The End of an Era - Where Dreams Come True at Pop & Kidani **NEW 5/28 FINALE

A) Froot Loops are very African. I don't know what you're talking about.

B) I'm disappointed they didn't have a horse named Bullseye

The Zebra Domes look delicious. Actually, that whole breakfast is yummy!

It was really yummy. I have to say that I'm never disappointed with breakfasts at Disney. Then again, it IS my favourite meal of the day.

That's so sweet. Have you seen 28 Days with Sandra Bullock, the movie about her character going into rehab. When the patients leave, they did a sing-out. That's what your post reminded me of.

As soon as I read that, I searched for the movie on YouTube and now must watch it. But yes, I do remember that!

A) Froot Loops are very African. I don't know what you're talking about.

:rotfl2: Of cooooouuurrrrsseee they are! :rolleyes1

B) I'm disappointed they didn't have a horse named Bullseye

I know! Well they might have and I just didn't know it. But it would be much more fun if they named them after Disney characters.

I have always been disappointed with trail rides. You really have absolutely zero control of where you get to go, and the horses are always so "mechanical". Like you, I'm used to blazing my own trail and actually telling the horses where to go. Frankly, they are boring. But, then again, if it's a first time for someone, this may be just the right level of horsey fun. :confused3

Boma is so pretty; I absolutely just cannot WAIT to eat there. But after seeing your breakfast pix, I'm glad we chose dinner. Mmm... zebra domes. THose look so tasty good! Bummer they melted!

Mmm, zebra domes! So yummy. But you are right, they are really rich.

Aww, the sing out sounds so sad! :guilty: I would probably be sobbing if that was me.

Sad it's almost over.:sad2:

Ahhh....last days are so sad. I agree that Boma dinner would be better than breakfast, but the juice looks yummy.

I know from my zebra dome experience last summer that ZD's do not last long in the heat!

Glad you were able to snag a late afternoon ADR at LeCellier so you could say your good byes.

You sound like someone I'd get along great with! Not like we don't already :rotfl: Have you gone horseback riding many times before?

I'm so excited for you! Boma serves the Zebra Domes at dinner so you can eat as many to your hearts content.

Mmm, zebra domes! So yummy. But you are right, they are really rich.

It's too bad really. They're so yummy that I want to eat more than one all the time.

Aww, the sing out sounds so sad! :guilty: I would probably be sobbing if that was me.

Sad it's almost over.:sad2:

Sing outs always bring lots of tears.... I'm sad it's almost over too. But then I can start my April TR!

Our last day began with breakfast at Boma.

dgmakx.jpg

I've eaten at Boma several times, but never for breakfast. I think we're usually in too much of a hurry to get to a park.

I had purposely made our ADR for later in the morning, around 9:30am, so we would be able to get our lazy butts out of bed. In November, we ended up sleeping through it! Not this time! In hindsight, we should've had dinner here because for breakfast, they just had typical breakfast food that can be found at ALL the buffet breakfasts. They had a little bit of authentic African food but I was a little disappointed.

I found it interesting that you used the words "butts" and "hindsight" in the same paragraph. Not sure why I noticed that...maybe just looking for something to comment on.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed at the limited African food at breakfast.

We also had a spread of waffles and fresh fruit but there's not much I can really say was outstanding in this meal except...........

THIS JUICE!!!!

2lw6r1g.jpg

This juice was super yummy. I wish they could bottle it up and sell it. I'm sure they do... I just haven't found it yet.

I've read that this juice is really something. I wonder what all's in it? :confused3

At one point, I went to seek out the zebra domes. Little did I know that they do not serve them at breakfast :headache: I was so distraught that I had missed out on the chance of zebra domes! So right after we finished breakfast, we headed straight to Mara and bought ourselves a package of super rich Zebra Domes.

21lihk5.jpg

I wasn't expecting them to be so rich but as soon as I bit into one, I was a bit taken back. Both Bubba and I could only eat one dome in one sitting.

Oh yeah!

Funny...after dinner they taste rich, but not so rich that I can only eat one! (I've been able to down a couple, and try a few other desserts as well.)

