The Disney Adventures of Scooter Mom-Dining Report-9/7-9/14 (complete)

How did I miss your previous update?! Your Capitan Cook's and MNSSHP reviews look so good!

I really want to try Roaring Forks as well, but we'll see if that happens on this trip.

Yes, we really liked Captain Cooks. DH was really frustrated with the ordering system, though. He says he knows they are trying to simplify things, but he feels like it just makes things more complicated because you can't ask questions.

We really enjoyed everything we got at Roaring Forks, I highly recommend. And since they cook them as you wait, they have the best Mickey waffles. Nice and warm and fresh. The pancakes were really good as well. Now if they would just do something about the coffee .......

Lunch in World Showcase - Day 6

As we were touring World Showcase, we were starting to get hungry and everyone wanted something from a different place. So we decided to roll with that.

DH wanted something from Germany.

Germany2.jpg

So he went to Sommerfest which is the QS place in Germany and got a bratwurst

Bratwurst - served with sauerkraut and roll $6.69

It came with a pretzel

But instead of getting a soda, he sprang for a beer.

He said this meal was very good and he really enjoyed it. Later on in the day, we were all regretting he had eaten it. Apparently, sauerkraut makes DH's butt very happy and he was making us miserable later on in the room if you know what I mean. No more saurkraut for DH when we are in close quarters.

He and the kids were in Germany picking this up while I was scootering over to Morocco to get myself some lunch.

I really wanted to try the Shawarma platter that everyone had been raving about.

Our plan was to meet in the America Pavilion where the kids were getting something to eat. I gotta tell you, I got some really strange looks when I was scootering back towards the America pavilion with a tray full of food, but I arrived in one piece with only minimal spillage of my soda.

Here's what I had.

Shawarma Platters - served with side of Hummus, Tabouleh and a Tangierine Couscous Salad with fresh Moroccan bread
Chicken & Lamb Combo $13.99
Chicken $11.99
Lamb $12.99

I chose chicken

DSC04859.jpg

It came with a drink and some baklava

DSC04860.jpg

I really enjoyed this . The chicken had a lot of flavor and I really liked the fresh pita bread and the hummus. The couscous was just ok as was the tabouleh, but I really enjoyed the rest.

The kids went with the old standby.

DSC04862.jpg

Yep. Chicken nuggets. Again. DS discovered that instead of getting a soda and a dessert, you could combine them for a slushie. He was so proud of himself for discovering this.

Bellies full, we continued on with our exploration of the World Showcase.

I love the tabouleh at Tangierine Cafe (primarily because it tastes so strongly of parsley and lemon). And now I'm really in the mood for some baklava. Glad you had a good meal there overall!

I loved the Shawarma platter !! It could have used another piece of pita. Because I love pita and hummus. I am so getting that again !!

Dinner at Roaring Forks

We were exhausted, so DH and the kids went down to get the food and brought it back to the room.

I decided on a cheese flatbread

DSC04898.jpg

This hit the spot for me. It wasn’t too heavy and the crust had a nice crisp to it. It was just enough and exactly all I needed.

DH got this tuna sandwich thingy

DSC04899.jpg

I can see why he chose this because it looked so fresh and DH said it tasted as fresh as it looked and he really liked it.

The kids went with the old standby

DSC04900.jpg

DD fed some to her dolly

DSC04902.jpg

For dessert, we got Mickey bars and ice cream sandwiches.

DSC04903.jpg

DSC04904.jpg

DD wanted me to take a photo of the Halloween cup

DSC04901.jpg

Then we settled in to get some rest for the next day ahead. Animal Kingdom !!

Phew...finally all caught up and I'll try to stay that way now if I can.

All I have to say is I'm going BACK to WPE and ordering that bacon wrapped meatloff with the potatos and onion strings. Oh my....I am just drooling here right now.

Now, did I miss your regular TR somewhere in all that has been going on in my life? If so, please direct me to it.

That meat loaf is soooooo good !!! I could use one of those right now.

TR is here .... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2993186

On our Animal Kingdom day, DH and I decided we were going to have lunch at the Yak and Yeti counter service.

I knew the kids wouldn’t eat anything here, so just the two of us got something and then we got the kids something to eat at Restuarantasaurus.

DSC00057.jpg

I have always wanted to eat here. It always smells so good when we walk by. So I was happy to be giving it a try.

DH ordered the sweet and sour chicken

DSC04974.jpg

DS tried some and liked it, so they were able to finish it.

I ordered the Beef Lo Mein

DSC04977.jpg

I liked this as well. But this is a HUGE portion and even with DH helping, we only managed half. Two, maybe three people could easily share this. It was good. I liked the crunchy veggies and savory beef mixed with the noodles.

