answer to DHS was right on the picture clue. I knew it had to be one of them (since you told me so). :lmao: It took a while to follow the links and clues from allears.

Anyway.... TSM. I have a bad feeling I won't even come close to yours OR Glennbo's scores. I will try though. I will try. 167,000- Number commited to long-term memory.

The scene sounds absolutely frightening! But I think it IS possible to ride it 3 times. So we'll follow your strategy and do it this way. FiP, ride, FiP.

Streetmosphere is fun and funny, but NOT in the AM when one is trying to focus!

Oh my gosh. I agree that was complete and utter pandemonium. Congrats on getting there so early. If they open the turnstiles at 8:30 and I plan to be at the AKV bus stop by 7:45, we should be there in time, correct? I actually cringed at the photo of the crowd behind you. RideMax has several long paragraphs about how important it is to be at the rope, and if you can't be to make your way up to KeyStone clothiers. Then they explain how important it is to be in the first wave of people. It has us getting a FP, then riding, just like you did. About how long was your standby wait?

The destination of the day was....

rwt4kn.jpg

As soon as I saw this I had to page down to see the result! :lmao:

I don't know how but we got here really early, like REALLY early.

2yunbqo.jpg

Dang, that IS early. You probably couldn't sleep, in anticipation of the competition looming before you.

We ended up skipping breakfast to be at the front of the line for, you guessed it, TOY STORY MANIA!!! They opened the turnstiles at around 8:30am and let us walk up the boulevard until we ran into this

I can't believe you took a picture of the rope. :rotfl2: See what writing a trip report does to you?

I was going to beat Glen's score (I believe the score to beat is 167,500). Bubba was completely oblivious to my state of mind, but I was focused.

I'm glad you included the score here -- I couldn't remember it and was afraid I was going to have to comb through my TR again. You didn't tell Bubba what your mission was?

That is, until this guy from American Idol came out to "entertain" the crowd. What was up with this guy? It was early. I was tired. Along with many other people. But he had to pick on them. Aw c'mon, he's got a job to do. I wouldn't know the words either. :guilty:

Nice try. I bet you stared at the desk a lot in school too.

Sounds like he was a little slow on the uptake that you weren't going to play along.

And the crowd behind us was beginning to grow restless

72yst5.jpg

That is a restless looking crowd, no doubt.

At this point, Bubba was petrified

2s5yuyc.jpg

Great picture of a petrified Bubba! :rotfl2:

And what score did all this effort result in?

:headache: NO! I had failed. This would not do. I had to improve. I kept telling myself that this was only a warm up round. Yes, that's it. The next ride would be much better....

Oh nice try....thanks for playing! Hee hee hee.

I realized at that moment that my gun was not responding. I'd pull the string but only occasionally something popped out. This was not looking good. And it didn't end well.

They have a pill you can take for that now. :lmao:

It just wasn't my day. Was I ever to beat Glen's score?

It's not looking good, but I say yes, you will eventually beat my score....or lose use of your arm trying.

167,000- Number commited to long-term memory.

167,500! I think she scored 167,000 on her last trip. So close, but yet so far.

The scene sounds absolutely frightening! But I think it IS possible to ride it 3 times. So we'll follow your strategy and do it this way. FiP, ride, FiP.

Don't forget to be cognizant of when you can get another fastpass. Get it before you use the first one.

Alright, alright.... you can have your extra stinkin 500 points! :lmao: I'm still kicking your butt! (gosh, now that I've opened my big trap, I hope I really can- says to self.....)

Yes, I only forgot to do that once last trip. It's an art- FiP use.

Alright, alright.... you can have your extra stinkin 500 points!

Yeah, I want my 500 points! It's what's keeping me in front of Jenbear.

:lmao: I'm still kicking your butt! (gosh, now that I've opened my big trap, I hope I really can- says to self.....)

Careful....that kinda talk is what got Jenbear on a mission, up early to be at the front of the line for rope drop, enduring the restless crowds, and the TSM pandemonium, only to have a pop-gun that was too pooped to pop.

Yes, I only forgot to do that once last trip. It's an art- FiP use.

I was kicking myself a couple of times for inefficient fastpass collecting.

Holy crap on a cracker!! That pic of the restless crowd was hilarious. I laughed until I cried and was on the very of hysteria while my husband stared at me as though I had lost my marbles!!:lmao::rotfl2:

I'm sorry about the lame knock knock jokes. Last year we didn't make rope drop for anything but Animal Kingdom so we missed a lot of this kind of stuff.

****I suddenly just remembered something from Epcot that happened to us last time...a really weird CM came over (I THINK to do a survey) but he was being all spooky and freaky and after my husband and I exchanged glances of "has this guy been sniffing glue on his breaks?" I just walked away with one stroller (and a kid in it) and my husband quickly followed with the other (kid and stroller). He shouted something out after us too...I remember it being quite rude. (In his defense we were quite rude to walk away from him mid-sentence like we did, but there was no way I was going to stay when he was creeping me out like that.) Funny how I just thought of that...I guess I must have been repressing the memory all this time.****

Okay sorry, digression over. We also LOVED TSM and thankfully missed all the park opening hysteria. Bubba's face was awesome!!! It sure paints the picture and I'm surprised that she hadn't experienced it before like you.

Does Luxor Jr. still make appearances? Sometimes I think the DIS is as much a curse as a blessing cause when you hear about something great but won't get there in time to check it out...the whole time you know what you are missing and ignorance is bliss...right??

Keep up the good work!! :yay:

So now I know what it looks like to be at the very front of the TSM line.....a spot I assure you that I will never see with my own eyes. Although I am somewhat intriqued because that's the way to do it! If its any consolation, your score is much better than mine. OK - so that's not much of a consolation, but I really enjoyed this update! :thumbsup2

The infamous Toy Story Mania stampede. Does that make 3 times on TSM in a day? Did you do anything else?