The horses are gentle, if not half asleep, and the people are very friendly. When we got back in the car, we found our Zebra domes to be completely melted! Bummer.

I imagine that when the horses go on the same trail rides all the time, they can get like that. And I suppose with the younger clientele they usually get, Disney wants the more sedate horses.

Oh no! Not the zebra domes!

What's a "sing-out", you ask?

Did I leave my computer microphone on?

It's something the CMs do for whomever is on their last day of work. I'm not sure if they do it the same way at all the locations but at Le Cellier, they sing O Canada while you stand up where the fireplace is in the dining room.

I'm sure they do it the same at all of the Epcot countries, singing "O Canada" I mean. ;) It's probably because "O Canada" is hands-down the best national anthem out there.

So off we went back to Test Track (yes, we did lots of walking!) to get bumped and jostled around. Here's what a Mack truck looks like in super high speed!

2cosoxt.jpg

Shocking. I know.

Oh geez, warn me when you're going to do that.

I've eaten at Boma several times, but never for breakfast. I think we're usually in too much of a hurry to get to a park.

First off, can I just say how much I enjoy reading your comments? They always make me laugh :rotfl: Love it! We're normally in a hurry too. It was hard enough making this ADR for after 9am...

I found it interesting that you used the words "butts" and "hindsight" in the same paragraph. Not sure why I noticed that...maybe just looking for something to comment on.

Good call. I never would've noticed. Perhaps I was having a Pumbaa moment.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed at the limited African food at breakfast.

At least now I know that I should eat dinner at Boma if I want more African flavours.

I've read that this juice is really something. I wonder what all's in it? :confused3

The server tells you when they give it to you. I think there's a mixture of papaya, mango, orange, and some other juices in there. It all tastes really good whatever it is!

Oh yeah!

Funny...after dinner they taste rich, but not so rich that I can only eat one! (I've been able to down a couple, and try a few other desserts as well.)

Sounds like somebody has got a sweet tooth ;)

I never even considered that. I suppose they wouldn't want a bunch of high strung horses. That would just be too many lawsuits. Although, I think they make you sign a waiver. I love how they always stipulate that if you die, they aren't responsible

Oh no! Not the zebra domes!

It was a sad day. Especially because I would've liked to eat more than one!

:thumbsup2 I like your thinkin'. But it's hard to tell if you're being sarcastic... I think it's a mediocre anthem at best :confused3

Oh geez, warn me when you're going to do that.

:rotfl2: Oh, Glen. I hope you're this funny in person!

Glenn's one witty dude! I wish I was half as funny online.

I thought to copy and paste your text in here before I hit "quote" so that I can comment on your comments.

First off, can I just say how much I enjoy reading your comments? They always make me laugh Love it!

Um, okay. ;)

I do try to put forth a little more effort on your thread, knowing how you appreciate it. :)

Good call. I never would've noticed. Perhaps I was having a Pumbaa moment.

How many years has it been since Lion King came out? I still do a Pumbaa imitation, saying "Sorrry", whenever there's a loud noise that sounds anything like gas being passed (like if a chair is being pushed across a floor, or a semi truck is slowing down, whatever). My kids just roll their eyes. :sad2:

Sounds like somebody has got a sweet tooth

Moi?

I like your thinkin'. But it's hard to tell if you're being sarcastic... I think it's a mediocre anthem at best

I was joking that they would sing O Canada at the other countries, because I know that's not what you meant. You meant a sing-out, but not necessarily O Canada.

But, on the subject of anthems, O Canada is a great one. Don't get me wrong, I'm red white and blue and I wouldn't trade ours, but if you talk to anyone who sings anthems at sports events, they love O Canada.

:rotfl2: Oh, Glen. I hope you're this funny in person!

Not really. I've got that Pumbaa joke and that's about it.

Glenn's one witty dude! I wish I was half as funny online.

Oh the pressure!

