If you don't know there is an entire section of the DIS dedicated to losing weight and getting healthy. Check out WISH.

Hi Christa! Nope I didn't know it. I have the "disneyland" section bookmarked and come here directly...I never ever go onto the main DISboards page since it's so WDW-centric. Thanks for sharing! I thought it was interesting that no one had ever brought this up before...duh! Should have known there was somewhere else to talk about it.

I am doing Weight Watchers. I joined on 1/5/08 and have so far lost 42.4 pounds! I have a lot to lose, but my first mini goal is to lose 50 by my Disneyland trip in June. I think I am going to reach it!

So, I am changing my lifestyle, not for Disneyland, but it is definatley a bonus that I will be lighter and not so tired from all the walking!!!

Wow. That is AMAZING. How wonderful for you! That is such an inspiration! You must already feel so great.

I do! I feel really good! I have type 2 diabetes and my blood sugar is almost down to normal! I am also buying smaller size clothes and wearing pants that don't have elastic all the way around the waist!! LOL! It's been a fun journey so far, but like I said I have a ways to go!

Well don't give up, you have made a huge difference in your life! You are on the way not only to looking better, but feeling better too. Clearly your health is already improving a lot.

THANK YOU! I don't plan on giving up ever! My sister and I joined with the intention of getting to goal and that's exactly what we are going to do!

This is wonderful news!!
I am also diebetic, and I have gone off 90% of my insulin. In fact most days I do not need it. I went from 3 shots a day, down to maybe 1 every other day depending on what I ate.
I am down 1 size ( lots to go) but feeling great. Today I lost another 2 pounds.
:yay:

IMy dr. said I would be lucky to lose 10lbs in a year:confused3 I will just have to proof him wrong:yay:

Criminy, rude doc.

Sizes is what I shoot for, too. I have always been heavier than my size, so even though I have done WW, at a certain point I get really discouraged b/c their idea of appropriate weight is usually NOT where I am when I look really really good. To go lower, and thereby get meetings free, would look different than I want to look. I know one can get a doctor's note, but still, it's WEIGHT watchers, and I just get demotivated.

THAT SAID! Last night I caught a good glimpse of myself in the mirror and ohmigosh, bleah! A new regime started last night, when I saw myself.

Back in preparation for my wedding, I did Winsor Pilates religiously, and it worked SO well. Every session I did better, every few sessions I looked better. It was great. And I was photographically documented looking so nice, and then I got pg, and it was rather demoralizing to choose the pictures to go in our album at 4 or 5 months pg when the baby bump was more like baby blobs all over...looking at my waist nipped in so nicely from pilates and my corset was almost painful. Anyway, within DS's first year I lost almost down to wedding weight...and then I gained what I can only imagine is it ALL back. Which is what I noticed last night.

Someone on mothering said that she had some extra weight that finally melted after her child weaned (I'm an extended nurser), and DS is definitely going that way, so maybe at some point soon I'll have that help, but in the meantime I need to help myself!

So this morning I did a 20 minute pilates routine, and I'm actively noticing what I'm eating.

A new regime!

(the biggest part is not Disney, but seeing my brother, who is a marathon runner, and his wife, who has always been very slender even before she started exercising, and now is slender and muscular...it's painful being at their house feeling galumphy, and embarrassing)

Every time I see your picture and I think how little you look! You are ahead of the game if you know what weight fits your body best. One size does not fit all.

I need to get serious about losing weight again. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and let it all come back. grrr Now if it would just stop raining, I could go out walking again. I also love pilates but just have been too lazy to do them. Beginning to get motivated again though.

Congratulations to all who have been losing. :yay:

I want to lose about 34 pounds for my Disney Vacation in September (which was my college weight). I figure this is realistic because 1-2 pounds a week over 20 weeks is 40 pounds, so 34 allows me some wiggle room.

I am torn on how to handle all the DL treats though. I don't want to miss out on them and I am focused more on trying more foods this time because in the past we brought sandwiches and had tv dinners, etc. during DL. This time, we want to experience more of the food.

I figure even if I gain a few pounds, with the walking and some careful portion control, it won't be that bad....right? :confused3

Thanks. That picture is some weird trick of the light, though. My 20 year HS reunion had been the week before, and in preparation for that and just for life purposes I did a 20 day fast and lost a bunch of gunk from my bod. Alas, as usual when I do that fast, the weight comes back on, sigh. And this time I think I gained more. :(

But why do you think THAT is my avatar? It's a good picture, one of the few! :goodvibes

i *so* need to lose weight before our trip next month. i have been wanting to do this forever but i lose will power after a day or two. ill be following along. i am doing a south beach phase 2 plan, and exercising (been sick this week and havent done too much). i find that my will power goes completely out the door if i am tired, so i am trying to get to bed much earlier.

and i am really hoping that this:

Someone on mothering said that she had some extra weight that finally melted after her child weaned (I'm an extended nurser)

holds true for me in the long run. i did lose 20 pounds last year while nursing, but gained it all back with total ease and am having an extremely difficult making it go away again. im hoping nursing is to blame for the difficulty. my son (2.5yo) is nowhere near being ready to wean, though. he only nurses 3x a day, but still, i hope that is the reason why im holding onto weight. cuz if thats NOT the reason, then my metabolism is out of whack.

It has now been 9 weeks since I started to try and eat healthier and exercise more. And I have gone down 1 shirt size! I also feel like I am almost there to dropping a pant size!!! I am so happy   :cool1: :cool1: :yay: :yay: Congrats to all of those who have are on their way to reaching their goal...and a big cheer to those who are trying :cheer2:.
