The Dream Is So Nice, We Did It Twice!

Looks like you had an awesome day Shay! Thanks for the tip on the Aquaduck, we'll definitely have to try and get on it during the show. Do you know if it has posted hours? Or is it open all the time?

It is open only certain times. Though it does seem to get shut down at odd times during the day. One time there was a "Baby Ruth" incident on the Aquaduck and the Mickey pool, causing both to shut down (at different times.) Now, the Mickey pool I can understand, but how does one do that in the Aquaduck?

Another good time for the Aquaduck was in between dinner times.

eeewww.

Thanks for being so detail oriented in your TR Shay. I am really enjoying it as a veteran DCL cruiser but never yet on the Dream... I am getting the bug to pay the bucks to do this ... keep going when you can... ready for more info and pics... and did you ever ride the Aquaduck? was it worth it? do they have the hamburger and pizza places like they do on the Magic and the Wonder? Thanks for the info!:surfweb:

I think the Dream was well worth it. Though there were a few things I think we liked better on the Magic and Wonder, the lower crowds for one. The Dream had even more options all in one area for quick service. I really enjoyed the wraps, I think they were at Flo's Cafe. The best part though was the extended FroZone soft serve ice cream area. I loved the strawberry/chocolate swirl. :thumbsup2 The kids loved the banana/chocolate. And I do eventually ride the Aquaduck. :thumbsup2

I'll work on my day at sea, complete with more pictures like the one below later :

Until then I'll leave you with another video of the animated art, this one of Alice was a favorite. Ignore me yelling at my child to let me watch the art.

Just click it to watch.

GROSS! How does one do a "baby ruth" on the Aqua Duck! I thought it had weird hors too. On our CC day I wanted to take DD on it first thing, but it didn't open till 11. So we had to come back and ride it.
I thought CC was kind of crowded too. Not bad, but a little more than I expected it to be. It was pretty, but I wish we had more time to see more of it. DD wouldn't go to the club, so I never got any time to myself to walk around and look at everything. It was bigger than I expected though too.

Too bad we didn't get our girls together. My DD5 spent a lot of time in the club on CC during the 3 day. They could have played together while the adults were at Serenity Bay.

What if they were afraid and riding the Aquaduck scared the you-know-what outta them? :confused3

After last year's Baby Ruth incident at our Y (the offender was 11... :sad2:), nothing surprises me any more.

Day 4 - Day at Sea

Days at sea are a favorite. Not just because of the multitude of activities on board or the ability to relax in little nooks around the ship, but a big reason is Palo's brunch.

Since I knew we didn't have to get up and rush, we all slept in. Until I got a phone call at 9 am from my friend to let me know brunch was at 10:30, not 11:30. I rushed up the stairs to Cabanas to grab the girls some food. DD11 met up with her buds to never been seen again until dinner. Then we dropped DD5 off at the kids club. She had looked over the Navigator that morning and had big plans. She told us the night before they had Cinderella for story time and today Belle was supposed to be there. Good, because we had big plans today too. First was brunch, then later we had tickets to some tastings.

We were the very first guests to arrive for brunch so I got to take pictures before everyone demolished the tables. Not that the tables ever look bad. I will let the pictures speak for me.

Priorities - my first picture was of the dessert table
IMG_1526.jpg

The hot breakfast food items, though a few had not been put out when I took the picture. You can order any of these. I had the Eggs Julia, which is a poached egg and smoked salmon on an English muffin with hollaindaise sauce. Yum!
IMG_1527.jpg

This table had caviar, cheese, crackers.
IMG_1528.jpg

This had pastries including some really amazing hot cinnamon buns.
IMG_1529.jpg

The seafood table. Loved the crab legs, shrimp and the shot glasses with bloody mary mix and baby shrimp (no alcohol.)
IMG_1530.jpg

There were also some really good lunch options to choose. DH ordered the chicken parmesan and we all shared a few pizzas.
IMG_1531.jpg

