The dreaded DHS CS Question

Okay, I think I already know the answer is a resounding "No", but I have to ask opinions: with Starring Rolls Café closed, are there any halfway decent counter-service locations at DHS?

PS - Counter service, quick service - either one. Is there even a difference? o_O

I thought Fairfax Fare at HS was just as good as Flame Tree BBQ in AK. Flame Tree gets lots of love here on the disboards. I also want to try the empanada place.

No. I stick to chicken nuggets on the rare occasion I eat quick service at the Studios. Otherwise I have been known to go hungry until I can get to Epcot.

Nope, there is nothing there that's worth chewing for CS. The lounge at HBD is VERY affordable and adorable. If that doesn't do it for you, mosey to the Swolphin Cabana Bar or to Epcot, its a lovely walk:)

Disney Food Blog (hope I'm allowed to mention another site here) mentions some items at different places that I never knew existed before. There is a place at the Sunset Ranch area that has a baked potato that sounds good and I think there is someone kind of Mac and Cheese at maybe Dino Gerties?? Take a peek at DFB, some of the things I read about made me think that TS might be not be the disaster I have always thought it was. Regardless, we will still stick with 50s Prime Time.

Most of the CS stuff is the same Disney versions of junk food they have in all the parks. If we're in DHS at lunchtime we'll have TS or exit the park and dine elsewhere.

Backlot Express has always been our go-to place for QS. The chicken salad is fresh and tasty with a southwest bend to it. But look into Sci-Fi Diner. Even though it is a table service place, the prices are not much more expensive than QS (as long as you don't order a bunch of those alcoholic milkshakes - yummy!)

DHS is woefully in need of more (and better) CS options. The ABC Commissary is abysmal. I don't know how they managed to mess up a burger but they did. There are okay pickings at Fairfax Fare but nothing great. Backlot is okay. Seriously, this park needs help.

It is the one park we cannot find any QS dish we find tolerable. I admit we don't care for QS but there are some that have a few decent items (ColumbiaHH, Sunshine Seasons) but HS has nothing. We often make a reservation for Somewhere on the Boardwalk or at Swan/Dolphin there are usually many available last minute.

I absolutely loved the sandwiches at Starring Rolls and looked forward to them every year. I loved eating something that wasn't deep fried or greasy to make me feel healthier. Lol does anyone know if they are sold anywhere else in the park? Or even something similar? Otherwise I see a carrot cake cookie and a darth vader cupcake as my lunch this fall.

Couldn't find anything that appealed to us for our recent trip without Starring Rolls. WE decided not to be in DHS for lunch, the pickings looked that slim. Otherwise we probably would have ended up at the Pizza Planet reboot. DHS also seems to have fewer options for non-beef and pork eaters than the other parks.

Backlot express has been our go to and the Chicken nuggets they serve there are the same darn ones everyone loves at all the other parks! Plenty of seating in AC and refill station too.

This is my backup option! I don't really love nuggets but my daughter does and it's really looking like the only option. I will say that we ate here in 2015 and it was the worst meal of our trip. I'm hoping the nuggets will redeem it for us!

They used to serve buffalo chicken nuggets and they were amazing!!!!!!! They took them off when they went to the star wars themed items. but yes most items here are decent!

No QS in DHS is worth eating to us. Without Starring Rolls, we will probably grab snack and either Picabu (take AAA card and get 20% off) at Swan or head over to Epcot. We sometimes eat at HBD lounge or 50s Prime.

Anyone have the breakfast sandwiches at Trolley Starbucks In HS? Are they decent? Do they have any lunch sandwiches there?

I saw sandwiches and salads pre-packaged here. As you wait in line, you go by the cases where they show the sandwiches, salads, etc, then you see the item packed up below there for you to grab as you head up to the counter to pay. Can't tell you wait those offerings are, but I did see lunch stuff there.