For dessert, DH got the Banana pudding

DSC04976.jpg

Which was REALLY good !! DH was surprised at how good it was and even

DD ate some of this.

I got the frozen lemonade

DSC04975.jpg

I love lemony things and this hit the spot. Very tart and refreshing. It is solidly frozen though and kind of hard to eat, but I managed !!

A family of four could split this meal and be full. Something to consider if you are paying OOP.

Where do we head next ??

DSC04985.jpg

DD wanted to ride Dinosaur, so we headed in that direction

DSC04987.jpg

DSC04990.jpg

DSC04991.jpg

DH and the kids rode while I waited. Too bumpy for me. They got off the ride and DD wanted to ride again since there wasn’t a wait. DS and I went to Restaurantasaurus to get the kids some lunch.

DSC04988.jpg

And you will never guess what they ordered ….. yep, Chicken nuggets – AGAIN !!

DSC04992.jpg

And for dessert

DSC04993.jpg

Some kind of chocolate mousse and some kind of cheesecake thingy. I just don’t get that gel stuff they put on the top of these things. It makes the textures all weird for me. Anyway, DD ate some of the chocolate and DH ate the cheesecake.

Goodness! How did I miss your review?? :confused3 Oops! But I'm caught up now and I have to say that you have a LOT of great CS options that are on my must try list - Captain Cooks, Columbia Harbor House, WL Roaring Forks.... great looking options. :goodvibes

:welcome: Thanks so much for stopping by !! We meant to try so many other places, but since my ankle hurt so bad, we just kept going to Roaring Forks because it was so easy. I never did get a hamburger or chicken fingers, though !! I was proud of myself for that !!!

That banana pudding at Yak & Yeti looks really good. An added bonus - it doesn't seem to have any "gel" on top of it.

It really did look good. What is with the gel anyway ??? I wonder if adding it is an attempt to keep the top of the dessert from getting that skin thing on the top. I dunno, but that stuff is nasty looking. Note the "gel" on top of the cheesecake we got from Restaurantasourus ....

We've been trying to fit Yak & Yeti back in as a table service and still haven't been able to. But after seeing your pictures, maybe we should just do the counter service.:confused3

I don't understand that stuff they put on top if the desserts either.

Just spent a very enjoyable lunch break reading your reviews :goodvibes

So much yummy food, thanks for taking the time to share :thumbsup2

I just posted on your TR !!! We liked the counter service very much. I am regretting not getting an egg roll, but it was a ton of food, so I guess it was good I didn't.

Roaring Fork - Dinner Again !!

When DH and the kids got back from the pool we decided to just get dinner from Roaring Forks again. I had all of these plans to explore other resorts and eat at different places, but whenever we got back to the room and I put my foot up, I was always too tired and in too much pain to want to go back out again. And the kids seemed happy with the pool, so we just stuck to the resort. We really found it restful and Roaring Forks was so convenient. They brought the food back to the room.

So for dinner on this day, DH got the pasta special. It was penne noodles with some kind of Bolognese sauce.

DSC05093.jpg

I didn’t try any, but it sure did smell good. He said it was pretty tasty and ate it all.

I ordered the turkey sandwich.

Turkey and Dill Havarti - with vegetable salad or House-made chips $8.79

DSC05092.jpg

I really enjoyed this sandwich. It was very fresh and I really loved the savory taste the dill Havarti added to it. And I just love those house made chips. I like them really crunchy like that. This was a HUGE sandwich and could easily
feed two people.

DD went out on a limb and got the pepperoni flatbread

DSC05091.jpg

We really liked their flatbreads. DD gobbled this up.

DS just went with the old standby.

DSC05090.jpg

For dessert, DD ordered and Smores cupcake and DS got a vanilla one.

DSC05089.jpg

You can see that DD couldn’t stand it and had to taste some of the frosting. I know the DS enjoyed his cupcake, but DD ended up giving hers to DH who said it was OK.

I had an ice cream sandwich.

DSC05094.jpg

Can’t go wrong there. We all got a shower and packed up some more for our check out in the morning and got some sleep.

We are staying at WL next fall, so after seeing all these great reviews of RF, I think we will definately try it.

That sandwich looks yummy.

We were really surprised at how many options they had even though it is a relatively small CS location. I definitely recommend it !!

The sandwich was yummy and HUGE. I couldn't eat the whole thing and DH has to polish it off for me. I think you could definitely split one !!

I have a lot of resort photos in my TR if you haven't stopped by to see.