Our waitress Nicole was great. She worked for years on the Wonder then moved to the Dream. She said she may go to the Fantasy because she's tired of just going to Nassau and Castaway Cay all the time. :lmao:

After eating so much, all we wanted to do was a whole lot of nothing. DH and his friend had a beer tasting to go to, so my friends and I went to the nice spot on Deck 12 forward to read. My friend was peering over the front and was trying to figure out what was below us. A CM told us it was the concierge suites. She told us for the maiden voyage of the Fantasy, one family has booked the Roy, the Walt, the suite in between and the 2 suites on either side. All 5 concierge rooms. For a week. She figured it'd be at least 100k. :scared1: Boy, would I love that kind of money to be able to do that for my family.

We got DD5 out of the kids club for awhile, she still had more plans because there was a Tinkerbell talent show later. But until then, we walked around the shops, checked out the animated art, and DH took her to play mini golf. My friends and I met some members from the DIS board for a meet at Currents. There was a huge group in the FE, but only a few were able to make it to the meet. I was glad we made it. But we couldn't stay long because we had a martini tasting to make at Meridians.

DH dropped DD5 off at the kids club and the 5 adults met up for martinis. I have attended a few on the other ships and the tastings are always a little different. Though they always start the same, with a nasty gin martini. I can't remember all of the ones we tried, but DH fell in love with the Eco-tini. It has some sort of Acai liquor and it comes with an acai seed bracelet. We now have quite the collection of those. :rotfl2:

My DD5 came back from the kids club with different face paint every time. I think that's a heart on her face or maybe she was a kitty or a mixture of both because we never washed it off.

We were trying to kill some time before dinner so we just took a few pictures around the ship.

Dinner was at the Royal Palace again, but this time we got the regular menu. I didn't get the chance to take many pictures at dinner. I'll just say again that traveling with a divorcing couple can be awkward to say the least. But here's my steak with the lobster medallion.

IMG_1535.jpg

And really, I do have another DD, but you would barely know it with how often we saw her, so there aren't a lot of pictures.

Now since this was the last night of the 4 night, normally we'd be getting ready to go home. But we weren't... getting ready or going home. So next I'll talk about how we did the getting off the ship and back on again.

Coming up next. Let's Do It Again!

Tomorrow I'll be packing for our land/sea vacation! :cool1: So, I have a VERY important question for you: what did you think of the hair dryer on the Dream? I've reads many different things on these boards. I have thick, curly hair & it takes a while to dry my hair at home. Should I bring my own dryer or did you find the ones on the boat to be fine? Thanks!

Wow, all I can say about the food selections at Palo's brunch is OMG, OMG, especially the desserts! I think I would probably just go crazy for all the sweets!

Ooh, the brunch at Palo looks devine!! Clear something up for me as a newbie please, kids are not allowed at Palo, correct? DH and I have a daughter that will be 21 months when we cruise. I know that there is a "day care" on board, but I also know that it costs extra and space is limited. I'd really love to try and go to this brunch!

Sorry for the akwardness of the divorcing couple. Wow, yeah. Probably a ton of uncomfortable silence. *insert crickets here*

At least you knew your DD11 was having a blast, even if you didn't get to see her that often.

Claire only went to the club once. She had this fear (we figured out later) that we would do something fun without her) But we stil lhad fun, I just wish she would've had some fun with kids too.

I brought my own. I never tried the one on ship, but I know most hairdryers at hotels are worthless, so I bring my own from now on.

Remy's looks amazing...how did you get the extra course a la carte? Is it possible to ask for an extra dish?

I looked at the menus and I wish I could swap things around and create my own...will they let you do that? TIA! :goodvibes

Thanks for the input! I'm still trying to decide on whether or not to bring my own. I know I probably should, but I feel like I've already packed most of my house. :rotfl2: I have to wake up in 7 hours & still am no where near being ready to go to bed. Hopefully, after a couple of hours of sleep, I'll have made a decision. Thank you!!!

