I know this is possibly a late post regarding this topic, but I just recently noticed that, starting in 2002, there are only four seasons available for the Disney Collection resorts (GF, Polynesian, YC, BC, etc...)

Do the rules that apply to the home resorts (i.e. if points go up in one season, they must go down in another) apply to the Disney Collection as well? Because I cannot figure out how they made the points "equal"

If anyone has figured this out and can enlighten me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!!

No, there is no balance or attempt to make anything "equal" with any programs beyond the DVC Resorts themselves. The Disney Collection, Adventure Collection and Concierge Collection are separately negotiated with DVC and are not related to DVC other than as an option to use points. The "seasons" listed are not related to DVC seasons, but are consistant within all WDW resorts.

The DVC resorts have a fixed number of points sold at each resort and thus the points needed to reserve may not be changed. If some night's point requirements are decreased, other nights must be increased and vice versa.

The World Passport Collection, administered thru II, is based on an exchange of 7 nights at an II resort for 7 nights at a DVC resort ( no point charts are available ) and thus will show no changes unless the DVC point requirements change.

Actually they didn't make the points equal, they raised them in some cases a dramatic amount. The program could vanish tomorrow if DVC or the other Disney resorts so chose.

The changed the seasons to more closely match the WDW hotel seasons. They also set up points required based on type of room instead of giving the best available (which was usually very good). And, as Dean mentions, some of the points required went up dramatically as much as a 50%-100%+
