The End of an Era - Where Dreams Come True at Pop & Kidani **NEW 5/28 FINALE

Gosh, what can I say?!?! Except, I can't wait to visit this resort, even just for a little bit in 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's perfectly beautiful!

That shower is for the honeymooners. They didn't inform you when you checked in?

Dang, since your quotes are embedded in my quote, I can't reply to your replies, if you know what I mean. :rotfl:

So, if I can remember what I was going to comment on...

Yes, we're staying at Kidani in June for the last 4 nights of our trip (and savanna view too!).

I'll be seeing the WL lobby for the first time this June. I booked a dinner at Whispering Canyon so that I can check out the resort.

That gun artifact was in Jambo House right?

It was pretty funny when I found it. I think we let the front desk know when we were checking out. But seriously, how does something like that happen?!

It can probably easily happen when they're installing hundreds of tubs, but you'd think somebody would notice.

HOW DID YOU KNOW!!??

Oh you know. It's my old telepathy kicking in again

The cheese platter IS on my must-do's for CG!!! I think I posted that i knew everyone was going to think me weird, but I was going to get the cheese platter and sushi. Oddest combo EVER, but that's waht sounded good. That was BEFORE I found a way to fit in a platter from the Kona cart at the Poly. So Sushi went off, but the cheese platter stayed on. Now, I have to figure out waht to get WITH my delectable cheeses. :confused3 A flatbread??

The meal sounds like the exact same thing we ordered when we dined at the Cali Grill in November! Great minds think alike! I wouldn't say it's the oddest combo :rolleyes1 Bubba got the sushi and cheese platter and her main meal were scallops. Not sure if that suits your fancy though...

I doubt I'll get an entree, cuz I really want dessert.... so maybe cheese and one other appie, and dessert. that should do it.

I can't remember what I got for dessert but it was delicious!

Gosh, what can I say?!?! Except, I can't wait to visit this resort, even just for a little bit in 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's perfectly beautiful!

3 months?! Is that all?? What are we going to do when your trip is over?! No more random babblings on your PTR.

That shower is for the honeymooners. They didn't inform you when you checked in?

Psht. Honeymooners!

Dang, since your quotes are embedded in my quote, I can't reply to your replies, if you know what I mean. :rotfl:

Whoops! Well, I'm just making more work for ya ;)

So, if I can remember what I was going to comment on...

Yes, we're staying at Kidani in June for the last 4 nights of our trip (and savanna view too!).

Hopefully you're savannah view will be better than ours was. By the way, you wouldn't happen to need anyone to help carry your luggage, would ya?

I'll be seeing the WL lobby for the first time this June. I booked a dinner at Whispering Canyon so that I can check out the resort.

For the first time?! What have you been doing all this time?! :rotfl: You will love it. It's my fav deluxe resort.

That gun artifact was in Jambo House right?

Yes indeedy.

It can probably easily happen when they're installing hundreds of tubs, but you'd think somebody would notice.

You'd think.... but who knows. I guess everyone was always too lazy to report it.

A new value resort? Really? It's still during the summer though....I'll most likely be staying off-site if I'm going to PeepFest

Wow, that pool sure looks great huh? I'm really looking forward to resort hopping on my trip. I also can't wait to eat at Boma!

Yup, a new value resort is being built! If you're going to Peepfest? If?! I hope you can make it! The pool did look amazing. Too bad I couldn't try it out. Boma is fabulous. I can't remember... are you eating there for breakfast or dinner?

Gosh. I really have been neglecting my poor TR. Just a quick life update to explain my absence. I've been working hard at this riding stable every Sunday. It's hard work but I love being around the horses. This past Sunday, I learned how to feed all 50+ horses. I never knew there were so many different ways to feed a horse. I have riding lessons every Monday now in the evening. Each lesson I've ridden a different horse. It's good because this helps me learn what each horse is like. Yesterday, I rode a horse named Grit. He was a beauty! I'll have to start taking pictures of the horses I ride so I can share the experience with everyone :goodvibes My regular work as a TA has been keeping me busy as well. Most of the time I don't get a chance to even get on the DIS... not that I should be on here during work time...and it's not like none of us come on here when we're on the clock :rolleyes1

In addition to all that, my grandma was in the hospital all of last week. She had a hard time recovering from her surgery. She got a bacterial infection and couldn't keep food down for the first few days. The morphine made her act out all her dreams and made her feel very disoriented. She wasn't herself at all. She was finally discharged on Sunday so myself and the family have been getting accustomed to having her home again. I'm glad that whole ordeal is over with.