If you feel the need to dry your hair, pack your own. Though I was impressed with the dryer since it had more power than the Magic or Wonder did. It was just located in one of the cabinets so I found it while unpacking. I also have thick curly hair, but I usually let it dry naturally since I hate taking that long to do my hair.

Palo's is adults only. I used the Small World Nursery for my youngest when we cruised before and she loved it. It did cost extra. But I was a stay at home mom and was worried she'd hate it. She was 15 months and did not want to leave the nursery. That trend seems to have stuck because she still hates to leave the kids club. So hopefully you can get a little adult time on your cruise.

We just asked if we could add the a la carte dish to the menu and Jerry said no problem. I think you can also make a meal strictly out of the a la carte menu, but many of those items were also in the chef's menus. For that price, I recommend trying to get as much as you can, just realize each dish adds more time.

The dryer wasn't horrible, so if you don't have the room, don't pack it. You will be on vacation so you can let your curls go natural. That was my excuse for my puffy hair.

I hate taking long to do my hair, too! I like your excuse for the puffy hair....think I'm going to borrow your excuse & not pack the hair dryer. Luckily, I'm the family "photographer" so there are hardly ever any pictures of my on our vacations! :lmao:

Before we did the cruise, I searched high and low for information on B2B's but never found any set way it works. So I will tell you what we did and I will recommend what we did, ask before doing.

On our last night of the 4 night cruise, we went to Guest Services to ask what we should do about our luggage. Our whole group had the same room for both trips but we weren't sure what to do with all our stuff. We had read horror stories about items being thrown out on back to backs. The Guest Service person (who was still earning their ears) said to pack up all our stuff but leave it in the room. :scared1: That sounded like a whole lot of work and a surefire way to get our stuff thrown out in one fell swoop. We decided we'd talk to Nyooman our room steward instead. Good thing we did. He told us he had us marked down as a back to back, the stories of stuff being thrown out would never happen on his watch, and why on Earth would we be told to pack our stuff when we have the same room? He also said that we would get information that night about getting back on the ship the next day. He told us our room would be one of the first cleaned so we could get in it when we reboarded. :thumbsup2 Yeah Nyooman!

We did have to return DD5's arm band from the kids club because they were worried the computer would charge us. I'd rather wait in that line again than be charged, so we returned it.

Now, we did forget to ask one question. Do we still have to be out of the room at 8? I didn't think about that until I woke up at 7:45 the next morning. I jumped out of bed, peeped out, saw Nyooman and found out yes, we were supposed to be out in 15 minutes. :scared1: I called my friends to share the good news. :rolleyes1 My family and I quickly got dressed and headed up to Cabanas for breakfast. We watched all the sad people getting ready to leave the ship, knowing we were about to get right back on!:banana::banana:

After we ate, we made our way off the ship. We asked along the way where we were to go to get right back on. After going through customs, we were directed right back upstairs to the terminal. And this is what I saw.

IMG_2246.jpg

Yep. There was only one other non-CM in the whole building. Our friends joined us soon after. We had to wait about a half hour to check in. When we did, the CM said we'd be able to get back on around 10:30. So we had about an hour wait in the terminal. The kids club was not open for check-in's, but they told us we could get a band at 12:30 on the ship.

Finally, it was our turn to get back on board. And this time, no gigantic crowd blocked the entrance. We actually didn't even go in the main entrance. We were taken through the concierge area. There were no pictures, no "Welcome the Mean Queen" family, and no CM telling us where to go dine when we got on board. We didn't care, we were old pros by now.

Coming up next - We Sneaked a Peek at the Walt Suite and more

HOW COOL! The empty terminal is so cool looking....and I can tell you it didn't look that way when I was there. :lmao:
I hear conflicting reports about the B2B's too. Sounds like it went smoothly for you though.

It's a good thing you did speak with Nyooman or you probably would've been extremely upset, not to mention the headache it would have caused everyone.:headache:

That empty port looks amazing! Great shot of the girls with Captain Donald!
