The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Spring is in full swing here here in Haymarket. Yesterday I had to start the mowing season. Lil Bug went into the back yard and started to look like she was on a jungle patrol. Even our 60 bags of mulch got delivered (decided to buy though a HS fundraiser this year instead of our nomal bulk 7 yard delivery.).

This morning I went to take the younger pups to daycare since we will not be home for much of the day and found the trees blessed us with a fresh coat of pollen. Every vehicle including the RV and the driveway is a shade of green/yellow pollen. My allergy meds are screaming like Scotty on Star Trek "I'm giving it all she's got cap'n!!" For those allergy sufferers like me....godspeed and keep some tissues on hand.

Bless your heart, James. I was in your shoes a few weeks ago. We're on the down slope here and at least my meds can keep up now. Hang in there. ED

Ok my knee is a bit better, still not great. Go back to the doctor to see if I can get off the blood thiners on friday. Addtionally, had a bad infection in a 28 year old root cannel. This just isn't a good year. Lol. Half my face is swollen up. And I can barely talk. So , I can't walk or talk. This and me are getting old fast. Camping this season is not looking great, going to stay mostly local, for my leg and stuff. Don't want to get caught 8 hours from home and have a problem. I am getting better, just so slowly.

Spencer, all kidding aside, it might be time for you to focus first and foremost on healing your body rather than just "working on getting better" while trying to keep up with the rest of life's requirements.

You have a wife and a daughter and with that goes certain life's obligations (trust me, I know  ) but beyond that the focus should be on YOU. Camping, DIS, and trains may have to take a back seat (future stuff) to take care of the here-and-now (health stuff).

I like you and I want the best for you and from what you're saying, focus on YOU and don't try to rush back into the other stuff. It will all be there still for you to enjoy after you get well.

Take care of yourself, brother.

Like Ed said. Staying close to home and getting healthy isn't a bad plan. I had my shoulder rebuilt 3 weeks ago. They said recovery is slow, but I'd be out of the arm immobilizer in 4 weeks. That gave me 9 weeks before heading to GSP in the MH. Last week (2 weeks in) they said I still had 4 more weeks in the sling/immobilizer. This week i find out I will only be able to hold 5 lbs in that hand by the time I head to the beach. I just was allowed to put 1 lb in it this week.

A putter at mini golf doesn't weigh much and Donna will have to help carry beach stuff.

Great pics!

And I was told recovery would be slow. "Nine months before it is completely healed". I wasn't expecting to be as restricted at 2 and 3 months. I have a 5lb weight limit from weeks 6-12. PT hasn't been bad... yet. We just started any biceps work this week and the rest of the shoulder is still very passive range of motion. I've also been very fortunate that the pain has been very manageable. I haven't needed any narcotics since the 1st week, and then I was taking less than half what was prescribed. That was not what I expected talking to several people who have had similar. I'll count my blessings there.

Thankfully this is my non-dominant arm and I am so bad at golf, I gave it up 25 years ago. Despite being a VERY active bowler in my 20s, 30s and 40s (2-4 nights/week), I haven't done that for the last 10 years.

Either way, don't need a fully functioning arm to see the Blue Angels, play mini-golf or lay on the beach, so I'm good.

Hopefully all went well and he's good for another 1000 miles
It went well. Only negative is we are having a heck of a time with his blood pressure. He is taking 3 times the medicine than he was before. Yet it still fluctuates greatly. Ideas greatly appreciated.