Surprisingly, yes we did do other stuff. All that and more to come in my next update.

AHA! So my answer to DHS was right on the picture clue. I knew it had to be one of them (since you told me so). :lmao: It took a while to follow the links and clues from allears.

This should be an indicator not to give up hope of guessing!

Anyway.... TSM. I have a bad feeling I won't even come close to yours OR Glennbo's scores. I will try though. I will try. 167,000- Number commited to long-term memory.

May the force be with you, young Skywalker

Good plan. It worked for us!

Streetmosphere is fun and funny, but NOT in the AM when one is trying to focus!

Seriously! Some people just ruin one's train of thought.

Oh my gosh. I agree that was complete and utter pandemonium. Congrats on getting there so early. If they open the turnstiles at 8:30 and I plan to be at the AKV bus stop by 7:45, we should be there in time, correct? About how long was your standby wait?

If a bus comes within 5 minutes of you getting to the bus stop, you should be fine. The key is to be there by 8:10am at the latest. You're right at the front of the turnstiles and guaranteed to be right at the front where the rope is. Our standby wait was about 7-10 minutes at the most.

That happened to me on the last time, stupid gun didn't work!

Gosh darn it! They need to fix these things! It ruins my TSM karma!!!

As soon as I saw this I had to page down to see the result! :lmao:

:rotfl2:

Dang, that IS early. You probably couldn't sleep, in anticipation of the competition looming before you.

No way, Jose! (hey that's the name of a sundae that I should've ordered, sigh) I was shaking with anticipation!

I can't believe you took a picture of the rope. :rotfl2: See what writing a trip report does to you?

Terrible, terrible things. But look at the memories it provides!

I'm glad you included the score here -- I couldn't remember it and was afraid I was going to have to comb through my TR again. You didn't tell Bubba what your mission was?

I remember quite distinctly looking up your score before I left. I had to be sure I knew what was the score to beat

Aw c'mon, he's got a job to do. I wouldn't know the words either. :guilty:

He was still annoying.

Nice try. I bet you stared at the desk a lot in school too.

And the ceiling....

Oh nice try....thanks for playing! Hee hee hee.

ARGH!

They have a pill you can take for that now. :lmao:

:rotfl2::lmao: Only you (or Jordan) would think that :p

It's not looking good, but I say yes, you will eventually beat my score....or lose use of your arm trying.

Ohhhhh, just you wait....

167,500! I think she scored 167,000 on her last trip. So close, but yet so far.

Them's fightin' words.

Alright, alright.... you can have your extra stinkin 500 points! :lmao: I'm still kicking your butt! (gosh, now that I've opened my big trap, I hope I really can- says to self.....)

Every little bit counts! A mere 100 points can mean the difference between a win or a loss! And yes, be careful. Glen is quite competitive

Yeah, I want my 500 points! It's what's keeping me in front of Jenbear.

:p

Careful....that kinda talk is what got Jenbear on a mission, up early to be at the front of the line for rope drop, enduring the restless crowds, and the TSM pandemonium, only to have a pop-gun that was too pooped to pop.

:rotfl2::lmao::lmao::rotfl2: I nearly died of laughter when I read that! My poor pooped pop-gun.

I'm sorry about the lame knock knock jokes. Last year we didn't make rope drop for anything but Animal Kingdom so we missed a lot of this kind of stuff.

Perhaps it was for the better...

****I suddenly just remembered something from Epcot that happened to us last time...a really weird CM came over (I THINK to do a survey) but he was being all spooky and freaky and after my husband and I exchanged glances of "has this guy been sniffing glue on his breaks?" I hate those survey people. When they pick me from the crowd, I try to answer their questions so it'll skew their results

Okay sorry, digression over. We also LOVED TSM and thankfully missed all the park opening hysteria. Bubba's face was awesome!!! It sure paints the picture and I'm surprised that she hadn't experienced it before like you.

You'd think living in Disney for a year, she'd experience the TSM pandemonium. But nope! It was her first time.

Does Luxor Jr. still make appearances? Sometimes I think the DIS is as much a curse as a blessing cause when you hear about something great but won't get there in time to check it out...the whole time you know what you are missing and ignorance is bliss...right??

Yes, as far as I know he's still there. That's the first time I had seen him though, out of the 5 times I've been there the last year. I count my lucky stars I saw him when I did.

:thumbsup2

I'm glad I could give you that experience without you even leaving the comfort of your own home. Glad you enjoyed the update :goodvibes

I just checked my facts and Glen, your score to beat is 167,600

This needed complete clarification. You'll see why in my next installment....

OK, now I KNOW you beat his score. ;)

I won't give up on guessing; they may all be wrong, but I"ll keep guessing. :lmao:

I want a gun that doesn't poop out!!! So it can out- poop Glenn's AND your score! I mean out-pop! I'm not even sure what I mean now...

Bek wants to know if Luxor lights up at night? Anyone know?? And where is he exactly?? This reminds me of a word I learned when reading a James Herriot book: Did you know when an eyeball pops out of the socket, it is called "luxated"?? Just thought you'd want to know that.

Luxor Jr is right by the entrance to TSM, to the right of the exit where you meet Woody and Buzz. I'm not sure if he lights up at night. The sightings of him are so few and far between that I don't know much about him :confused3

Funny I should see yours and ask about him. I just ran into another TR where he made an appearance, and it was at night. So... ?? is answered. SOMETIMES he comes out at night...

Thanks for the idea!! My strategy this time should we be stopped to answer a survey will be to mimic you and skew their results!! Laughed out loud again when I read that one!!

I LOVE your PTR's and TR's...hilarious...always good value.

Thanks...keep it up!
