i am first hearing of this on this website...is it really expensive to buy the disney parts? Do people really have "systems" to buy this stuff? My 2 yr old loves her mr. potato head and i know she would love to get some parts but are they expensive? Just want to know ahead of time if I should even attempt...thanks!

The Mr. Potato Head is so cool!
If I remember right, the box of stuff is about $18-$20. You get a box, and there is a huge display with all the parts in it, you can get as much stuff as will fit into the box (and he cover has to close) there are things like a video camera, a mickey ears hat, a box of popcorn, a Disney name tag, etc. etc.
The best tip is this: Don't bother getting a body. JUST get the the 'parts' and bring a bod from home for the kidlets to play with.

There are a couple of places to buy them. I think Downtown Disney has the best selection. And Pop gift store has them from what I hear.

downtown disney. Isn't it in Once Upon A Toy? They also have My Little Pony stuff. It is addicting.

Yes, it's ONce Upon a Toy. I went in there and the CM working there actually stuffed my box for me bc she thought I was not getting my money's worth! Apparently, there is a trick to getting as much in there as possible, and I was failing miserably, so she took over. Let me tell you, she squeezed at least twice as much in there as I had originally! Thanks, OUAT CM!!!!!:cheer2:

the store in toontown has the parts, too. and a store in hollywood studios has parts.

side note: at toontown i had a CM insist that i needed to buy a potato body in order to buy the parts. i said no, i had bought parts the previous year without a body and it was no biggie. the CM *insisted* i had to buy a body, so i left without purchasing anything. then at MGM (hollywood studios) i found another potato head stand, and asked the CM if i could just buy the parts and was told "of course you can!" i explained what had happened at toontown, because i didnt want to get anyone in trouble and wanted to be clear, and the CM at HS said i must have had a new CM because you can definitely buy just the parts. i knew that, having bought a box of parts (different ones!!!) the year before, but i thought maybe the rules had changed. so if anyone tells you you HAVE to buy a potato head body, you *do not* have to. you can stuff a box full of parts. and as long as they can tape it shut, you are fine.

we have quite the collection of parts! i love adding to it every year!!!

I have filled MANY boxes of Potato Head parts. Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney has by far the best selection. The resort gift shop at Pop Century has the worst selection. As people have previously said, you do NOT need to buy a head, bring one from home. It will save tons of space in the box.

My favorite thing to do is get a shopping basket and put all the parts I want inside. I then find an (um) unbusy area in the store, dump my parts on the floor and sit there and stuff the box in different ways until I fit the most parts possible.

Your problem is going to be that you have a girl :) There are approximately one billion princess pieces and the hair pieces are HUGE. As are the shoes, oh, and Ariel's mermaid base. You might want to budget for more than one box...

Oooh! If you haven't heard, Once Upon a Toy (DD) also has a stuff your own My Little Pony box (same idea, same price) which is quite fun also!

Early this Feb. we went, and my husband fit 21 pieces in my niece's box. We skipped the body, because she already had a Potato Head body at home, and even if she didn't, we knew that her mom could buy one at a garage sale, or even brand new.

We got it at the Animal Kingdom, and there were very few people in the store. She just walked around and placed pieces that she wanted on the counter, he followed, packing tightly.

With tax, the price was $20 and change.

That was just hilarious. Love the way you put that. :rotfl:
