I can't believe it! Maddie came back on her own after being gone three long days! :cheer2:
She took off on Saturday morn. because DH let her off her chain. Some of you may remember my rant post.
Anyway, we really thought someone had her, because she's small and friendly, and we couldn't find her ANYWHERE.
Last night, DD was in bed with me, and around midnight, she woke me up and said, "Mom, I hear Maddie!!"
I told her to go check, then I hear her scream MADDIE!!!!!
Sure enough, she came back. She was covered in mud, stinky, and had those burrs all over her fur. Now we don't live near a wooded area, so I'm thinking she must have gone pretty far away.
So at midnight last night, we're giving her a bath and cutting all the stuff out of her fur. She was a real mess, but VERY happy to see us!!
Thanks to those of you who sent along your good wishes for our dog.

I'm really happy for you. I can sympathize - we have a Chihuahua who will sneak off if you turn your back for a second. We joke at our house and say that you know you're a redneck when you have to call your dog with a bullhorn (the bullhorn's left over from softball days).

(One thing to think about, if she's not spayed, you might want to talk to your vet if you don't want puppies and there's any chance. They have a shot they can give her.)

I'm glad that your dog came back home. Three days is a long time - I'm sure that you and your family were worried sick.

This is one of those times when it would be nice if animals could talk, isn't it? :) Maddie could tell quite a story!

Thanks for your good thoughts. She is spayed, so no puppies here. I would, however, take the puppies just knowing that she's ok now. KWIM?

She's so exhausted, she slept all night, and is laying in the sun from the window right now. She probably lost 3 pounds. That's 1/3 of her weight!
She's not wanting to eat her regular food, but I had some softer stuff from the vet from when she had pancreatitis. She ate that.
Do you think I should take her to the vet to be checked out?
I already called the groomer. Even though we bathed her twice last night, she STIIIIIIINNNNNNKKKKKKSSSSS! :sad2:

That's funny you said that, DH joked that it's too bad we didn't have a "Maddie-Cam" to see where she went and what she experienced.

I'm glad she came home! :goodvibes

DH let our Missy off her leash a few weeks ago, said "Oh, I do this all the time, she never runs away when I'm out with her, she listens when I call her back!"

She took off, of course!

Fortunatly, she came trotting back up the driveway 10 minutes later, from the oposit direction DH said he saw her run off in. I told him the next time he lets her off her leash, he'd better be the one that runs away!

Glad to hear she's back - sounds like the groomer's going to be busy. :)