Aww, thanks Glen

The Lion King came out in 1994, so it's been about 16 years (that makes me feel old). I'm all about the fart jokes! Speaking of the semi truck slowing down, last March when Bubba, my dad and I were in Disney, we were walking back from Downtown Disney to our offsite hotel, Regal Sun. My dad was SO tired from being out at the parks all day. Bubba and I do a good job at wearing out our parents  Anyways, we were already in a giggly mood and suddenly we heard the sound of a semi truck slowing down. Bubba and I both looked at each other, knowing that we were both thinking the same thing. Then, before we could even say anything, my dad said "That wasn't me! It's a truck slowing down." :rotfl2: We couldn't stop laughing for, I swear, 15 minutes. It was the funniest thing of life.

Oui, oui!

That's good to know. I like some of the other countries anthems but the sad thing is that I don't understand what they're saying since it's in a different language. When I watched the Olympics, I think they sang the German anthem at one point. I swear it felt like it lasted for 10 minutes straight! It was a long one.

Not really. I've got that Pumbaa joke and that's about it.

Oh, don't be so modest. I'm sure you've got some more jokes hidden up your sleeves.

Oh the pressure!

That's right! You better have some good material come Aug/Sep :goodvibes

The only time I've ever been on a horse, the handler put me on the wrong way, with me facing the rear of the horse.....there are pictures to prove it >_>...

Wow, I can't wait to try those zebra domes. You're making me look forward to my Boma ADR even more! I can already smell the spices!

Ok, not really cause I've never been there....but I can imagine?

Oooh, a sing out sounds like fun! I still remember how to sing it en Francais from way back in elementary school when we still had to take French classes. Nobody sang the anthem in high school....poo

I hope the handler did that as a joke?? It would be odd if they didn't know how to help someone mount a horse properly :confused3

I'm excited for you!

poo! :rotfl2: Love it! I thought I was the only one that said that. I, too, remember the day when we had to sing the anthem in French. In high school, they'd do it half English, half French. Twas oh so fun.

Last day? so sad..but you just got back from WDW again?

:rolleyes1 No.... I have no idea what you're talking about.... :rolleyes1

Really? You could only eat one Zebra Dome at a time? Gosh, I think I ate at least 4 the last time we were there. Rich, smich. They're so little!

I love the way they 'sing out' the servers on their last day at Le Cellier! That is so touching. I'm sure I'd be bawling!

I'm sure if I was starving, I'd be able to eat the whole package in one sitting!

It is a very emotional time. Even more so if you're the one leaving!!!

Gawrsh!

I say poo all the time too!! Maybe it's a Canadian thing...or an Ontarian (Ontarionian??) thing.

I can't remember how to sing the anthem in french but I remember hating to sing it in english. I looked forward to high school where no one sang it. 'Course then we just stood there looking like gumby heads, but....:rotfl2:

Now I can't sing the anthem without crying, so....:confused3

I can't wait to hear about April's trip!!

In my last segment, we left off at Bubba and I just about to check in for lunch.

2z7r1oi.jpg

Since this meal was completely unexpected, we decided to go all out. Plus, we had Tink as our server so we had to make sure she'd get herself a nice tip ;)

I started off with the Crab cakes. Oh, and a glass of white wine of course.

b54k5s.jpg

These are so very very good. Bubba had a few bites while she also chowed down on her fresh mussels

20zoec7.jpg

They've really cut down on the portion size of this dish from last year. It used to be big enough for two people to share. I'm not the biggest fan of mussels (or anything in a clam shell for that matter). Back in high school in my Food & Nutrition course, our teacher made us watch a video about Food Safety and Food Poisoning. There was a segment with mussels and oysters and how this boy got very ill from eating them. Obviously it was due to the fact that they were canned and/or not cooked properly. It was a scarring experince none the less.

For my main dish, I decided to try something different since I'd already indulged myself on the Mushroom Filet the other day. So I ordered the Gnocchi.

qn04up.jpg

This was just okay. It was a large portion and very filling. I was only able to eat about half of it before calling it quits. This would not be something I'd order again. There just wasn't a WOW factor to it.

Speaking of Mushroom Filet, here's what Bubba ordered

j5azaf.jpg

I stole a couple bites of the delicious risotto and a small bite of the filet. I couldn't resist! This steak made up entirely for what she ordered the last time.

There was still a little (emphasis on LITTLE) room left for dessert.... and dessert wine.

e12plg.jpg

To lighten my load, I opted for the sorbet

2dj8hnc.jpg

Three scoops of sorbet. I left most of it. I just couldn't squeeze in anymore after all that gnocchi.

