We are doing the dinning plan and was wondering how much would you save up for tips? We will be doing 7 TS meals and we are a party of 3. Our most expensive TS will be Le Cellier.

I have budgeting issues

We were 2 adults and one child, and our tips typically were in the 15-20 range. We did mostly buffets/character emals.

I have Mousekeeping envelopes ready to go and was planning to leave them each AM in the room. Then I read somewhere to tip once you see how the mousekeeper did before you leave the tip. What do you do? I wasn't going to leave the tip at the end of my stay because I thought I may have different mousekeepers each day, so that is why I thought it would be best to leave it each AM.

Thank you so much!

100% use your own judgment, and do whatever you are comfortable doing.

Personally, I figure anyone cleaning up after me deserves a tip (and I'm not even that messy!). That doesn't mean I expect, or would advise, anyone else to feel or behave the same way.

If you want to leave a tip every morning before you leave the room, fine. If you want to wait and see how your room is cleaned first, fine. Opinion-alert! The problem I see with that is, if you DO have different housekeepers two consecutive days, the 'wrong' (i.e. unintended) one will be getting your tip money. S/he hasn't cleaned your room yet, but they're getting your tip. The person whose cleaning pleased you enough that you left the tip, won't get it.

I just wanted to post this post on the tipping thread, so it might help someone else out (posted from another thread):

I just had to comment on this:

We just returned last month from a trip and we told ALL the waiters/waitresses that we would be tipping in CASH and even wrote in CASH on the receipt.

When we got our printed out receipt at check-out 7 of the 12 sit down restaurants we patronized had charged our room key for tip AND out of pocket items that we had paid for in CASH!!!

Boy, I was mad and freaked out! The manager credited my card immediately and didn't even ask to see receipts but it left a mighty damn bad taste in my mouth.

We are going next month and I will only use my 6 year old's KTTW card, which has no charging privileges, to give the waiter/waitress at the restaurant for the DDP. I suggest everyone do this, it will keep the thieves from stealing from you.

Question... If I use my Disney Rewards Gift Card for tips do I charge it to my room or just use the gift card there when you pay? I don't know why this is confusing me.

Thanks!!

Stephanie

What about paying for tips with an American Express card - I assume you can do that?

TIA!

rebelmom....That is unbelievable!! I am actually disgusted!!! Would you mind telling us which restaurants they were?

Oh my gosh, this is awful!

I have a strange tipping question. We enjoy eating at WPE, we ate there three times our last trip. This trip we will be on the QSDP for the first half of our trip. We plan on hitting WPE as least once using our counter service credits. We've always tipped there when paying OOP. So can I put a tip on my card, or could I just leave it on the table? How would you go about tipping in this situation?

It was every buffet we went to, every single one ('Ohana, BOMA, Biergarten, Cape May, CP) and Le Cellier and Kona Cafe. Very disappointing and a lesson learned (only use a KTTW card that is not valid for charging).

Hi - sorry to bother you but I am new to DDP and I have just read a thread which has got me slightly confused (easy to do in my case!:lmao:) and wondered if you could clarify a couple of questions for me please!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

1) I had understood that CS meals don't distinguish between adults and Kids - is that correct??:confused3 ( I thought I had read about people sharing 3 CS meals between 4 of them (2 adults/2kids) - but now I think I may have misunderstood how it works!! - I was thinking of using 3 x cs credits and just ordering 3 adult meals for all 4 of us to share - is that possible??:confused3:thumbsup2

2) I think I also read that the receipts you are given, show a zero total and just how many credits you've used. Do they give you a recommended tipping amount as well??:confused3 (I just wondered how I would be able to work out the appropriate tip if I didn't know how much the meal 'should' have cost!!) - plus do the receipts show you how many credits you have left or do you have to remember to keep a running total youself??

3) The other thread I read, seemed to say (I might be wrong!) that adding the tip to your KTTW card didn't always work as they ended up being charged more in tips than they had intended. If I pay cash for tips, I assume that the server/cashier won't be able to add any 'extra' tips to my KTTW will they?? - I would find this quite stressful so I'd sooner deal in cash!!

sorry for obvious questions - I'm just trying to make sure I have grasped it properly!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

cs meals can be shared, yes. No difference between kids/adults the last time I was there.

The receipt does not show how many credits you have left if I remember correctly. I remember always thinking how many are on this one and how many are on the kids one? But you can ask at the concierge desk aways and they will tell you.

no tipping on CS meals only on TS but sorry last time I went there was no tipping inmvolved but my gameplan is to pay in cash so no problems to deal with later on.

sorry if I wasnt to helpful, maybe someone else will reply with more info

Cs meals can be shared, BUT a CM will not let you order more meals than guests ex: you have 2 adults 2 children, they will not allow you to order 3 adult meals. If they have a Childrens Menu, Kids have to order from it. They can not order an adult meal. There may be ways around it, But DISboard guidelines prohibit dicussing breaking Disney rules.Receipts will show suggested tipping amounts on it.You can use your KTTW for tipping, there may be some posters who had issues with it.I have done it multiple times with no problems.

1) CS meals are not broken down into adult or child they are just CS meals.so you could share 3 meals between 4 people.
2) Firstly for CS their is no tipping, that's for TS only. I don't recall whether they give a recommended amount on the TS receipt but you should tip the same as if you had paid OOP. At the bottom of the receipt it will show how many meals/snacks remaining.
3) There have been reports of people having been double tipped when they used their KTTW card. That being said it hasn't happened to us so just check your charges often and keep your recipts and you should be ok.

All tipping questions must be referred to the Tipping Information Thread. Tipping discussion is not permitted on the main board. As far as the CS go, CS credits are not distinguished between child and adult. The rules are, however, that credits for which you paid the child's price are to be used to order from the children's menu, where there is one. Any discussion of how to get around this rule by using children's credits to purchase adult meals will be deleted from the boards.

Because this is mostly a tipping thread, moving it to the Tipping Information Thread before it gets too long to move. Please see the first post of the Tipping Information Thread for an explanation of the policies of the Restaurant board regarding tipping discussion.

Each reciept has the remaing credits on the bottom for your whole party.
With Table service it shows the amount of the recomended tip at the bottom. We always got a bill with all the prices listed (for TS) and then they went back and used the card and gave us a reciept that had the amount as zero the. I am going to scan some of mine to give you an idea what they look like.

Here is a TS reciept with the prices. We also had a cake with this, so we had to pay out of pocket for that.

And here is the one they gave us after we paid. At the bottom it has all the TS credits left for our whole family.

Here is a snack one. It is a bit wrinkled, but at the bottom you can see it says we still have 15 snck credits left.

And a CS service one. Again with the remaining credits listed on the bottom for CS.

We are going in june we have a party of 6 and If I am getting this right we get added on tip
1. is this 18% or is it 20%.
2. And can we put the tip on our credit card. We are on the ddp. we are paying out of pocket for 2 meals. And we will be using our room keep that has the credit to the key.
3. Can we add tips to the room as well?

4.We also are spliting up for some dinners and we hope to do the same. But since I will be having dinner with some of the family in our 2nd room can i charge my part of tip to my room and they put their tip on their room?

Thanks
Sorry i didn't get to finish reading the thread yet.
