The Edison or Wine Bar George?

Looking for recommendations for our arrival day late afternoon lunch in DS. Which do you recommend? Or is there another you'd recommend instead?

We haven't been to Wine Bar George, but we had lunch at The Edison last year and really enjoyed it. DH and I both had burgers and they were phenomenal. Probably some of the best burgers we've ever had.

WBG is by far our favorite restaurant in Disney Springs. We went to the Edison once, and everything was good, but we haven't been back since we started going to WBG, everything we have had at WBG has been fantastic and the service is great and knowledgeable.

Depends on the type of food you like; we love the Boathouse for lunch or dinner. Sit on the deck out by the water, great food and drinks. If you are looking for a vote between the 2 you listed I would go with Edison; super cool spot and solid food.

We had drinks at the Edison and drinks and appetizers at Wine Bar George. Both were good, but will be going back to Wine Bar George again.
Similar complaint as many restaurants. It was 2 pm at the Edison, lots of tables open everywhere. Wouldn't sit you at a table without a reservation, had to sit at the bar. We had planned to eat there.

That's great to hear (about Boathouse)! We are planning to do Boathouse for dinner another night.

W'v done both and either one is a good choice. I'd go with wine bar George just for the ease of getting in. No need for an ADR at that time of day.

I've only been to the Basket, but the Mac n Cheese bites? Man, I still think about those things. I've not been to the Edison, but just looking at the menus and photos, Winebar George would be my choice.

So, my DS recommendations are this: Chicken Guy.....gosh I love Chicken Guy. But, if you're wanting something maybe a smidgen more upscale, check out D-Luxe Burger. Yes, it's fast casual, but the porch that overlooks the water is really a nice view, and it provides a nice, comfortable ambiance.

Not sure how many are in your party, but next time, my plan was to hit Jaleo for happy hour. Or Sangria Hour. They have a great selection of apps, enough to make a meal out of. And, you get the experience of eating at a signature restaurant for a fraction of the price.

The thing about empty tables and not seating people at them. It depends on staffing. A server can only handle so many tables at one time. Past the point service is impacted, i.e. long waits for initial drink orders, long waits for the drinks to arrive and it cascades from there.

If a restaurant only has a x-number of servers, they may only seat x-number of tables. 2pm is an in-between time so they may have cut the some of the day time servers.

A corollary of this, tables remaining empty for a bit of time. A server can only handle so many tables being sat at one time in their section. Double-sat is doable, triple-sat starts pushing it and depending the server you can start running into the delays mentioned above. Quad-sat and you are almost certain to run into the above delays.

We haven't done The Edison either but really like wine bar george. We are a family who likes to share our food anyway so WBG was perfect as we could share a few small plates vs eating a meal. Plus they have so many unique wines to try.

I've only done the Edison but our experience was terrible. The food was very overcooked and the service was asking for our dessert order 5 minutes after we had ordered our dinner. And then we never saw her again until it was time for the check. ( At which point we ordered dessert ). We were there a total of 45 minutes so it wasn't like we were lingering. I've heard good things about Wine Bar George and we'll give that one a try next trip.

I'd go back to the Edison, but later for entertainment, cocktails and maybe a try an appetizer or two but not for dinner.

I would have asked to see a manager. I have done that several times when there was no discernible reason for poor service (like the server was triple sat). Conversely, I have asked to see a manager when I received outstanding service.

I think the atmosphere at the Edison tends to be better at night, with music and entertainers walking around. We stopped in during the afternoon once and the place was dead. We came back later in the trip after 9pm for a drink, and it was a much more interesting atmosphere. Of the two for a late afternoon lunch, I'd go with Wine Bar George.

But of all the places in Disney Springs, my main choices would be Boathouse, Homecomin, or Raglan Road.

I would vote WBG for sure. Really good product.
