The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

50 years plus 17 days update.

Nothing has changed. Yup 17 days past the half century mark I have nothing major to report.

J is doing well with gymnastics, L comes home for spring break and finding her way at college. M and I are shuttling the non driver and being mostly sucessful at adulting. Seriously all good things.

Tomorrow and this week its time to prep the RV for the first race weekend. That's right, drivers school is just around the corner. And I will get to see how this new WiFi thermostate plays out as first few races are always those in between weekends where sometimes you want some mid day AC.

definitely jelly of @team bradfield hanging out in the keys. Thoug we did book a trip down to central VA for just M and I as a weekend away to unwind and reconnect.

Thanks for posting this “for me”
I sailed Cunard Line to England on RMS Ivernia
and returned on the SS United States .
I think I was 10…(1960)
I might be able to find one picture on the Ivernia but nothing for US unfortunately.
Entered SouthHampton maybe and New York return …

I am always wishing Disney would create their oldest ship into a resort on Castaway !
My brother said he was on the earliest Disney Cruise Ship that was not really Disney owned . The Disney characters were onboard and probably No Castaway Cay… I’ll have to call him and ask the name of the liner .
Premier Cruise line from 1985 to 1993 …based in Cape Canaveral .
Trademark The Big Red Boat Sold for scrap too !

I grew up in St.Louis and traveled on the SS Admiral Steamship in the 1950s
Teamubr did you grow up in StLouis ? That was a beautiful Art Deco design and was “thee” location for all the Dance groups to perform on Sunday afternoons for family entertainment .
I also visited when it was turned into a Casino and now sold far salvage, I guess.

The Queen Mary was turned into Hotel in California and is still popular .
Supposed to be haunted

Would you spend the night on Disney Lighthouse Point if they erected an old Cruise Ship into a Resort ?

I did grow up in StL. North County (where'd you go to high school? Inside joke for everyone else). Moved across the river in Illinois when I went to college.

I rode the Admiral many times. Bob Kuban playing in the main hall. Funny story, that old silver tank started out as a car ferry named the SS Albatross. If it cruised south, you got to appreciate the lovely smell from the Monsanto plant on the Illinois side and the AB brewery on the Missouri side.

This last week we've had 4 beautiful white ducks swimming for most of the day in our pond. We saw them fly away yesterday. They belong to our 2nd neighbor over. They go back for brunch and to lay their eggs.
