I have heard several times that there is a chocolate buffet in Lumiere's one night..... never saw it, and never heard anyone talk about it. Is this REAL or is it just a Disney Urban Legend...... :confused3

It exists - on longer cruises, not short ones. We have had it on 7 day and longer ones, and honestly, lately have see it on only the 14 day cruises (TAs and PC).

I agree, it is elusive! We've never made it to any of the chocolate buffets although they've had them on each of our cruises. I vaguely remember our servers mentioning it to us on our first cruise but it went in one ear and out the other (too full at dinner to even think of more food!). On our second cruise, we were too tired to go but my in laws made sure they went down. They said not alot of people were there. And on the third cruise, we had the best intentions but chose sleep instead but once again, the in laws made it to the buffet. You really don't hear people talk about it here or on board but they do exist!

Seven night cruises! Pictures from our Nov/Dec 2010 Western Caribbean cruise...

I have plenty more, but Photobucket is not cooperating with me tonight.

Both cruises they have had it, but both times I completely missed it! My daughters managed to happen upon it and only liked one of the three things they tried....I'm just not sure it's that much fun to be around that many people taking samples of little bites of stuff.....maybe I'll make it in September...if anything for the pictures! :)

Whoa! I might gain more weight than I thought on this trip! Will it be listed in our Navigator?

7 night and longer cruises, usually on the second to last night. It is a dessert buffet with a chocolate fountain.

We had the dessert buffet on our Oct & Dec MR cruises on the Wonder. I read recently that they have eliminated them. I don't know if whoever it was that posted that just missed it, or maybe their particular cruise (for whatever reason) didn't have it.

:cutie:

We are sure they keep it a secret because they don't want too many people showing up which is sad since they probably throw away so much.

Hey Kara,

They had one on our cruise as well. My server told me about it when I was ordering dessert - telling me to save room for the chocolate. What was weird is that she said it kind of hush, hush, like every one wasn't supposed to know about. Because of late dining, we were too full to stop by, so I don't remember which night it was on.

With early dining this time, we should have PLENTY of room.....
Tori is going to flip over the fountain.

On our Alaska cruise in August there was the chocolate buffet
I do believe it was the second to the last night

I believe it started at 11:00 but by 10:30 people were lining up.
The funny thing is as other people would walk by and say out loud....
... why are people lining up for???

It was tasty!!

Definitely real! :goodvibes Some pictures from the Wonder last year are below. And since I just happen to know you'll be doing a 7 night WC on the Magic soon - :woohoo: - you'll be happy to know that according to a recent Navigator our chocolate buffet should be the night of our second sea day (semi-formal night and second to last night of the cruise). See you there!

I was soooooo looking forward to this on our last cruise! My experience was tremendously disappointing. It was so crowded I could barely reach the tables, there was no crowd control nor available seating. A total zoo.

The chocolate buffet is one of my favorite DCL memories. Not so much because of anything that was offered, but because my daughter really hit it off with our dining room head server one cruise, and she arranged to let DD in a few minutes early so she could have the first chocolate strawberry from the fountain. A magical moment for us! :goodvibes

There wasn't one on our 7-day Jan 8. 2012 MR cruise. :confused3

yep we had it on our 7 night med cruise last year. We went back to the room to change (it must have been on formal night??) and I fell asleep on bed - DH woke me and asked if I still wanted to go - yeah. it is at midnight in lumieres and as I say i think ours was on formal night.

I am sad to say they have stopped the dessert buffet on the Wonder, at least for now. Sailed last week and spoke to the head server, Deniz, about it. He said there was so much waste they discontinued it. :sad1:

:grouphug: Miss you guys! I am glad we enjoyed our buffet in April, because it was a no go this time around. I was surprised a lot had changed for the MR since our April cruise. I think it is time I get off the west coast and see what the Caribbean has to offer.

It's not just a chocolate buffet, but a desert buffet also. Gosh, it starts close to midnight and last about 45 minutes if I remember correctly. We went when we did the Western Caribbean on the Magic in 2010. I know that they had it when we did the Mexican Riviera on the Wonder in December, but neither of us could stay awake long enough to go downstairs and enjoy it.

That first year, we brought way too many deserts up to our room and had a really nice time enjoying them on the verandah and talking about all our favorite activities on the cruise and in the ports. In fact I think that and the Pirate Party buffet were two of my son's favorite activities.

How odd, I got a totally different story on the same cruise. On one of the last nights I was walking through the atrium and all the servers were in their tuxes posed on the stairs with trays of delicious looking petit-for desserts. I asked guest services why and they said they normally do a dessert buffet but since there was the virus precautions going around, they were doing this instead. We had chocolate covered strawberries and truffles and some other delicious little goodies. Was a great late night snack.
