The Duggar Family is pregnant AGAIN!

My guess is that amoung those kids, even now perhaps, but certainly later in life, that there will be varied opinions on their parents having so many kids. It will be interesting to see them in another 20 years.

Can they AFFORD to send any of the kids to college? I'm not thinking of just the college expenses, but the loss of a worker/nursemaid. Perhaps they commute to a community college?

That is probably why they go on these shows, they are getting paid to!

Some of those kids especially the girls will probably have very small families if any. They have all ready raised how many babies, done so many loads of laundry, and changed so many diapers. The horrors they shouldn't have to find out about until adulthood.

I don't have a problem with large families. I have 4 myself which I guess is nothing compared to the Duggars but I am against having a child that you intend for another child to take care of.

There is a big age gap between my 2 oldest and 2 youngest. My oldest will be 21 this year and second one is 18. The 2 little ones are 8 and 6 and no way would I expect my 2 oldest to feed, bath, dress and care for on a daily basis.

So true, but the bolded statement made me laugh. :rotfl:

She's a human pez dispenser. ;)

I don't give a crap how many kids this family has. I just wish they weren't so boring if they were going to keep giving them TV specials. There's enough garbage on my 150 channels now. Maybe if they were carnies or solved crimes it wouldn't bother me so much.

Personally, I think it's stupid and unfair to the rest of the kids. There, I said it.

:thumbsup2

It's repugnant. Any animal can reproduce like that. If they want more children, how about adopting some hard to place child?

DH's dad is one of 12. He had 4 kids and one brother had 3. The rest had 1 each. That tells me how much they enjoyed having a large family.

I don't think any of us should be telling people how to go about making their families.

I completely agree since she relies on the other children to raise the younger ones. I saw photos of their family a few months after Jennifer was born and she was ALREADY in the care of her sibling. She couldn't have been more than 3 months old. So now the older daughter is more of a mom than the mother. It sickens me, it really does.

I couldn't even imagine passing the responsibility of my son off to another sibling. :sad2:

Seriously? :sad2: That's quite the "accomplishment." I mean, having more children than you can care for is a great idea. If someone had this many cats they would be called crazy...

I agree...the Dad makes plenty of money and they take care of their own. They aren't hurting anyone. THey don't have 10 Moms and one Dad. They don't go to public school. THey can do what they want. I choose not to have that many babies, but I won't chastised those who do.

They just showed "Breakfast in bed with Emiril" on GMA. The mother they honored had 17 kids. But this was from the 60's to 70's. It was quite touching. However, I have to wonder if they got the same notoriety(money and support) that the Duggers have. Or had the "buddy" system. I seriously doubt it.

My mother was pregnant every year from 1956-1973. No money or notoriety. We did not have a "buddy" system.

I can't watch that show. I tried once, and I just laughed at how all the ideas she came up with for the kids to do their chores ect, she made it sound like nobody ever thought of that before.

Making paper money and calling them "Duggar Dollars"...will allow them to earn prizes, priviledges, ect. Like no mother has ever replaced real money with paper money for their kids to learn about earning.

As for the older kids raising the younger kids....

My oldest sister is 11 year older than me. (2nd born) All of us siblings have a close relationship to her. She has become the matriarch of this family, now that mom and dad are gone. We look to her for advice and support. There is also no arguing with her, LOL.

Anyway, she has said that she resents the part of her life where she missed out on playing outside, because she had to change diapers. She would be playing baseball with our brothers, and the neighbor kids, and she would be called home, not my brothers. She resented it, and it ticked her off, but she never took it out on us, or resented us.

She got married when I was 10yo. I had 4 siblings younger than me. We were SPOILED by her after she got married.

I heard her newest idea was if the kids were extra good they got to spend 5 minutes with the parents one on one. It's called reaching Duggtopia.

Your sister sounds like she was an amazing kid and now an amazing woman. Her resentment is understandable. No child should be forced into early parenthood.

my greatgrandmother was one of 16 and this was back in the days of the depression. She and her brothers and sisters were all very close. Infact she lived with one of her sisters til the day she died (she was a widow early in life as was her sister) I see nothing wrong with big families. Sure its not that common these days but really it wouldn't be that unusual if it was 60 years ago.... I have almost 4 and some people think my family is big or too big.. unless your here everyday babysitting or supporting my kids what right do you have to tell me how many kids I can have? same goes with them.

Let me rephrase: They can have as many children as they want. I just don't think there is anything admirable or praise-worthy about reproducing like rabbits. And it shouldn't be newsworthy either.

No offense, Chobie, but if we cut everything off of the airways that was not admirable, there'd be nothing left. I'd rather watch the Duggers, then, say, anything with Britney, etc...:rotfl:

It is about entertainment and money, rather than "newsworthy."