Yesterday was my younger step-sister's 19th birthday. To celebrate, I'm taking her and Bubba horseback riding at a place about 2 hours from here. It's a 2 hour trail ride that takes us along a beach, through forest trails and fields. I've booked it for next Tuesday. I'm really looking forward to that.

And finally, my DBF left for Paris on Saturday with his parents. I would have gone with him but sadly I couldn't afford it and couldn't get the time off work. Gee, I only just came back from 10 days at Disney! He's leaving for Italy tomorrow to visit his relatives. We've been in contact over Skype but he's not sure he'll get internet in Italy. I'm crossing my fingers that he does!

So that's just about everything that's been going on over the last week. Pretty crazy, huh? Can't say I've been bored! For all those loyal readers out there, I have been reading your PTRs and TRs, just haven't had much time to reply. I promise you I'm always reading and I'm hoping that now that all this craziness is off my chest, I can update and reply more! I plan to update this baby later today so stay tuned :hippie:

Wow, so busy!

Yes.....none of us goes on the DIS at work....we're very good workers......

I hope your grandma is feeling better.

Where is the stable you work at? I've got a friend that works at a stable too!

I'm already planning a trip for Aug 2012, and Peepfest is during peak season, which is why I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it. Most likely will be able to go for the Feb one though.

I'm eating at Boma for dinner. Breakfast just didn't seem that special to me. I wanted to have a large menu of new foods to try.

Yes, where have you been?

And here on the DIS, you should start your post with "Gawrsh".

This past Sunday, I learned how to feed all 50+ horses. I never knew there were so many different ways to feed a horse.

Don't you just throw some hay and oats up in the air and yell "here, horsey horsey!"?

Wha?!

That sounds awful. Sorry to hear about that.

What's wrong with the people employing you? They actually want you to come in to work?! Tell 'em you're doing research.

Yes, pretty crazy. Can't wait for the update. popcorn::

I hope your grandma is feeling better.

She's feeling better. It's been a long, slow recovery though :guilty:

Where is the stable you work at? I've got a friend that works at a stable too!

I'd rather not specify exactly which one but it's just outside of stouffville (not like that narrows it down much)

Wait, when is the non-Feb Peepfest? I thought it was always in Feb, no?

I'm eating at Boma for dinner. Breakfast just didn't seem that special to me. I wanted to have a large menu of new foods to try.

Dinner is a good choice if you are looking for culinary exploration. I copped out and just ate breakfast at Boma :p

Yes, where have you been?

I love those emoticons you find! And I never even thought about writing "Gawrsh" You're good!

Don't you just throw some hay and oats up in the air and yell "here, horsey horsey!"?

:rotfl2::lmao: If only it was that easy!

That sounds awful. Sorry to hear about that.

It was. Thankfully the worst part of it is over. She's still not herself though...

Sounds like a great ride!

I hope so! At least better than what we had at Disney. More details on that in my next update.

What's wrong with the people employing you? They actually want you to come in to work?! Tell 'em you're doing research.

:scratchin Something tells me that won't go over so well with the boss

Yes, pretty crazy. Can't wait for the update. popcorn::

Yeah... about that update. Doesn't look like it materialized this evening. I got too caught up in watching "First Do No Harm" starring Meryl Streep. Pretty good movie. Look it up on YouTube :thumbsup2

Good to hear from you, Jen.

I'm glad your grandmother is home again. Older people often get confused in hospitals.. It's really tough to have to see them like that, I'm sure it's no picnic for them. Is she back to her old self?

How long will your boy be in Paris?

The regular Peepfest was always in June/July. Feb was the Peepfest for people that couldn't make June. It's also the one that's actually closer to Jordy's b-day

What a full, and at times stressful, week you've had. Having a sick family member is NEVER fun, Jen!! So glad she seems to be on the mend, and things are getting more normal for her.

That trail ride sounds heavenly! We took a ride as a family up into the mountains in Kyrgystan a couple years ago, and it was such a lovely day! But, honestly, I"m glad I could hand those horses back, say thank you very much, and send them off to be fed and cared for by someone else!