Bubba ordered the delicious signature Maple Creme Brulee.

34i5izm.jpg

I also ordered a Peppermint Tea to help with digesting all the food in my tummy. By the end of the meal, I had far too many drinks in front of me.

6j3urr.jpg

Man oh man did I have to go to the bathroom after all that! And not that I didn't already have enough to drink, Bubba decided to order us each a smoothie to go :faint: Oh, and two bottles of wine :faint: :faint: Not to drink right away of course but to be shipped home with me.

It was a really great last meal at Le Cellier for the trip and for Tink as a server.

ra6jvk.jpg

Once the dining room emptied out, Tink got up on a pedestal in front of the fireplace for everyone to sing her out. She was in tears and we literally had to force her to get up there. Nobody ever wants to get sung out because it means it's the end. I'm sure in the back of Bubba's mind, she was seeing herself standing up there in a couple weeks.

We left Le Cellier with full bellies and a heavy heart. It was time for Bubba to take me to the airport. As we were walking back towards the big fountain, the theme from Rescuer's Down Under was playing. Bubba had told me on multiple occasions that every time she heard this song, it made her think of me. Now, as I heard the song play, my emotions overwhelmed me. I knew Bubba's contract was coming to an end and Disney just wasn't going to be the same. It's a different experience when your sister is a CM versus not. I started bawling my eyes out.

Bubba: Are you crying?

Me: *sniff* yes... *sniff*

Bubba: Why?! What's wrong!

Me: I'm just sad that the trip is over... and... *sniff*.... you're contract is almost done. It's like the end of an era.

Bubba: Yeah... it is, isn't it?

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where I got the title for this TR.

Once I composed myself, we left Epcot for the last time of the trip. We got to the airport with lots of time to spare.

4tq54z.jpg

I was so bummed out at this point. I didn't want to go home. Bubba came to the check-in counter to help me with my bags. I found out at that point that my flight had been delayed by 45 minutes. Ugh. I had some time to kill. Bubba stayed with me as long as she could. She had already made plans with her Disney buddies for that afternoon. We said our goodbyes, we hugged and I watched her leave, knowing that I wouldn't be seeing her for 2 months.

qpgjf5.jpg

:sad1:

I spent the rest of my time exploring the airport before going through security. I found the Disney store and did some browsing. Didn't end up buying anything.

2s8fyuo.jpg

It finally came time for me to go through security and to my gate. One last glance at the MCO airport and I was going home.

14wzi21.jpg

Here be the end to my End of an Era Trip Report. In closing, I'd just like to say how much I appreciate all of you for reading along. I'm glad to share in my experiences with fellow Disney fanatics. This trip had it's share of surprises, happiness, and sadness. I hope to begin a TR for my April trip in the coming weeks. Doing that will keep me pre-occupied until my next Disney trip, which at the present time has not been scheduled yet. It's weird not having another trip lined up. Although.... Bubba and I are currently discussing something but it's all in the light, fluffy "I wish we could do this" talk. You'll be in the know if anything becomes a for sure thing (I hope it does!)

Until then, I leave you with a look at the Disney bounty I brought back with me from this trip :goodvibes

zx7fyo.jpg

:cheer2:THANKS FOR READING!:cheer2:

Gawrsh!

Love it! Now you're catching on.

I say poo all the time too!! Maybe it's a Canadian thing...or an Ontarian (Ontarionian??) thing.

Us Canadians, eh? :rotfl2:

I can't remember how to sing the anthem in french but I remember hating to sing it in english. I looked forward to high school where no one sang it. 'Course then we just stood there looking like gumby heads, but....:rotfl2:

Now I can't sing the anthem without crying, so....:confused3

Must be something that happens when you get older.... your emotions get all out of whack  I can relate to high school - nobody ever sung the anthem! We all stood there, overtired and stressed from pulling an all nighter.

I can't wait to hear about April's trip!!

All in good time.... all in good time....

That's what I'm talkin' about! Love the "rich, smich". :rotfl2:

Ok, ok. Clearly I need to improve my tastes on these zebra domes.
