Ds3 has taken up portraiture. He drew a face the other day, and I was surprised that... well, that I could actually tell it was face! :lmao:

It was a big circle that filled almost the whole page, with two little circles for eyes, a bigger circle underneath for the nose, and a big squiggly smile. He said it was his brother. :lovestruc

I asked, "Shouldn't you give him some hair?" He said, "Yes!" and drew a small spike of hair in the center top of the head. :rotfl:

Then he said, "And feets!" and drew two lines down from the bottom of the head (they look like stick-legs, but he says they're not legs, they're "feets".)

Then he drew a picture of himself, then one of Mama (more hair, plus glasses, it's a hoot!), and then one of Daddy (I reminded him about Daddy's moustache, so he drew another squiggly line above the squiggly mouth; Daddy looks a little creepy with two mouths!) And "feets", we all have "feets". :rotfl2:

So I wonder a psychologist would make of him drawing ginormous heads with little stick "feets"? No bodies, no arms, just head and feets.

Those are the times when you start feeling really old. When the kids have no idea who or what you are talking about.:rotfl:

Yeah, I have a few games that I need to take and trade. My boss is always buying the kids video games from the Hollywood Video. He owns a shopping center in Pasco and they are one of the renters. But he is not very good at picking out family friendly games. When he got the kids Nintendo DS & PSP's I took almost every game back and traded them for better ones. He actually got one that was like Girls Gone Wild Volleyball!:scared1: I think the guy at the store just throws a bunch in a bag and that's what we get.
Tell him the kids are only allowed to play "E"-rated games. That means they're OK for "Everyone". :thumbsup2

Even some of the "E" ones I don't think are truly appropriate for young children, but Cooper's a bit older. :)

Sounds like you have a budding artist on your hands. I'm so unartistic! When I did my Tigger drawing at DCA I was totally surprised that it even remotely resembled Tigger. I have it hanging up on our bulletin board I'm so proud of it. Most people look at my drawings and think a 3yo has drawn them.

YIKES! I just read the Girls Gone Wild Volleyball comment! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

It's easier just to take them back to our local Hollywood Video and trade them for ones we want. He's started giving me the receipt so I can just exchange the ones we won't play or movies we won't watch.

DS7 had (has?) fine motor skills issues. He still draws stick people, his drawings are pretty primitive, and his handwriting is still pretty rough. DS3's people-drawing is already more detailed than DS7's. :rotfl:

DH & DS were back from fishing by about 10am. Not much luck today, nothing was biting, so after about 3 hours they just headed back home. That's good because I was thinking I might have him bbq some burgers for lunch.

For lunch? WOW, that sounds yummy! I love bbq!!! :lovestruc

Not sure what we're gonna do. DS7 still hasn't eaten anything, though I think we'll try some toast in a bit. He is totally engrossed in the stupid game, I wish I'd thought of it earlier.

I hate seeing him all punky like that, it breaks my heart. He likes to sit in my lap when he does his reading, but other than that he sits by himself or when he's watching TV with Daddy. But when he's really sick, he wants to snuggle, so it always worries me!

I should see if DH wants to take DS7 fishing sometime. I don't even know where you can do that around here. My dad fishes on the Sound, but DH doesn't like that, he's much more of a lake fisherman.

I bet my dad would love to take them out sometime. He loves all that kind of stuff and would rather do it with someone else along; he goes by himself anyway, though, which always makes my mom and me a bit nervous.

Every once in awhile you hear about a fishing derby for little kids, but the timing's never worked out, we always had something else scheduled by the time we knew about it.

DH may know of places to fish around here, I'm not sure. He fished mostly in Eastern Washington with his grandfather, so knows lots of great places out that way.

Can you tell I'm not very optimistic about the weather? Figure we should bbq this afternoon before the rain comes back. If we wait until dinner time bbq might not be possible.

I always hated when the kids were sick when they were little. It's so hard to tell if they are really sick or just a little sick. It's such a helpless feeling, there's not much you can do except try to make them comfortable, offer chicken soup, that kind of thing. Poor little guy, hope he feels better soon.

Can you fish in Sammamish Lake?? I remember when I lived up there a tiny little park/lake was in Issaquah and I think they used to stock it with fish. Was it called Black Lake??, can't really remember the name. But I used to like going there. Check out the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife website. They usually have a list of the lakes that they stock.

We have been camping several times when they do the kids fishing derby at BattleGround Lake. They bring in the trout several days ahead of time, put them in a net around the swimming area, don't feed them for about 3 days. Then they provide the fishing poles, bait, etc... The line barely touches the water and they have a fish on. We like to go camping at the parks on the weekends that they do the kid's derbys. Because once they finish on Saturday afternoons with the derby, they let all the fish go into the lake. There is some awesome fishing for a few hours!

Yeah, I agree. About the weather AND sick kids! :rotfl:

Dh wants to bbq steak for dinner. I haven't heard when the rain is supposed to hit, I should check though...

I would also look for a local sporting goods store. Adults will need a fishing license, but the kids don't. They are usually pretty good at knowing the places that are good to take kids to fish! You would be amazed at how many of the local parks that have little lakes have fish stocked in them. Even our local park here in town has trout stocked year round for fishing. :goodvibes

Well I think I've sat here long enough. Time to go outside and see what the troops are doing. Have a great afternoon!

That sounds cool!

I know the local lake near my parents' house used to do a fishing derby. I just looked in the King Co. Parks website, and they don't even list that lake! :confused3

I am sure you can fish on Sammammish, I haven't ever been there to fish. In fact, I've only ever been there once when my friend's sister lived on the lake and held a bridal shower for her.

I also know someone who used to own a house that overlooked the south side of the lake. She literally had a cliff-side house, and the view was unbelievable! I took pictures one day, and they look like something out of a travel magazine. :rotfl:

Thanks, I'll check it out. :thumbsup2

That's a great idea, and there are two sporting goods stores close by. I'll check next time we go in. :thumbsup2

Have a great day, Sam. And take it easy!!! :)

The rain here is supposed to hit somewhere between 7-8PM, so we should be good to go for a bbq dinner! :thumbsup2

The Boy is asking for food! Gonna go make some toast.