Tell your BF he should do a tr for us. :lmao:

Nice to hear from you too, as always :goodvibes

Not quite. She's still feeling tired. But seriously, she just had major surgery! And she's 90! She can't expect to be up and energetic after all that right away.

How long will your boy be in Paris?

He was in Paris for 3 nights. Now he's in Italy for 2 weeks :(

I'm thinking I'll be at the Feb one. Unless Glen is planning on the June one since that's the time he usually travels to Disney. It'd be nice to meet more people at once that I talk to on here :)

Looks like you're not having a day at the park either! We all have our moments. She's still on the mend... I'm thinking it'll take a lot longer for her to get her strength back. She still gets run down quicker than usual.

Totally. It's amazing how much work it is to take care of those beasts. But my heart is in it so it's not so hard for me. I'm really looking forward to the trail ride! I'm very glad I've included horses in my life again :cloud9:

Tell your BF he should do a tr for us. :lmao:

:rotfl2: That'll be the day.

Wow. You have been busy. Glad your grandmom is OK. Drugs and older people in the hospital is never a good mix. So glad she is home.

Your horse job sounds interesting, although I am sure its a lot of work.

I hope your DBF is having a nice time in Italy and I hope you are able to reach him on skype.

Just get back to your TR when you have time!

I'm not 100% sure, but....the June one does match-up nicely with our usual travel time, so I'd say it is likely that we'll be there for it. How's that for wishy-washy and kind of confident all at the same time?

This Peep is going in Feb. if I can talk Cynthia or Cherie into going with me. AND IF, I can talk DH into letting me go! And that is a mighty BIG IF!!

Our last day began with breakfast at Boma.

dgmakx.jpg

I had purposely made our ADR for later in the morning, around 9:30am, so we would be able to get our lazy butts out of bed. In November, we ended up sleeping through it! Not this time! In hindsight, we should've had dinner here because for breakfast, they just had typical breakfast food that can be found at ALL the buffet breakfasts. They had a little bit of authentic African food but I was a little disappointed.

I started with some colorful froot loops to brighten my day.

qyabtd.jpg

And for my sweet tooth from the bakery

2ypgg06.jpg

Bubba opted for the healthier, less sugary option of cereal and had Corn Flakes

15yyqfl.jpg

We also had a spread of waffles and fresh fruit but there's not much I can really say was outstanding in this meal except...........

THIS JUICE!!!!

2lw6r1g.jpg

This juice was super yummy. I wish they could bottle it up and sell it. I'm sure they do... I just haven't found it yet. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal but next time, I'm booking dinner here.

At one point, I went to seek out the zebra domes. Little did I know that they do not serve them at breakfast :headache: I was so distraught that I had missed out on the chance of zebra domes! So right after we finished breakfast, we headed straight to Mara and bought ourselves a package of super rich Zebra Domes.

21lihk5.jpg

I wasn't expecting them to be so rich but as soon as I bit into one, I was a bit taken back. Both Bubba and I could only eat one dome in one sitting. It was also still so early in the morning for something that rich so the leftovers went into our fridge. Back in the room, we packed up the rest of our luggage, remaining food in the fridge, loaded up the car and made our way over to Fort Wilderness for our horseback ride.

219anhz.jpg

Horses have always been my thing. At the earliest age of 3, I was in love. There's a home video of me standing at the top of the train station in MK, constantly pointing and telling my Dad "I want to see the horse." The love still runs in my veins to this day. I took horseback riding lessons for 6 years until school (and boys  ) got in the way and I had to stop. Worst. mistake. ever. After nearly a 5-year hiatus, I am back in the saddle taking lessons again. :thumbsup2 Okay, getting back to the trail ride! We signed up for the 11:30am ride at a cost of $45 per person with my AP discount.

2mng9on.jpg

We got there a bit early so we had to wait another 15 minutes before the rest of our group arrived. There was a young girl waiting with her Dad. Bubba pointed out that she might be autistic by the way she was acting. The little girl was really nice and talkative. I thought, how nice of the father and daughter to go on a trail ride together. Then, when they started bringing the horses out, they gave a horse to the girl but the father was sitting it out! How could he let his (what we thought) autistic child to ride a 1200 pound animal ON HER OWN?! :scared1: Granted these horses are probably so used to the trail so they aren't crazy. Regardless, these are still unpredictable animals. Anything can happen. There was another couple who didn't even wear helmets! I was shocked that they even made helmets optional.

