We LOVED Oliver! To be honest -- I'm not one to interact a whole lot with my servers, but we really enjoyed talking to Oliver and you could not ask for better service.

Great report and since it is a trip report I am now going to move it over to the Trip Reports Board so others can enjoy!!

What you describe is exactly why we have been sailing with DCL since literally Day 1 (we were on the MV of the Magic) and have been back another 16 times since. January will be #18 and I have 4 more booked after that...it is very addictive!!

Wow what a question. Very hard to answer because every cruise line and ship has it's strong points and opportunities.

This being said, overall I really love the QM2. She is grand, elegant, and a true ocean liner. In a way the DISNEY WONDER reminded me of QM2 on a smaller scale. Disney was very good at building a ship with a flair for the past (art deco), but with all the modern amenities. It's a nice balance.

I've found I enjoy the large ships and small. The SILVER SHADOW is a wonderful ship for huge accommodations, personalized service, and great food. Of course the amenities like the gym, spa, and show lounge are smaller and there is not as much activity. That is the trade off.

The big ships offer it all but can be a bit impersonal. This was something that impressed me with DCL, that the crew was able to make you feel so special even with 2000 fellow guests.

Another large ship besides QM2 that really impressed me was CELEBRITY SOLSTICE. It's a contemporary ship through and through, but the design detail is second to none. I highly recommend this ship.

I look forward to sailing on more DCL voyages, and I think I would enjoy a transatlantic on the DISNEY MAGIC. Something to think about.
