The Disney curse

Our vacation in Feb 2014 was supposed to be our last Disney vacation for a while. As we drove away we decided we need a break and would not be back for at least 2 years. That must have been the moment that we cursed ourselves because since then we somehow haven't stop planning trips to Disney. Fast forward to Sep last year we get an exchange student we decided we will do one trip to a place she really wanted to see. Guess what place that was? WDW. So we planned a nov trip. We said this is the last Disney trip and then comes December. My dad decides that our annual family trip is going to be... WDW. Three months to plan a WDW for 16 people. Sure no problem :scared:, of course this will be the "last disney trip" in two years. Then comes September. My aunt tells me that my cousin for his graduation gift wants a trip to WDW with his friends and if I can help plan, sure no problem. Friends decide can't come, guess who is going to WDW again...

Fast forward to Monday when DH calls me and tells me he is going to get 3 weeks off in December:yay: . Perfect now I can plan our anniversary trip. Of course I start with other plans and one by one things fall through. So frustrated, I call DH and he says we should go see the Osborne lights one last time (this is hands down top 3 favorites of WDW). Reluctantly I agree.

Seriously there is way that disney just gets all our money no matter how hard I try not to. Not only have be managed to go 5 times since our "last time". I just made reservation for the candlelight processional dinner package and the Merry and Bright dessert party.

Anyone else has this problem?

By the way I will never again say this is our last trip. :rockband:

ha ha, funny story. :lmao: thanks for sharing. I said that once....never said it again though. We go every year...and we love it.

We've been planning our family trip next week (squee!!) for over a year. Every June DH and I get a week alone every June thanks to my awesome SIL keeping my twins. First, we were planning Italy. That fell through. Then, we were going to the Caribbean with some friends, but they fell through. I said to DH, why don't we do a 3 day stay-cation and do some projects around the house, then jaunt down to AKL for a few nights, no parks. It was amazing! After this upcoming trip he said no more WDW until 2017... we'll see!

I have said the 'not next year' every single year for the past 4 years. Yeah, that didn't happen! Said it again after our last trip, as there were tons of walls, construction, closed attractions, etc. It probably won't happen as DD just mentioned she wants to do the college program, and then the grad /professional program, and then she plans to take over the entire place. But I really do want to wait until some of the new stuff is finally completed.

DH used to say this, but somehow I was able to convince him otherwise :goodvibes. We were just talking yesterday and he was saying how much he cannot wait for our trip (which happens in 4 days ) because it is one of his favorite places to go to....we go at least once a year. He is already talking about when we retire he is hoping that we have enough DVC points (we are DVC members) so that we can spend the winter months at WDW....I happily think I created a monster :goodvibes .

Yes, our last one for a while was 2010. :rotfl:(5 trips ago). We actually already have next years trip planned to universal, so it looks like next year we may actually skip. We shall see.

I never say this is my "last trip....for a while" I usually say get your fill of WDW I am not sure when we will be back..........then 10 weeks later I am back then 11 months out I am back I mean who am I kidding????

Well, it's a good problem to have. If you really need to change it up, you could always head to the west coast and try Disneyland...it's different enough, but still has a lot of the favorites.

Have fun!

I can't believe the OP is complaining about this "problem." It took me 15 years to convince someone in my family to take a trip with me to Disney World. As it is we can barely afford it and will only be there for 5 days (3 park days). It will be my husband's first trip ever. Some people never get to go in their lives. I typically try not to judge people, but this post upset me.

I can't speak for the OP, but I think she intended for the post to be taken in a lighthearted way, not to make anyone feel badly.

I'm so glad you finally get to go! I find myself frustrated sometimes when I see how often others are able to go to WDW. I would LOVE to get a yearly trip, or even every two years. My DH doesn't want to go so often, however, and it's quite expensive. I do think the OP's post was intended to be good-natured, rather than a legitimate complaint. Like someone else said, it's a good "problem" to have! :) I hope your trip is incredible. I did a five day trip with my little cousin, a first timer. It was in June, but we were still able to accomplish a lot!

Totally agree is a great problem to have. It is so funny you mention Disneyland I actually seriously consider instead of this trip, but I have the feeling we will be moving to California in the next couple of years.

I am sorry my post upset you :(. It was not meant as a real complain. I am thankful that I have a family of Disney lovers and that my husband turn out to love it as much or maybe more than me. Believe me I know some people aren't as fortunate as we are. We are so grateful to have the life we have. In fact in our February trip my aunt (almost 40) finally got to go to wdw for the first time. The story is too long to tell, but let's just say she was born in a not so good situation and if it wasn't because she meet my uncle she could have never even dream of such a thing. One of my most precious moments is when she walked down Main Street and saw the castle for the first time, she couldn't contain the tears. There we were 13 adults crying down Main Street, of course tears of joy to see my aunt so happy. I hope you have a magical trip!

We go every other year in August. This time while we were there I was looking at the bounceback offer and DH was adamant that we would not be taking another trip until August 2017. We get home and I start throwing around the idea of Nov '16 and DH wasn't buying it, but wasn't quite as adamant as before. Cut to a few weeks later and the announcement of the last year of Osbourne lights combined with getting a good deal on the hotel and super cheap airfare and we are going again this December!! We went from August 2017 to December 2015 in less than a month!

Actually I'm saying this about my upcoming trip in November, I tell myself this is it for awhile so stay tuned to see if I stick with it lol:teeth:

YEP all the time. Just planned a last min. trip last week for a week in Nov. If I am going to be cursed.....a Disney curse is the best one to be afflicted with. :earboy2:

Our VERY:tinker: cursed Disney year was 2012 when our dd did the college program. We went the beginning of Jan. for a few days to help her get settled. We already had a DVC trip planned for the end of Jan. before she even made it in the program so we went back. :tink: THEN since she was in FL we decided to go back over spring break for another week. THEN when she was finishing up with her program in late May...we decided we should go for Star :darth::chewy: Wars weekend and help her pack up and because we had never been for Star Wars weekends..... so we planned a long weekend over Memorial weekend. THEN....just my youngest son and I went back in July because....my dd was taking a summer school class and was DISNEY DONE for a while and was staying at her college for that month for the class, our older son was going to a steel drum week long workshop in WVA and my husband was going to be traveling.......and SHOOT WE HAVE AP'S so let's just GO ONE LAST TIME. WE WERE SO DANG CURSED. :earsgirl::earsboy: That was our 5 trip year!!! I believe this trip in Nov. is our 28th trip.