Bubba was first to get her horse. His name was Jesse a.ka. Houdini. He got that nickname because he had figured out a way to untie himself from the fence, no matter how tight they tied the knot. My horses' name was Bugsy.

30ufepx.jpg

The ride lasted about an hour. To be honest, it was a little high priced for what it was. I mean, yes it's great to go on a trail ride in Disney but to walk along a trail with no hills and nothing but sticks and mud to look at isn't all that exciting. If you're an experienced rider like me, don't waste your money. If you've never been on a horse before, this would be a great experience. The horses are gentle, if not half asleep, and the people are very friendly. When we got back in the car, we found our Zebra domes to be completely melted! Bummer.

After my dose of horses was finished, we left for Epcot.

2vifapt.jpg

Today was Tink's last day of being a CM so Bubba wanted to be there to sing her out. For those of you not acquainted with Tink, allow me to introduce:

21bjg9x.jpg

What's a "sing-out", you ask? It's something the CMs do for whomever is on their last day of work. I'm not sure if they do it the same way at all the locations but at Le Cellier, they sing O Canada while you stand up where the fireplace is in the dining room. It's probably the saddest moment of a CMs contract.

The plan was to go to Le Cellier to see if we could sneak in for a lunch reservation with Tink as our server. First, we stopped at Test Track to grab a Fastpass to pass the time we'd probably have to wait for a table at Le Cellier.

2n669dw.jpg

ogyvbn.jpg

Off we went to Le Cellier. On our way, we caught glimpses of some of the topiaries for the Flower & Garden Festival.

qsl6ra.jpg

a2f5o0.jpg

At Le Cellier, they told us we could be sneaked in at 2:30pm. Perfect timing as our fastpass was right in between that. So off we went back to Test Track (yes, we did lots of walking!) to get bumped and jostled around. Here's what a Mack truck looks like in super high speed!

2cosoxt.jpg

Shocking. I know.

x60ied.jpg

ng9icp.jpg

Bubba was clearly disappointed since the doors were open at the part where it looks like you're going to hit the wall. Totally ruins the effect. I didn't think it mattered after riding it so many times.

By the time we got off Test Track, the sky was looking not so friendly.

11v4hzq.jpg

But it didn't matter since it was time for lunch!

2z7r1oi.jpg

Wow. You have been busy. Glad your grandmom is OK. Drugs and older people in the hospital is never a good mix. So glad she is home.

I always thought my Grandma would be different because she just so resilient. I guess no matter what, her age can never hide itself...

Your horse job sounds interesting, although I am sure its a lot of work.

It is a TON of work. I'm really glad I'm doing it though. My goal is to become a riding lesson instructor.

I hope your DBF is having a nice time in Italy and I hope you are able to reach him on skype.

When he was in Paris, we talked every night, at least twice a day via Skype. But that was easier because I had a couple days off work. This week when I've been at work has been really hard because when I'm at work is when he's available to talk! It really sucks. He still has internet in Italy, which is good. We've been talking via e-mail but it's definitely not the same. I hope we can touch base this weekend.

Just get back to your TR when you have time!

I know, I know. I'm just one of those people that hate to keep people waiting. And when I start something, I want to finish it!

I'm not 100% sure, but....the June one does match-up nicely with our usual travel time, so I'd say it is likely that we'll be there for it. How's that for wishy-washy and kind of confident all at the same time?

 Well... I'd say it's leaning more towards actually GOING. I might be flexible on the dates so perhaps I'll wait to see who confirms more on whichever date. Yeesh. That sounds complicated.

This Peep is going in Feb. if I can talk Cynthia or Cherie into going with me. AND IF, I can talk DH into letting me go! And that is a mighty BIG IF!!

Oh just tell your DH you need it to keep your sanity! Plus you'd have a mighty many disappointed friends if you don't show... that includes me!

The Zebra Domes look delicious. Actually, that whole breakfast is yummy!

What's a "sing-out", you ask? It's something the CMs do for whomever is on their last day of work.

That's so sweet. Have you seen 28 Days with Sandra Bullock, the movie about her character going into rehab. When the patients leave, they did a sing-out. That's what your post reminded me of.
