This time 10 months and we'll be in Disneyland Paris - Denise and my 10th time, Lucas's 1st time, and now his Granny and Grandad's first time! My Mum and Step-Dad are coming with us - I invited them yesterday and they said yes today - wahooo! It will be great for Lucas to have lots of people he knows for his birthday and my Mum will be so pleased to be there. we have invited Denise's Mum and Step-Dad but they have never been out of the country and don't even have a passport, plus money is tighter with them, or so they tell us, despite their 16 year old boy having every games system ever made and a motorbike bought for him just 3 weeks ago!

Anyway, excited to be going on our first group trip to Disneyland Paris - wahoo!

Thats awesome news. I'm sure you will all make wonderful memories on this trip:thumbsup2

Awww, how exciting!!! Enjoy planning your trip, bet Lucas will enjoy it! :)

Thought you were expecting the patter of more tiny feet there for a minute:lmao:

Sounds great! :thumbsup2 Although I can't think of nothing worse than going on holiday to DLRP with my 'outlaws':rolleyes1 It will be lovely to share the experience though!:goodvibes

Does this mean that you have loads of babysitters with you then? We brought my parents once, but they didn't do any babysitting! I think they found there was more to do there than they had expected. I hope you all have a great time together.

My Mum lives in Spain half the year and 240 miles away when they are in the UK so she's looking forward to being there for Lucas's first Disney holiday, and also his 2nd birthday as they couldn't make his 1st.

Babysitting could come in bandy but we wouldn't want to take advantage of them being there, an evening out at the Blue Lagoon would do us, we haven't had that since 2006 as Denise was pregnant on our 2007 trip and didn't fancy anything on the menu, she was more into the cheesy potatos at Billy Bobs!

I'm thinking we will have Lucas's birthday meal in Walts, unless anyone has a better suggestion? We'll do Imventions another time too as my Muk will adore the food.

I was quite surprised when she said she loved the look of the Cheyenne, I expected her to prefer Disneyland Hotel I'd New York. Glad we'll all being staying in our favourite hotel. I may get Lucas a cowboy outfit to take with us, and maybe one for me too :)

We went away for a few days in Devon and Lucas both travelled well and slept fine in his carry cot, all good signs for the Disneyland Paris holiday next May!

I have a couple of questions:

At 2 years old would we need a carry cot or would he be in a bed by then?

Do other people who take toddlers book an extra Eurostar seat or do they have them on their lap for the journey?

Steve he might be in a bed by then, depends on him really. Don't think either of mine were in a bed at their 2nd birthday but on the other hand a travel cot would have been a squeeze. You could always get one of those My First Readybeds which have the anti-roll sides, and get him used to sleeping in it before you go. Disney would provide a travel cot but he might be big for it by then, especially as you look quite tall!
As for Eurostar, it is a squeeze on your lap. We didn't get a seat for our 3 yr old the first time, and got one the second! But it isn't a very long journey so it depends how strapped you are for cash really.

All really depends on the kiddie Steve. Kacee was in a cot for our first trip in October and again in December but from then on he sleeps in a bed...but that's becuase he does at home too. If he is in a bed at home by the time you go then he will refuse to go back in a cot if he is anything like Kacee :rotfl:

We had Kacee on our laps both time's on the Eurostar...however it's rarely full and then you could spread out :goodvibes

Thanks for the replised peoples :)

Photos must be flattering as I'm only 5' 10" and Lucas is quite the shortie too, he has little legs! Guess we'll have to see how he progresses over the next 9 months - his nursery did say they were going try one of his naps in a bed soon!

The missus and I are taking her parents to WDW next October, which will be their first ever Disney experience. As with yourself, we are really looking forward to showing it all off to them, and it is satisfying to have a good knowledge of everything in advance to make sure that they have a great time! :thumbsup2
The only thing that I'm worried about is that we are real theme park commando's, so we will have to make sure we pace things a bit easier for them. Don't want them wiped out after the first day! :lmao:

My Mum and Step-Dad used to live in Japan and have been to Toykyo Disneyland a few times, as did we when we visited. Mum is already looking forward to Spac Mountain 2 - rather her than me!

We never plan anything for our trips, aside from booking the odd meal. We don't like thrill rides which tend to attract the most people so our trips never require any planning.

We went on holiday a month before DD was 2 and she was fine in a cot but we also got My First Ready Bed just in case. It depends on when they try and climb out - no more cots after that!!

The nice thing about a cot is that they are confined, once they are in any sort of bed they can get out when they want and you find them turning up in your bed!!:grouphug:

Have a great time planning!!

Thanks - it feels odd coming on here for advice! For years I've been answering questions where I thought I could help but going with Lucas is completely different and it's as if all our past experiences count for nothing when planning this trip!

Denise has been looking through Brit's Guide for 'taking a toddler' tips :)

Congratulations on the trip Steve:thumbsup2

Kids certainly change the way you travel and I have loved seeing Disney through my kids eyes :lovestruc

Molly had her first Disney trip when she was 15 months and now is nearly 10.

OK, trip is now cancelled. We decided we wanted to wait a bit longer until we take Lucas, plus it'd be nice to go when the exchange rate isn't so shocking. We are renting a gorgeous cottage in North Devon instead, which I think will be more to Lucas's liking - we'll take him when he understands what it's all about a bit more.

I've contacted Eurostar about getting a refund but I don't hold out much luck as they are 'non-refundable' tickets, darn!

Well, it sounds like you're happy with the decision you've made anyway :)

It's gorgeous in Devon, so I reckon you'll love it! :cool1:

Also, if you want to lend me you your passport, I will be happy to take those eurostar seats off your hands! :rotfl:
